RE: Induction Range top ??

I have used a Fagor portable for the last year, love the unit, probably used the LP stove twice. The Fagor unit is not cool to the touch after using, since the glass surface heats-up, however the heat dissipates faster than a conventional stove. If we were to purchase a new unit, Induction Cooktop would be on the "must have" list. Fred

RE: Gasser rides like lumber wagon

Why not? Harold the "P" Chassis is Ford not Workhorse! Get it right folks: "P" chassis were originally produced by GM, later by Workhorse. Ford chassis are F53. Fred

RE: Allison 1000

Granted TES 295 fluid does cost a few bucks more but MY transmission shifts better and runs cooler with it, as verified with my digital scan gauge monitoring transmission fluid temperature. Transmissions are expensive. Transmission fluid is cheap. I would rather use what Allison recommends than a less expensive fluid that I MAY be able to get by with. I had the same experience when I went with Transynd fluid. Fred

RE: Allison 1000

They were (and still are) trying to tell the consumer that their fluids pass both the GM DEXRON-IIIH and the Ford MERCON specifications. Note: I know this because I used to be on the GM Automatic Transmission Fluid Committee that granted GM DEXRON-IIIH licenses. In fact, I go back to 1990 when GM still had the DEXRON-II and DEXRON-IIE specifications. Back to the original question, I know a broken record, can consumers be safe using D3M products in Allison Transmissions? Fred

RE: Allison 1000

What am I missing, I didn't see any Dextron III brand products, just the equivalent products. Back to the previous recommendations, Dextron Brand is no longer approved. Fred

RE: Reducing Norcold Fire Hazard????

Is a new recall or the old recall The recall information is from 2010, I would say that if you have any Q's call Norcold. Fred

RE: Grand Junction to Provo

The I70 to 191/6 is the way to go. The 191/6 is a two lane road with a truck passing lane on most of the grades. There are several grades in the 6% range that are short about one mile from bottom to top then down hill for a mile. Then several miles relative flat then another grade. The problem! there is a fair amount of truck traffic. You may catch a truck on a up hill. But if he is going within 10 mph of your desired or capable speed up the hill I recommend you follow him to the top. On the down side the truck will most likely get into the 80mph range and if you stick with posted speed or in my case 65 mph as that is my max tow speed you will not see that truck again. But if you pass him on the up grade he will be very close to your tail going down the down side and will pass you when you think he should not. Now the problem! you have held him up and you will most likely catch him on the next up grade only to go through all of this again. The second time the trucker will push you much harder. By slowing down to let the truck over the hill may cost you 5 minutes of time on the whole trip. Now you why I don't like that route. The accident rate is too high, lots of people will pass on double yellow. Fred

RE: Allison 1000

I haven't switched to Transynd because I can get a case of Dexron iii for $20 at Costco. I do my own changes so it's cheap and easy. Check out the fluid you are using, Allison has dropped Dextron III from the approved listings, seems the formula has been changed. Fred
