RE: Roadtrek Gas stove .... Cover????

I have seen a baking tin used upside down. I was brushed metal and matched very well. It added to counter spacewhen the stove was not used.

RE: Pulling the valve handles on a Roadtrek

Yes, it can replace your existing pull handle valve or go in front of it. Do a search for Baker RV dump Valve and it will come up.
Here is a discription of it:
Auto Drain provides a completely automatic 12 volt push button operation of the valves that dumps your holding tanks. Auto Drain installs on your current slide valve and provides consistent power to your valve which extends its life. Available for 1 1/2 inch and 3 inch slide valves. No plumbing modifications are required. Normal installations require 1 hour or less. Constructed of corrosion resistant stainless steel, aluminum and plastic. Models for Valterra and Bristol valves.
These are used extensivly of Class A's. Rereading your post, you will need two valves. One Black and for Gray water.

RE: Pulling the valve handles on a Roadtrek

You can buy a Barker elecrtic RV dump valve for less that $120.00. It will need to wired up with a fuse or circuit breaker for a bit more cost.
You still will need to connect the dump hose on your knee or stooping over.

RE: Newbie with Dog Show Needs

I would look towards a C model. Wider with more room both iside and in the exterior storage.

RE: Downside to Sprinters?

We have the 2006 Pleasureway Plateau based on a Sprinter van. Fuel is never an issue as the tank gives you up to 600 miles on the Hwy.
We were on I-5 in CA and wind warnings were posted. There were turned over big rigs. The speed of our van into the wind caused the TV antenna to fold up and over itself. It was about as stable as a regular vehicle due to its low center of gravity.
Parking is sometimes an issue as it is 23' long. Still shorter than a dual cab pickup. Being narrower it gives you a lot of access when parked. As it is a commercial chassis and designed as a delivery vehicle it turns about 47 degrees, much sharper than my Ford E 350, this makes it easy to manuever in parking lots.
Drive-throughs can be challenging, our is 9'6" when level.
As far as failure rates. Go by the service manualfor service especially fluid changes. Change to the synthetic option after 10,000 break in period and you should be fine.
The Ford Transit looks to be a great platform as well since it already competes in Europe with the Sprinter.

RE: An Ambulance conversion

Most likely there is a 20 or 30 amp shorelinepower connection. It will have a converter/charger somewhere. So you should be good to go.
Just won't have the 12 volt to 110 option.

RE: Airstream Interstate on Sprinter

I second the real world fuel econony of the earlier Sprinter (2006).
We have never been under 18 mpg, even in the Sierras. On I-5 at the 70+ speed limit it will constantly get 20-21. On slower highways as much as 23-24 MPG.
Sitting in the garage much better. But that is not the point.

RE: Shower Retrofit?

You could purchase a water heater safety pan from a store like Home Depot. They have a fitting for a drain that you could adapt to a garden hose and simply run it out side depending on where you were staying.

RE: Pleasure way

We had some vandalism with a resulting dent in the right side rear and had to have it repaired and new graphics applied. The body shop had to order it from a Pleasureway dealer but they were able to cut new graphics.

RE: 97 Dodge B2500 chassis rear end bottoming out.

Get a price on re-arching the springs, thaen a junkyard price. IMO the re-arched will give you more service life than a used set. Plus you can have then increase the rate if you wish,
The time to RRis tha same except the re arched will be clean.

You can have your old springs re-arched for a reasonable price as well.

RE: Security system, boondocking Class B. Ideas?

I agree with Lizzie. We do a lot of white water rafting and always pay for a shuttle service that can store our vehicle for time we are on water. A lot could happen in four days.

Most big rigs handle much better in an accident. Being in a B and sleeping makes Darwin's point.

RE: Napping While Driving

You used to be able to have your kids sit on your lap and pretend to be driving as well as have people ride unrestrained in the back of an open vehicle.
It is your life, do what you want. But after thirty-three years in EMS, I will tell you don't ride unrestrained in any vehicle. Odds are nothing will happen, but I guarantee, that if something does happen, you and your family will never be the same.
This article was in paper this morning.
Two of the eight passengers in the Trailblazer were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. One of those passengers, a boy, was partially ejected and was flown to Sutter Roseville Medical Center via Calstar for treatment of major injuries.
The girl that was driving the car suffered "minor lacerations" and was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center via ambulance with three other passengers, according to the press release. Two other passengers were taken to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital with minor injuries.
The two remaining passengers were treated at the scene and did not require transport. Jenson did not sustain any injuries.
Robin Montgomery, spokesperson for Sutter Roseville Medical Center, confirmed that Andrew Carducci, a Placer High School student, was flown to Sutter Roseville Friday afternoon and was listed in critical condition.
RV's have even bigger window to be tosed out of. I rest my case.

I don't know anything about that model, but we have a Pleasureway Sprinter based B and are up the road from you in Coloma. PM me if you want to look it over or ask general questions.
