RE: towing with 2007 trailblazer ???????

I've done similar.. Similar size trailer but a larger SUV (Explorer V8 with 3.73). It will do it but you will not like it at all, nor will the SUV.

RE: Uncomfortable Pulling Trailer

Not enough information but it sounds like you are too light on the hitch. Tail wagging the dog situation. A 2500 HD CTD should have you feeling pretty much at ease in the seat. You should be driving with one hand on the wheel and a smile on your face. You'll feel bucking with a TT when going over rollers., I assume that is the push pull you are talking about. but the sway is not normal.

RE: Idling diesels all night

Lots of Stuff - You're just trying to be difficult. Sleeping in your truck camper which is in/on your truck is NOT sleeping in your truck.. It's sleeping in your RV which has all the comforts of home including a furnace and AC.

RE: Idling diesels all night

I bet if you were sleeping in your truck you'd likely idle it all night long unless it was one of those perfect summer days/nights.

RE: extreme propane usage

If you're going to stay a while I'd look into renting a 100 - 200lb tank dropped off and hook into that.

RE: Prayers for the folks in Connecticut :-(

Why is it the name of the perpetrator is remembered, but nobody remembers the name of any victim? Let's all make a vow to resist mentioning the name(s) of these people, and instead remember the victims. Let's throw the perps into the dustbin of history where they belong, and FORGET them! Here's where the media comes into play. They should just SHUT UP and stop running story after story after story. Now we have to worry about the copy cats that want their 15 minutes of fame. The names of the perpetrators shouldn't even be released, only those of the vicitims. I agree 100% The media is to blame for these events IMO. Why would a person do this? The only reason is for the reaction they know they'll get, Giving them titles like "Deadliest gunman" only makes it worse. They should be labeled as cowards and treated like the garbage they are. In the end, it's unfortunate this low life coward took his own life as he deserved much worse. Now that he is dead he should be discarded like the trash he is/was and forgotten about. Let the papers write about the victims and the victims only. My thoughts are with all those who's lives have been forever altered by this event.

RE: Converting my dully to a 10 wheel drive to handle Toyhauler

You've done very well in your selection, it seems. Now you have 'nuff truck' to slow and control the load nicely. I'm always amazed at the folks whose only concern is wether there is enough engine to get up the hill. Forgetting that you've got to come down the other side. And NO, the trailer brakes are NOT designed to do that! lol Idot: One with not enough brains to be an idiot. They're everywhere it seems. ;^) Sorry, couldn't help commenting on some of the 'off the wall' posts. lol ROFLMAO - OK, you're right.. Lets all go out and buy class 8 trucks then, everything else just wont do. :h My comment was based on the fact that it is suggested the heavy truck is required to stop the trailer.. No it's not, you are wrong. If YOU feel it's needed then I suppose each to their own. We each drive within our own limits and what makes us feel comfortable is likely due to experience or lack of experience much like almost everything in life. Practice and knowledge is key. Some guys can haul heavy live loads and others it makes nervous. Bottom line is braking should be balanced . If you are depending on the TV brakes to transfer all that energy you may want to think about your idiot joke.. They say skunks don't smell their own stink.. OP: I never considered the brakes failing! Lets take it further, maybe 2 wheels fall off the trailer as well and there is a 100MPH tail wind pushing us down a 15% grade mountain pass with hair pin turns and angry grizzly bears all around all while the sun is in our eyes and the bridge is out ahead! :D joking ofcourse.. We can justify our actions however we want too but you don't need a reason to do what you love doing or want to do if no one is getting hurt. As I said, I appreciate your project for what it is and it's fun to watch it progress. No need to make excuses as to why you do it. (That is what I was trying to say)

RE: Buying used diesels...

Funny.. There is always a sense of outrage and wonder from people when things break after all the aftermarket parts are put on plus suprise when the dealer tells them to take a walk on the warranty. I'm not sure why it's a suprise, does it not state on stickers all over under the hood that if you alter the volumes of the engine that the waranty is void? I'm pretty sure my 5.9 had that plastered all over. I've recently been looking for a newer yet used diesel. I can tell you I don't give any truck a second look that has been modified and "tinkered" with. The value in my opinion is dropped to near worthless. All the money spent on intakes, programers and exhaust just screams one thing to me.. "I beat the pi$$ out of my truck and engine when I can". Am I wrong?

