RE: Nothing But Sky! The Saga of the Missing Vent Cover.

Those things are made so flimsy that if the slightest bit of wind gets up under them, they're history.
Probably blew off going down the road.
Good thing you're not in NC or you might have had to put your waders on inside.

RE: how to pump pink stuff

It depends on how you use your RV. If you wilderness camp & use your fresh tank, then that means you'll need to do a lot of flushing & purifying on that tank in the spring.
If you're like me, I only camp where there are full hook ups. Pour the antifreeze in the FW tank & you will be winterized in a matter of minutes.

RE: prodigy maxed out and won't stop 5er

You haven't bumped your Prodigy with your foot or knee & gotten it off level?
I did that one time. It about drove me crazy. It was not moved that far but sure made a difference in stopping power.

RE: Slow computer fix

I'm with skipnchar on this one.
First remove all software you don't use. Then run the above mentioned utilities to remove any viruses or adware. Then defrag the HD.
How much ram do you have?
My guess is that you don't have enough. Win XP on a 9 yr old machine is really pushing it. The OS is using up most of your resources & taxing the processor. For example: How long does it take to boot up. My guess: 5 min or more. If so you have your answer. The processor & ram can't keep up with that monsterous OS.

RE: Drain ValveLubricant

Dieselgem
I can't remember the name brand but it was the coconut oil one that chuck&gail mentioned. It was the one my local dealer stocked. The Thetford product you linked to should work fine. I think most are veggie oil based.
I have used veggie oil to lubricate my valves for years. I have slide valves on other equipment I use in my business & this is what the mfg. has always suggested.

RE: Drain ValveLubricant

I use a different brand. It is well worth it if your valves are remote & not accessible.

RE: Portable Propane grill

I've had the Coleman Road Trip for about 6 yrs. Lots of use. It works great. Absolutely the fastest cooking portable grill you'll ever find. With a 20,000 BTU burner it will cook 2.5 times faster than the Weber Q.
Both the weber & the coleman are fairly heavy & bulky grills.
I like the looks & specs of the SS grill dadechil listed above. Thanks for the link. Also looks like a reasonable cost for a quality grill.

RE: No Shower Surround

I had an older 1980's something TT that had the same setup. I was the 3rd owner of the TT. Both previous owners kept it as a park model at resorts near their homes for weekend getaways. Both previous owners had kids. The shower got lots of use.
The trailer was over 10 years old when I finally had to replace the tub due to holes in the bottom. That is when I did the same as fordsooperdooty & put up shower board over the paneling.
The paneling wasn't warped. Nor did it have any mold. It just started to delaminate a little.
I wouldn't worry too much. Just enjoy the trailer. If a problem starts to develop then address it.

RE: problems with Camping World

My experience has been exactly the opposite!
Local store (Statesville NC) staff is very friendly. Prices are good. Good inventory. Price & service are better than any other locally owned stores.
Myrtle Beach SC store (Hwy 544) I visit 4 or 5 times a year. Most staff are campers & very knowledgeable & friendly. Prices are better than the other parts stores in the area. Some of their prices are even cheaper than the local Wally World which stocks many camping items.

RE: Myrtle Beach, SC Recommendations

If you plan on staying for two weeks on the same site, you better make reservations ASAP! Although it is not quite as crowded on week days this time of year, weekends will still be packed.
This time of year the weather is fantatstic! Just got back from Ocean lakes yesterday. I've stayed at all the ocean front campgrounds at one time or another. Most are nice.
Can't say that I would recommend Lakewood. They do not have pull thru sites. Too many weird rules. Staff is indifferent & aloof.

Did you buy this at your local store?
Did you see the sales price in store or mail ad?

RE: No Good - DEAD - Prodigy- BACK IN BUSINESS

Not the same problem, but mine died too. I had no problem replacing it.
I explained to the factory rep that mine was several years old, & heaven only knows where the receipt was. They said take it to any local dealer & have them contact Tekonsha customer service. I did what they said & the local dealer had a weird look on his face but called the factory anyway.
Within a few minutes he handed me a brand new Prodigy controller & I was on my way. Can't beat that kind of service.

RE: NEED FURNACE HELP

Since your fan came on. I'll assume the temp inside your trailer is below 80. Some furnaces require a certain amount of gas pressure to light. If your gas bottles are low, you may not have enough pressure. Get them filled & try again.

RE: Front clearance lights dark

Is it loose enough inside the wall to pull it out?
You might have to disconnect the wire at the light & solder/tape on a new piece of wire & pull it from the bottom or floorboard to get you enough to splice it back in.

RE: distribution bars, dual making awful noises

The Reese dual cam hitch is about the noisiest hitch I've ever seen. Just making a normal turn, after it gets wet from rain, sounds like it's going to break the trailer tongue into pieces.
It's a good hitch, but that's the reason I wouldn't want one. You don't know if you just took out a telephone pole on that last turn, or if it was just your hitch making that gosh awful noise.

RE: Newbie Winterizing Question

Just Curious!
Why would you need a bypass kit on your fresh water tank?
If you drain the fresh tank & use your RV pump to pump the antifreeze, what would be the purpose of a fresh water tank bypass kit? How could antifreeze get back into the fresh Tank?

RE: Tire pressure when towing 38 ft 5th wheel

Not sure where that info came from. On a 5th wheel your weight is on the rear axle. It's not a weight distributing hitch so no weight is transferred to the front.
72 might be OK on the front but run the max psi for your rear tires.

RE: Carefree awning adjustment

As stated above sometimes it is the fabric that is out of alignment. If one side goes up OK & the other doesn't, recenter the fabric.
