You mean you didn't see him on "The Apprentice" representing Camping World or "The Secret Millionaire" undercover?

RE: Replaced the table with reclining loveseat

I think Loveseats should be an option in all TC's. We use a leather one in our 5er. It gets more use than the dinette.

RE: Full-timing with an infant

The problem I had with a toddler is all the switches in a Class A. I can remember my son hitting the air horns at 2 am. Another favorite stunt was to start the generator (or at least crank it over) from the bedroom convenience switch.
We've been in many Cls A's where the slideout switches are in the hallway and easily bumped by adults.
We started out with a 5er and taking our just turned 4yo DGD with us on the road. We never had any problems with switches because they were always in a high closed cabinet. One time with the gas oven knobs were within her reach.
Luckily, the space is so small, we could keep a good eye on her.

RE: Canadians buying RV lots in Florida

We bought a lot in north GA last year. It was a For sale by owner and they are carrying the contract. We didn't want to hassle looking for financing as we were in TX at the time.
Found it online through RVProperty.com.
I'm sorry, we found ours on Lots for sale

RE: Chalet's TC Washer and Dryer pictures

I've been following Chalet's posts on Facebook. Someone pointed out they have the 2014 all decked out for sale in TX. MSRP of over $72k, but their price was $62+. Not your everyday camper.

RE: North Carolina natives

I suggest everyone who currently lives there is a North Carolina resident. :h
We are sort of. We're in Charlotte living in an RV Park paying NC income tax and sales taxes. Been here since mid-January. But we're only here for another month.
In the last 8 years, we've also lived in Statesville 2005-06 and Mount Airy 2009-10. We even bought a new RV when we lived in Statesville. But it had FL plates.

RE: Window Fabrics, bed covers, etc

We've redecorated in stages.
First, we ordered our unit with the best neutral fabric selection instead of a primary color they had at the time: Golden Brown. The same gold fabric that was on the couch is on the cornices. I'd rather have crème walls than the golden yellow. But that was beyond our limits of ordering.
But then we moved out most of the neutral furniture into the trade-in, put in our leather Lazyboy's, added area rugs (we're on our 3rd set), added the curtains I had made for previous Suite. The cornices hold the tension curtain rods quite well. Then where I didn't have a curtain to fit, I bought a few coordinating panels and found throw pillows in matching colors. I'm always making new afghans with bright yarn to protect the leather headrest.
When the pillows wear out, or I get tired of them and the other curtain panels, I can buy new ones at Target that coordinate.
With purchased pictures from our travels, ours feels colorful, completely unique, not Cookie Cutter. That's why we love 5th wheels over MH's. It's easier to switch furniture, etc.

RE: French Toast Casserole...Yum

Breakfast casseroles are getting more popular.
But I grew up on broiled French Toast (no spices). Could never stomach the soggy pan-fried style. Even from restaurants, it left me wanting Mom's style with a twist-Sourdough or Wheat bread for more flavor.

RE: Living FT in RV while moving to a new Town: ideas?

Good idea to rent before you buy. Living in TT will give you some experience in neighborhoods, etc.
We thought we'd be moving to FL in 2004, started in an Extended Stay the first month, then we signed a 7 mo lease and moved all our furniture and stuff down to apt w/garage. DH got his DL and set up a UPS Store address because the apt complex was gated and the UPS Store could receive pkgs for us when we traveled.
Then decided we'd rather live in an RV than have elephants romping overhead after midnight. So we had to pack everything up and move it back to one of our sons who had storage. Also found FL wasn't all it was cracked up to be, so we were thankful we hadn't bought a house afterall.

RE: DirecTV Spot Beams/Local Channels

DirecTV "could" change your location turning off the old and turning on the new. Dish Network does it all of the time. Receiving the programming where you are staying is perfectly fine. DirecTV just happens to take an unfriendly stance toward making these changes.
That's exactly what they do for us as Fulltimer's. We get NY/LA/and Locals (where we pay those state taxes)
We were DirecTV customers even before they spread around the country. We preordered the receivers about a month before they arrived at Hi Fi Buys. Back then, all that was available was DNS. We got LA stations and Atlanta stations. Worked for us, since ATL was local.
Then the FCC got involved when local channels balked at losing their target customers. So we had to sign a waiver from some of them. CBS, maybe FOX were involved.

