RE: Trip to Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper: advice?

Dress warm for camping near the ice fields. Every time we travel hwy 93 in the summer, it has been snowing @ the icefields. I hiked them as a kid. Now I stop for a token picture and move on. Re. Jasper. Whistler is our cg of choice. We'll be camping next to the river, at Wabasso, when the kids are older. Our annual must see are pyramid , Maligne canyon, & Athabasca falls.
We would head home down hwy 5, & spend 2 nights at Wells Gray prov park.

RE: Second spare tire for FW?

What's your itinerary like. Do you have time to kill a long weekend in a village, waiting for a.tire shop to open on Tuesday. Once, when going fishing to northern saskatchewan, I had a mad rush back to civilization. Scared to end up on the side of a gravel road for a long weekend. Arrived at a tire shop just as the techs were washing up. No sense negotiating on tire prices @ 4:55 pm on Friday of a long weekend. I also pack plugs and a good compressor.

RE: Jasper park all booked up in one minute?

Just checked the website. For July long. Loops 29 & 30 each have over 7 sites still available for over 35' units. Some side by side.
Sorry. My bad. Cant delete post. Saw you found sites.

RE: Canadian Park Pass

If you belong to AAA you can get a small discount (8%) on the yearly family pass. You'd likely have to drop in to a motor association here in Canada and show your AAA card to get it.
Thanks. Never used my card for my annual.

RE: Jasper park all booked up in one minute?

My brother and I reserved the exact sites we wanted. Other brother was 4 days late reserving. Luckily he got a power site in our loop. Each member on his own computer. Worked great. Like it better than old system. Better than Saskatchewan's system as well.

RE: Govt or Provincial CMPG's from Calgary to Dawson Creek

We travel a portion of 93 every year and never get bored. You might want to look into 'the cowboy trail', hwy 22, to see some other territory. Through the foothills. Cochrane to Emtwistle. Crimson lake provincial park, outside rocky mountain house, is a nice spot, (we spent a week there last summer with our 3 preschoolers). Then I would head west on hwy 16 and head up hwy 40 (west of Hinton). William Switzer prov park is a great spot as well(get a reservation for weekends). From there head north into Grande Prairie. Imho

RE: Which guide book for RV camping in BC/Alberta?

I havent had much luck with finding a good guide for BC. But tourism Alberta puts out a fairly respectable guide. I keep a current one in the 5er and one in the house.

RE: Trailer Length in National & Provincial Parks in Canada

X2. I have a 26'fw and have 15 extra feet to spare at whistler, right now. I learned my lesson and reserve for total length, not just fw length. Serviced sites definitely have more room to maneuver than unserviced. Today I saw a fellow pull a 25'fw with a class 8 tandem freightliner. Didn't go into a pull through, either.

RE: Will I find an available camping spot - Banff/Jasper

In my experience, you wont have a problem finding a site after labour day. 2 jack lakeside is beutiful, tunnel mountain is convienient. They wouldn't take reservations after labour day long weekend when I tried 4 years ago. Typing this while at whistler campground in Jasper.

RE: Tail Lights and Clearance Lights

X2 bad ground or bad connection or splice. get a 12 volt test light and determine if you have power before and after the switch. If you poke threw the wire insulation, you'll be a mechanics best friend, someyear down the road. Just check at the switch terminals.
Any burnt relays?
