Best Route from Gillette to Cody, Wy
We will be driving the motor home with toad from Gillette to Cody in late June. What route do you recommend? Also, what would you recommend seeing on the way?

RE: Remco Driveshaft Disconnect
If you look on the Remco website they tell you that they no longer sell drive shaft disconnects, but tell you to call Melinda at Southwest Drivelines (928)782-3611 or David at Drive Shaft King (800)442-6329.
I was purchasing a Toyota 4Runner and checked with Remco and they said they had no information on my vehicle. When I asked about my 06 Tacoma which has a Remco drive shaft disconnect their website referred me two the people above. Dave at Drive Shaft King said they could convert my old Remco unit for the 4Runner.
Incidently, I have had the Remco unit for 6 years and with an annual treatment of WD40 in the spring it has been working well.

If you fulltime, always plug in, have solar, run genset a lot, have a ton of batteries, I can see where you don't need the relay.
When I forget and leave ours on, I have a low or dead house battery in a week or so.
I forget the details, but as I recall there are two types that do the same thing but accomplish it with different wiring. Neither uses power once switched (to On or to Off, which is why it's called a Latching Relay), but they work differently. It sounds like yours latches from an ON/OFF switch that stays in a position till you move it. Ours works on a momentary contact rocker switch.
The link I found HERE is just the first place I found a picture. They're readily available. The KIB company (monitor panels) offers it, for instance.
Still, if your circumstances let you get by without it, go for it if that's the way you want to go.
Looks some what similar. I would like to replace it before I store the coach.

It is commonly called the "salesman" switch and its sole role was to shut down the 12v power at the end of the day on the sales lot. It serves NO purpose to the RVer, except to fail at the most inopportune time. It is NOT needed and is easily bypassed. At the large relay, unhook one of the large red wires on it and move it to the other side and bolt the 2 wires on the same post. Unhook one of the small control wires and tape the end so it will not short out and you are set to go. Most of us with Monaco coaches have done this, many times before we got into a bind and it works very well.
That's how I am operating now.

Need Monaco Domestic 12 Volt Relay
I have a switch just inside the door on my 97 Monaco Dynasty which I believe goes back to a relay on the rear run plate which shuts down all the 12 volt power in the coach. The relay is about 1-1/2'' in diameter and about 2" high with 4 posts. Does anyone know where I can get one of these relays?

It may be obvious, but it needs to be mentioned that the laminate should be on top and cut first. If you do use a saber saw, cut from the bottom.

jferre9570-I think the 909513 is the white controller which is sealed and Flight Systems doesn't rebuild them.
sjholt-I think your solution will turn out to be what is needed. I was trying to get around the $202 price tag that pplmotorhomes charges. They appear to be the cheapest.
sbishop-There is no movement of the linkage while it is clicking. The step illumination light turns of and on with the clicking. Is there a test to verify the controller is working? Kwikee's test seems to just verify the step is functioning which it does, but the stop function seems to not sense a proper load and turns back on.

Kwikee Step Series 35 Controller 909513
I have a problem with my Series 35 Kwikee Steps. There is a hum and clicking sound which keeps on going as long as the step is closed. Initially I suspected the motor, but it runs fine when I manually connect it to power without the controller. The battery power and grounds are all OK and the step functions as it should, but keeps making a noise which sounds as it is trying to make the motor turn off and on. I suspect the controller is at fault. Does anyone know where I can get a 909513 controller?

Kwikee Step Series 35 Motor
I need a replacement motor for my Series 35 Kwikee Step. I have seen Taurus lift motors being used for Series 23 & 25, but nothing for a Series 35. Has anyone had any experience with this series?

RE: Best tow bar- Falcon all terrain or Blue Ox?
My friend and I stopped at Blue Ox in Pender, NE to get our tow bars reconditioned. It cost me about $26.00. My friends tow bar was very old and had been repaired by him and was not salvageable. They sold him a rebuilt unit for about $26.00.

My Roadmaster aluminum Sterling tow bar has a closed channel on each arm. The straight safety cables thread through the channel. It's impossible for the cables to become pinched or come in contact with any pin.
I've seen other mention pins coming lose and I've always suspected tampering.
I always keep at least one arm locked. With the keys in the ignition it would be easy for someone to steal the vehicle.

The key I use in the ignition has no chip in it so the vehicle won't start.

Tow Bar Locking Pins
The pins in my tow bar were pins with a ring that folds over them, commonly found on tractor 3-point hitches. Mine came off one tow bar arm and the 1/2" pin came out too. Luckily I noticed my toed trying to pass me in my rear-view monitor. My M&G brake straighten the toed by lightly braking, so I was able to pull off the road. I suspect one of my cables popped the pin off. I now have purchased locking pins from Blue Ox, but small padlocks would be cheaper. Seems like a no-brainer now.

I don't recall anyone mentioning that if you are feeding the electrical signal from the coach, you should have diodes installed to prevent damage to circuits in your car.

Sometimes spiders get in the burner area weaving webs. I have had the same problem and a blast of air seemed to clear up the problem.

I too like both maps and GPS, but neither tell you the quality of the road. On my last trip from San Diego to Kansas City I would use my atlas to find alternate routes then I would post a question on this forum under "routes and roads". I got great information on the road conditions. Several highways were not four lane, but I found that several had passing lanes which eased congestion.

Not sure about all that salt. .The salt is flushed out after it desolves the minerals that have been attracted to the resin inside the softener tank. After you flush the dissolved minerals and salt, you will find very little salt left. Then you start the process over again until the resin attracts so many minerals that it quits working (abt 3 weeks or so) and you add the salt to desolve the minerals again, and flush everything out.. The salt doesn't stay in the system. And the Flow Pur uses a dollars worth of table salt, not rock salt, to dissolve and flush the system.
For every grain of calcium or magnesium you will replace it with 2 grains of sodium. While most of the salt is rinsed out there is still too much for someone on a low salt diet. If you can use a water softener at home you can use it with an RV. Potassium chloride can be used instead of table or rock salt if you are on a low salt diet.

I had the same problem with mine, follow the wireing from the pump,and it goes to a compartment where the leveling unit is, the stuff in the compartment knocked the plug out.check it first

Power Gear Levelers Not Working
My neighbor has a 2004 Fleetwood DP and the leveling jacks are not working. The control panel does not light up. I pulled the quick connect off the back of the control panel and it did not show any voltage. My only experience is with H&W jacks. Any suggestions?
