RE: Bought a used HTT today!

Congrats on the new HTT.
We too have fond memories of our 2004 Starcraft, Unfortunately, Cindy storm dropped a pine tree ( we're from Maine) on it and totaled it.
It was a great HTT....... well built.
Have fun and Welcome

RE: Who here cooks inside camper or Outside camper?

We rarely use the oven or stove. If you were tenting, would you cook inside the tent? For us all the cooking is done outside, rain or shine........under the awning if we have to.
Camping is camping and you have to rough it a bit.......
Dre
we rough it up enough with hybrid bunk house.
What a life we all have ! :B

RE: Nature finally wakes up !

A week ago, there were no leaves on trees in Maine. I took a few pictures this morning, and what a difference.
It's really time to think of our first camping trip of the season !
Dre, nice pictures. Where is that ... your backyard? If so it is pretty - no need to go anywhere for camping!
We still love to go camping even though we're surrounded by woods. The HTT is actually parked in the front yard.....Can't get to the backyard with it.
Should I include a picture of the backyard?........Why not!!

RE: Maine Seacoast Sights

Hello kfp673,
If I elaborate about Acadia, I feel the thread will be hi-jack. I suggest you start a new post and the answers to your question will be answered and I will be one who will follow and answer your post.

RE: What kind of maintence on my Jayco roof? non handy person

Relax, you're making more of it than it really is.
I agree with Brirene...........you really have to relax. The questions just keep pouring on your part.....when all the answers are already in here.
Start searching :)

RE: Maine Seacoast Sights

The nicest beach in Maine and it stretches for 6 miles is Old Orchard Beach. A very popular destination in the summer and plenty of campgrounds to choose from. The one we love the best is Hid'n Pines Family campground ( all services and pets are welcome).
While there, go pass an afternoon at Portland Light in Cape Elizabeth. Beautiful lighthouse, nice trail by the ocean, picnic area etc etc.
Quaint towns: Camden, Boothbay Harbor and Bar Harbor. All three have a lot of little shops, restaurants and they are all situated by the ocean or a bay.
If ever Camden Hill is on your agenda, consider Camden Hills State Park Campground. Very woodsy, beautiful and pet friendly.
Most popular tourist place in Maine is Acadia National Park. The second most visited National Park in the USA. If you're an outdoor person, you could stay weeks there and always find something to do. Bar Harbor (mentioned above) is actually situated in Acadia.
Welcome to Maine

That question like many others have been asked time and time again. Start searching the forums and you'll get your answers.

RE: First camping trip in the HTT!

Glad to hear you had a great experience on your first trip. Such an upgrade going from a popup to an HTT. You will find the bathroom very convenient especially in the middle of the night, and a lot more space and storage.
Enjoy your HTT and start building memories.

RE: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI

We too are going to PEI this summer on the first week of August. We will be staying at Sunset Campground in Cavendish. Seems like a nice campground with good reviews.

RE: Hybrid Seasonal Tips/Tricks?

I do agree with RandK-M.......and as for the awning, for the time it takes to roll it out, I would roll it in when I'm gone for more than a day.

P.S. Go to bed Dan!

RE: Point sebago Maine

And the Flies know the difference between "Locals and Tourist", they prefer tourist:S
And that's why as a Mainer I don't care about those flies anymore. I just sit in my chair and watch all those tourists break dancing around me :)

RE: Hybrid Seasonal Tips/Tricks?

all i can say is that i don't see very many who use a hybrid on a seasonal site.
IMHO, they aren't a good choice for this, especially if the tent ends are left open when you leave the campground.
Come on Dan......Give the OP a break and answer his question :)

RE: Point sebago Maine

I'm so used to them.......I don't care anymore. In worst cases, bug repellent does the trick.
But by the end of June, you should be fine.
Welcome to Maine

RE: Bar Harbor Campground

The only warning I can say is don't go to Bar Harbor Campground on a long weekend like Memorial day or Labor Day.
We've been to that campground year after year without any problem, but Labor Day weekend 2012, we arrived very early on Saturday morning and the campground was full.

RE: Prince Edward Island

Thanks for all the replies, but unfortunately, we don't play golf. We are looking for points of interest or little village that stood out. As I mentioned also, we have our campsite reserved for the week in Cavendish, so no need to suggest campgrounds.
Thanks again

We'll definitely stop at Charlottetown Farmer's Market on our way to the campground, and after watching a video on youtube, Orwell Corner Historic Village is on our list.

Prince Edward Island

Hi Folks,
We've been to PEI ten years ago when we were living in Montreal. We flew there, didn't rent a car and stayed in the Cavendish Beach area.
This time, we are going with our camper and will be staying at Sunset campground in Cavendish. We do want to explore the island or at least part of it.
We received maps and guides from PEI tourism, but we want to know if some of you folks visited some points of interest or little villages that stood out when you were there. I'm sure guides don't tell everything and your personal input would make our trip more pleasurable.
Thanks
Dre