RE: Converting my dully to a 10 wheel drive to handle Toyhauler

With your TV, mountains should be no problem. Neither should stopping. Good show.. Thank you. I kind of think that wether it be dodge. Ford. Chevy. There is just to much RV to stop in a panic situation. And after being there myself. I don't want the death of no one to be on me because I was stupid in my judgement. Your truck brakes are not responsable for stopping the load behind it, only on it or in it, the other is the job of your trailer brakes which if the trailer is loaded within it's limits (as is the truck)should be no problem. Now there is some skill required in pulling a trailer that is heavier than the TV however that is not something that is unheard of, every 18 wheeler on the road falls into that catagory as well as just about every RV. I can appreciate your project for what it is, it's fun to watch it progress.

RE: Good Areas For Camping in Ontario

Arrowhead Provincial Park is on a great lake. There are some private cabins near-by. We are currently in Costa Rica in a cabin overlooking the Pacific Ocean on a small tablet so we can give you more suggestions when we get home. PAM and Dave Arrowhead provincial park has a lake in it but it's not a "Great lake". It's an OK lake at best.. ;)

You'll need to drive a bit. Look at the Ontario Provinical Parks website for ideas and parks near you. You will really like the provincial parks.

RE: Using compressed wood bricks/fuel for campfires?

From their site: 1 ton of ECO-BLOCKS is equal in volume to 1 cord of wood. It has 2 times the density of wood and has 1.5 times the BTU output of wood. It burns up to 2-1/2 times longer than cord wood. It burns up to 2-1/2 times longer than a cord of split fire wood! but takes up half the space. Great idea but I'm suprised they can make these claims. What type of wood are they talking about? I burn and handle a LOT of wood, the type of tree dictates the BTU and length of burn, they don't post the numbers to be able to compare. I noticed their price list seems a bit wonky.. You can buy 1/2t of Bio blocks for $1300 or 1t for $400.. :h My inital thought was smell as I know some fabricated wood I've burnt stinks but maybe not the case here as suggested no binders or addatives. I'd be interested if they provided supporting facts and figures.

RE: Opinions on 2006 Ram 2500 Mega Cab.

my neighbor buddy has a 2008 3500 mega cab bone stock except for a leveling kit and tires. he has a 30' FW TH and the first time he hooked it up the back end squatted atleast 4 inches.. He and i were both in shock....Mind you the weight of Weekend warrior TH's has always been questionable..but this was a superlite model and the trailer was completely empty...I was sure that after getting the quads and water in it that the weight would equalize and his truck would sit close to level......not so We ended up adding a set of AirLift brand air bags and 20 psi is all it took to level it out.. He added a leveling kit and you're surprised the nose sat high when you loaded it? :h.

RE: Should I do this?

So you posted a question looking for opinions, went off found some other advice while people gave their opinion, return back apparently with all the answers from "much smarter people" and then critisize the opinions of those who gave them? To go as far as to say you have seen this go wrong before, the EXACT SAME scenario? Are you trolling? Appears to me you were just looking to flame someone.. Appears to me like you had your mind made up before you posted. 5 minutes of my life wasted here.. Okay I'm not done :B I just want to clear the air. I DO appreciate honest opinions. That's why I asked the question to begin with. I DON'T however think a simple question deserves derogatory statements like "I bet people have to sign liability waivers just to step on your property"...and "I hope you printed out a bunch of those liability waivers for the next time he helps you". I'm sorry, but statements like that come across as derogatory and a little judgemental. With that said, my frustration was not directed at everyone who responded. NOW...I am done :B Oh and P.S. the fleet vehicle I was going to give him became unavailable...so I DID take most of your advice in the end. I will be taking him in my truck this morning to pick it up. I understand now, I guess I took it all the wrong way or wasn't considerate of some of the other posts. In the end, you're doing exactly what I would do. I'd take my neighbor with me to pick up his new trailer in my truck.
