RE: Summer Trip To Mountains

dadd45. Had an idea that my remarks would stir up some discussion. Certainly lots of beautiful scenery in both AND in the others in our great land.

RE: Summer Trip To Mountains

craigandsue. While the area you are planning to visit is lovely and at times breathtaking, "The Mountains" are somewhat further east, ie; The Smokies, The Appalachians, The Blue Ridge, The Adirondacks, The White Mountains, The Green Mountains, etc.
Hope you enjoy your trip.

RE: Garmin 255 W maps

sunline1 . You've got it, 2010 maps (this years, coming up) plus the first revision. Doubt there is a "2010". Garmin updates their maps periodically and you usually get several free with a new unit, then you have to start paying for them. You can also buy "lifetime" updates for a little bit more than one update. No problem downloading these to the unit with a USB adapter.I use the one that came with my Olympus camera.

RE: Salt Damage to Vehicles in South Texas?

RV Missouri. Of course, no beach, no salt spray. However, many of the nicer parks, maybe all, have irrigation systems for their grass. These use VERY HARD water, lots of calcium. Some have nozzles carefully directed away from the parking slab, but, it gets windy in THe Valley and in spite of their good intentions, this spray will get on your RV. It is a b---h to get off. As far as I know, it doesn't do any permanent damage but I had to do several vinegar rinses then polish with Protect-All to get it all off.
Will I go back? In a New York minute when I can afford it.

RE: Ice box freezing up

CampinHappy. You can slide the bracket up or down without removing the sensor or wire. Where was the sensor when you found it? Was it attached to the slider? If it was high in the fridge then you could get frosted up. I suspect, also, that if your fridge was below freezing and or there was a lot of ice on the fins then the slide ain't gonna move well, need to defrost the fridge first.

RE: Security Essentials

garry1p. I replaced AVG on my pc laptop with MSE a month or so ago. Now I do NOT get those annoying pop-ups about updates, etc anymore. Seems to be working fine. Must confess, however, as a die-hard, confirmed Mac-O-Phile, the pc doesn't get much use.

RE: Tying down automatic awning

GrumpyandGrandma. Automatic awnings do not have the support system to handle a tied down situation, at least those that I am familiar with, Girard, Care-Free, and Zip-Dee. Compare the brackets on pull down models with the automatic ones.

RE: 5vr Toilet wont hold water??

sanfordandwife. If you have had very hard water sitting in the bowl before the leaking, you probably have some calcium deposits on the seal, hindering it's effectiveness. If so, before lubricating the seal, clean it good with a toothbrush (not the one you are going to brush your teeth with) and a mix half and half water and vinegar to disolve the rocks. Then apply the lubricant, I use silicone grease left over from my underwater photography days.

RE: 1st time in for service nightmare

oldbat . I must agree that your experience was NOT the standard, The one thing that I would add to other respondents, I stay with my motorhome while it is serviced, This is my second home and I would no more let strangers into it to work than I would my stick house. I have been advised that "our insurance prohibits staying in the vehicle while it is in the shop". I reply that I will stay in it or take it elsewhere, I have never had to do so.

RE: Day night Shapes restringing

katfish. Short answer: YES!
Run a search here for:" day-night shades". You will find all the details including where to send for a "kit". OR, how to do it without a kit.

RE: Need help with my tracvision S2 and DirecTV receiver

cleoent. My sympathies. I am currently having problems with MotoSAT antenna, controller and DirecTV. Believe me no one in, at or around DirecTV, that I have been able to discover, knows anything about RV mounted antennae! they refer one to KVH and their service is not free even if you get someone. Best bet is to Google TracVision for a dealer near you, bite the bullet and pay them to check out your system. They will probably tell you your equipment is obsolete, not made anymore, out of warranty and there are no parts available but they will be happy to sell and install a NEW unit . Then maybe you an get them to check out your stuff. This is what I plan when I can afford it. RV dealer has not been any help either. Alternative that I have tried is to enlist help from friend who has some expertise, mine was able to pinpoint the malfunction but couldn't fix it.

RE: What am I doing wrong?

LittleJimmy (1) Use the lower temp for drying, yes there are two on the newer models. One is on the cotton cycle the other is on the perma-press cycle. (2) remove unmentionables and perma-press items after spin cycle and shake and hang in shower overnight with small catalytic heater and bathroom fan "on" while reduced rest of load dries in the machine (hope you have 50 Amp).(3) Dryer balls.

BobsYourUncle. Not aware when DLS or summer time or whatever Ben Franklin called it goes off in BC, but in US of A we are off DLS time. Suspect you need to reset your DLS.