RE: SD Drivers License Renewal

Federal law requires all states to verify the identity of all persons this way. Your troubles ,regretably for you , are not an SD issue. In any state you would have had to prove yourself the same way.
Can we get back on topic about the pending online renewal?
Beg to disagree with that.
One of my sons just went through the South Dakota mess, getting license renewed.
However, the other son moved from North Dakota to Washington last summer. Went into DMV in Washington state with just his ND license and came out with new Washington license.
Not sure why Washington happened the way it did, but surely illustrates that not all are applying what obviously should be applied nation wide.
The state of Georgia refused to follow the Real ID Act until this last July. Luckily, I was aware of the change before I did my renewal last year (without an address change) and had all the original documents with me. Certified BC, Marriage License, SS Card, 2 other proof of addresses (bank statements, utility bills). After filling out the form with all the other states I've had a DL and any other names I've used, they scanned everything into their computer.
Now I have my Gold Star "Secure ID compliant" DL with 3 (ugly) photos, instead of the usual 2 that I've had since the 80's...
But unlike WA & NY that have an Enhanced DL, I still need a Passport to cross into Mexico, Bermuda or Canada. Unless that's changed in the last couple of years.

RE: Sweet potatoes...am I late to the game?

About two years ago, we started eating frozen SP fries. Then last year, we began ordering Sweet Potatoes instead of Baked/Mashed at restaurants.
So it was an easy transition to buying the plastic wrap ones to microwave. Finally, a few months ago, I got brave and now use standard SP's and microwave them.
Have found a SP Biscuit recipe on I.am.your.pancreas blogspot with honey. Paula Deen also has one I want to try, but I never have any leftovers. We can use one SP cut in half for the both of us.

RE: Maine Seacoast Sights

We drove from Fredericksburg, VA to Boothbay Harbor in 2006 to stay in a B&B. During the drive we noted a few CG's we could return to some day.
Definitely loved Boothbay Harbor area for Food, Views and History. We took the trolley down to the city of Boothbay for groceries and then walked back.
They were restoring the HMS Bounty tall ship that just sunk off the NC coast during Hurricane Sandy.

RE: DirecTV Spot Beams/Local Channels

Our Billing Address and Service address are always different. Sometimes in different Time Zones, too.
DirecTV will change it for us everytime we call. It just takes a couple of calls, because they may spell street names wrong. We do it at least 2-3X a year. When we're drifting between projects, we depend on the NY/LA stations more.

RE: ? Octaspring Mattress?

We can't afford to test one out for you. But we have tested a Denver Mattress. We went to a store in Erie, PA and because of height, we chose the Durango. The salesman said it had individually wrapped coils vs their Dr's Choice brand.
I noticed they now do RV sizes. Qn 60x75 and King 72x80
We have tested my daughter's Tempurpedic. A little too firm for me. She eventually put it into the guest room and bought a Euro top for the master bedroom. That's how we tested it.

RE: RDS Auxilary Fuel Tank

DH installed an RDS 50g in our 2008 that we picked up at Northern Tool. He had a few problems with leaks and the tool box didn't work well.
So when we bought the 2010, we upgraded to a Transfer Flow and paid someone else to install it. Then we bought a larger tool box.

RE: who has done a complete renovation

We hate cookie cutter houses and RV's. So we've done a few basic mods to our 5er to make it more comfortable and unique without spending too much money.
Such as replaced day/night shades with residential honeycomb, curtains (some off store shelves, some I sewed), throw rugs, comforters, residential Qn mattress, Lazy Boy loveseat and recliner, residential- faucets, showerhead and toilet seat. Also added a cat tree so the cats have a good view. Then we removed a wall sconce, put a plate over it and hung a lightweight mirror so I can wash dishes and watch TV. Have also added new bathroom cabinet w/door frames only which DH added the mirrors and also had the factory build door frames to put in open grill for easy remote control access to DTV receiver/ DVD player.
Eventually, we'd like to redo the window valances, add residential fridge and redo the countertops. But that will be a few years down the road...
We have nice cabinets, but if your cabinet boxes were good, it would be easier and less costly to make new doors only.
