RE: fuel filler hose cost??

Labor charge was for 3 hours at $90.00. So they got me there as well. I was underneath it, two clamps, one on each end, easy to get to. Was going to do it my self but needed refrig. recall done and figured one hour labor and 80.00 for a hose so decided to take to them. Won't go to them again.
One poster on another forum said he did his in about an hour. I was ready to grant them two hours so was thinking $260.00, not 446.00.I think I would be more bent out of shape over the labor charge than the hose.
So your saying it was $147.00 plus $270 - total of $417.00 for the repair??? I would have yelled my head off and backed into the nicest RV on the lot as I left. OK, I exaggerate a bit....but I would have yelled.

RE: install rv power awning on home?

I think the homeowners model would be more economically priced than the one for an RV.

RE: What's in your tool box?

What to carry can end up being a shoe box sized box with pliers and a crescent wrench to a half a roll-a-way tool box.
I have a canvas bag (BTW: canvas bags take up a lot less space than a box) with a drill motor and bits, a 4" disc grinder and the drill motor charger and batterys.
I have another canvas bag with wrenches, sockets, breaker bar and ratchet, various slip joint pliers. Electrical and duct tape, bailing wire and on the bottom various sized hose clamps all same brand so they can be used together and two handfuls of nuts and bolts loose on the bottom of the bag.

RE: Where does my tv plug in?

I'm guessing that since you said you can't find the socket, your TV is a 110 volt TV. But it doesn't matter.
I'd suggest making sure the power is off to the proper voltage draw and just clip the wire at the TV and then splice the wires from the new TV to the existing wire. Put the splice in a small electrical box and your good to go. Just make sure your keep the polarity the same.

RE: Trouble Free Motorhome Owner?

Bought a new gas Dutch Star and like all new MH's I had to sort out the problems and had quite a few issues for two years. Traded it in for a used Fleetwood Expedition and in the last 8 years of fulltiming I've had to replace two inverters, tires, one engine overheating issue and a turbo hose. Yes, I've been very lucky but I do take good care of the small issues before they become a problem. Nearly a 100 thousand miles on it now.

RE: NASCAR at it finest ........huh?

A long race at the dirt track is 25 or 30 laps. Lots of action and I find going there to me much more interesting that sitting in the living room watching Nascar. I still watch both, but if you want to see some real driving and tossing cars into the corners hit a dirt track once.Actually, your absolutely correct. And it doesn't matter if its SuperModifieds or Jalopy racing. Budgets are tiny compared to NASCAR but the desire to win is just as apparent. Tempers flair and a win is a big deal.

RE: fuel filler hose cost??

That sounds really out of line to me. But I have nothing but my gut hunch to back up my theory.
I paid $44.00 for a 14" "formed" air hose from my intake manifold to the air compressor from Cummin's. I thought that was out of line but it is a dealer item.
On edit: If the hose is made of Viton it could very well be that expensive. Viton is used on petroleum products for hoses and gaskets. Had to use it on drycleaners because the Percloretheyne would disolve most any other fabric hoses.

RE: Colorado River Adventures

We have CRA and use it to full benefit. We enjoy the parks and use them regularly. Having said that:
Be careful on the aftermarket CRA memberships. Make sure you get the full story directly from CRA on a potential used membership purchase. CRA makes it very expensive to transfer memberships. They aren't as purchaser friendly as others, ie: Thousand Trails.

RE: Another steep driveway question

I would forget a ramp and just add a ramp of 2x6s to raise the front wheels perhaps two boards high?? Nothing fancy, just a long 2' 2x6 on the bottom and a shorter, 1' 2x6 on the top.

RE: Few Repair/Maintance questions for new RV owner

Good response to your query. I'd add to check the fan clutch as the cause of the overheating. When the temp rises to 210 + or - a few degrees, you should hear a definite change in engine noise. You should detect, easily, a definite roar indicating that the fan has engaged and is now pulling air through the radiator.
Good advice on the U-Joint(s) and carrier bearing. Throw a quilt over the engine hump and see if that quietens things down a lot. If so, the leakage is around the engine hump and lack of insulation to quieten things down.
If it doesn't....learn to live with it. :(
Perhaps your belt is't tight enough on the AC?? Is it the right belt?? Pitch and width?

RE: fleetwood southwind 1996 34 foot petrol chevy

I think that the emergency brake on your RV is a drum and pads on the driveshaft. Crawl under and the adjustment should be apparent.
Changing out the pump is a pretty straight forward task. Probably one bolt that it pivots on for adjustment and another to secure the adjustment. Two hoses.

Its all about promotion and showmanship. (maybe show-womanship) :)
There are a lot of drivers who go down in the history of the sport and remembered for their dominant driving skills. Well deserved.
Danica will also go down in the NASCAR history and be remembered for her _________ . You fill in the blank.

RE: Charging 12V Batteries in Parallel

Hi hershey,
Yup--and I'll continue to post the BEST possible way to do things.
Go ahead and recommend less than optimal solutions that will damage a battery bank over time. I'd define the original suggestion as poor answer--not "absolutely correct" to quote you. It is safe--but it is not best practice.
This is best known as a "Gotcha'" :) :)
