RE: Chevy or Ford

Has Chevy/GMC resolved the issue with the 5.3 where the oil disappears? A guy I work with has had his in for them to attempt a fix and another got rid of his Chevy rather than deal with the problem. I liked the Chevy I had but love this Tundra towing.

RE: Rusty at backing up TT

Keep your tires in your sightline is what has worked the best for me, pick out a point and track your tires to it. Whether looking out the door or at the mirrors is know where they are going. Every once in a while you get that over confident feeling and that is when a little struggle brings you back in check.

RE: Deviled Egg Recipes

My mothers deviled eggs always tasted the best and people love them and it is just simply mixing the yolks with Miracle Whip and salt & pepper to taste then sprinkle a little paprika over the top.

RE: Harbor Frt Cordless Drill or Impact

I bought the 18v from Harbor Freight since I did not want to take my 18v DeWalt XRP, the HF one will get the stabilizers up&down but not much else. If I use the DeWalt it wants to lift the trailer.

RE: CW does it again

I thought that maybe it was just me, I wanted to buy the Swagmen XC 2 RV bike rack with the low internet price of $169. I went through the process to order and expected free shipping to only get to the checkout and see a $40 freight charge. The put the purchase on hold for me, I work for a company that ships stuff all the time UPS and a 40 pound box should not cost $40 to ship ground. I did some online research and found a few retailers that sold it with free shipping, I ended up paying $179 with free shipping in the end. I don't think I just fell off the turnip truck, they have a right to make money, but you would think members would get some benefits.

RE: Battery Basics

Look through the paperwork you were given with the trailer and find out what type of converter/charger you have in the trailer. My Jayco came with the Iota DLS 45 and I added the IQ4 smart charger to it so I do not have the worry of overcharging while hooked up. I added a cutoff switch so while it is stored the battery is disconnected from having any draw on it. It should last a fairly long time if you take care of it and disconnect when in winter storage and when it sits for long periods of time.

RE: Illegal or not?

I have heard rumors of it, generally in a community that has a reputation for writing a lot of tickets. i think they use it as an excuse to pull you over and if they find something better they go with that and use the hitch law as a last resort.

RE: Cabela's, East Hartford, CT

Now, a question for you...going to a Univ of Pitt ve FSU in Pitt on labor day....any good place to park 4 or 5 motorhomes...Chuck yes I will be coming in 84 trying to avoid NYC on Memorial Day weekend if you are coming in for the game and tailgating, the parking lots around Heinz Field are substantial enough but I am not sure what they are charging. If you are looking for a place to stay close by, I cannot think of anything. The Rivers Casino is next door but they have a parking garage and to be honest I can't think of anything close by that is RV friendly. If you have never been to Pittsburgh, you will know what I mean once you get here. Give me some time and i will see what I can come up with.

RE: Cabela's, East Hartford, CT

Thanks for the info everyone, I have come across the parking at Mohegan Sun and even though it may be a little more driving the first day to get there right now it is a strong possibility. I have given thought to the Cracker Barrel for an overnight stay, just trying to gather as much information as I can in advance to plan a smooth trip.

Cabela's, East Hartford, CT

Taking a trip to Maine at the end of May and need an overnight stop in Connecticut. Has anyone ever stayed overnight at the Cabela's in East Hartford before?

Make Hardwired surge protector portable

Quick question, has anyone mounted a hardwired Surgeguard 34560 into a weatherproof box so it becomes more portable? I would think it could be done fairly easy with the right box and connectors. Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

RE: 50 to 30 AMP plug

Along the same line, I used the Road Power adapter I picked up at Walmart http://www.walmart.com/ip/Road-Power-50-30-Amp-RV-Power-Adapter-Cord/16817357 When packing up this weekend one leg would not pull out of the adapter and some of the rubber coating had melted inside, I finally got it apart and the adapter is slightly melted. Is this a case of running the A/C and the microwave briefly or is it more of a campground issue? I have to clean the leg up a little and both legs have a slight amount of material at the base of it.

RE: Maine

We are looking to take a trip next May and all of the information I have found her is very helpful. We are looking at leaving from Pittsburgh and stopping in Connecticut somewhere for overnight rest break and then to Freeport, ME(she wants to go to LL Bean there)stay overnight somewhere and then head out to Bar Harbor. Probably looking at staying at Hadley's Point since Bar Harbor CG does not open until Memorial Day, plenty of things could change by then but this is still early in the planning stages and what I have been able to come up with so far.

RE: Beware of Carefree’s exclusive Rain-Dump feature

Mine is a Carefree Power Awning and it has the dump feature which always made no sense to me because the only way it would build up is if I do not extend the awning all the way. I see some that come straight out but mine is on such a pitch and it is non adjustable, I do not see how it will ever need dumped. I tie mine down but I wish I could come up with a way to keep the sides from flapping in the breeze.

RE: 2013 jayco model question?

We were just at our dealer on Saturday looking around and he told us pretty much what forsooperduty said. They are dropping the superlite and making them Eagle and the Eagle is now the premier. He had some 2013's on the lot but they were Featherlites and a swift. He said Jayco does not like to release the new model years too far in advance unlike other manufacturers that release the 13 in Jan 12.
