Surprise visit

a few days ago my good friend Tioga George showed up and we spent half the day visiting. It was nice to get caught up on our latest happenings together. We also hadRamblin' Ralph join us. Poor George caught the flu while here, but seems to be better. It as always was great to see him and hear of his latest adventures. He is slowly working his way to mexico for the winter. Below is a pic Ralph took of George and I.....

RE: Definition of a "Full Time RVer"

It's realty simple. There are a dozens deflections of full-timer. Simply go down the list and pick the one that suits you best. The rest won't count. Whacky as far as Mr. Webster goes? He doesn't rule anymore ;-)

RE: Someone is missing

Dianne make sure they also give you my bonuses. I've also asked management to transfer my remaining retirement benefits to you!:B
Folks Elvis has not left the building.;) Firedude is fine and still here and will continue posting. After many years and with new grandkids and other issues it was time to step down and turn in my badge, mod badge that is. It was a great run. Besides I need to pop in now and then to stir the pot to keep Dianne on her toes.:B Moderating here was a blast and don't regret a minute of it.
By the way I finally got my Budget Worksheet hosted thanks to Rodger so those who would like it see the sticky at the top and you no longer have to PM me and get it emailed.
As a mod here for years all I can say is you all have been a great bunch and it's been such a pleasure. Sometimes it can be a very thankless position and to do it has to be something you would definitely want to do. I'd also like to say you have a great bunch of mods here on RV.net and should be very grateful as they all truly care. About the best bunch you could ever hope for. Now based on that please don't turn this into a mod bashing thread or I may have to request my powers back.;):B
Anyway Firedude is alive and well and will be visiting frequently.;)

RE: What is the definition of a Recreation Vehicle??

As garym114 stated in his post "Temporary" living quarters. In all aspects, an RV is just that. A "Temporary" Living Quarters. And that "Temporary" living quarters designation is something Full-time RV'ers might have trouble with in the next year or so.
I haven't had any trouble the last 7 years and don't expect any anytime soon. I have a permanent street address all legal and my place of residence. No laws against travel should I elect to do so. Full-timers have been around since the covered wagon and expect they'll be around a few more years. ;) My Rv is not a temporary living quarters, it's permanent. I defy anyone to prove me otherwise lol.

RE: Full Timing and Inflation

Actually Barb I'm not sure you totally understand the Canadian health system, I have several close friends and one relative who are Canadians. First off they have health insurance just like we do and for those who can't afford it or whatever yest the health system takes care of them HOWEVER you move way down on the totem pole many times and those with insurance are taken care of first. Hopefully in those cases they get things taken care of before you die. THAT was exactly what we were worried about with our family member. She darn near died before her "number" came up on the totem pole. We almost brought her here as she was running out of time so to speak, but it finally worked out. They do have a good system for the most part, but it like anything else has some major drawbacks. I have family that has experienced this many times and it was not elective type treatment. It was a necessity. I'm afraid they would disagree with you.

RE: Hearing Aids

Since I wear them (digital)(thank you guns and sirens lol) the main thing I'd be concerned with is often you need to have them readjusted or worse yet a warranty issue and not being in country or close might be of concern. Had a friend in the states who bought a pair in Mexico and something went wrong with them and he couldn't get anyone to work on them. Mexico doe sell brands though that are internationally recognized and traded like here. Just be careful. Hearing aids are a very important part of a good quality life so just do all your research to include warranty, if they can be serviced in the states and other related issues.;)

RE: Full timing definition

A full time RVer is anyone who consideres herself a full timer. ;) No one elses' definitions matter.
There ya be. Best definition yet. Why would anyone worry if they meet the standards of another?? As long as you enjoy doing what you are doing the rest doesn't count. Call it what you may/wish. This forum is for everyone. No prerequisites.

Been with Progressive 7 years now and rates have even gone down. I've been very satisfied. Thus far the others have been unable to beat them with the same coverage.

RE: Choosing state residency for FT

I feel regular maintenance by owners would curtail most things like lights, tires and such. I wouldn't want nor need to have to return somewhere to an inspection station to have routine items checked I can do myself. Seems to be a lot of hassle for things that should be routine maintenance items people should be performing. I would prefer a state that does not require inspections simply because those are things most can do themselves. Even if it's only required upon retuning to the state. Just another hassle and again things I can do myself.
