RE: Tri Tip The meatcutter said do this...

Different parts of the country, different names holds true . Tri-tip comes from the sirloin tip which is attatched to the round. At least that is where we commonly find them in Ne. Have also seen the cap from the top sirloin called tri-tip. Different stores when they mechandise a cut for maximum profit, sometimes come up with their own names. If off the sirloin tip, vey little fat, off the top sirloin it will have some fat. Petite steak, grill steak, 47 years in the business I have seen many cuts called many things. If you have a question about a cut just ask your butcher, if you shop in a store that still has one.:)

RE: sharpen knifes

Check with your local butcher, many times they will sharpen your knives for you. Of course it helps if you are a regular customer. I know after 36 years in the meat business we sharpened a lot of knives for customers. In the meat dept. we always used an oil stone. At home I use the electric chefs sharpener, for at home use these work very well. Solution for wife get her her own knives, lay down the law leave my knives alone. Although this method is not foolproof, it is my firm belief all a woman needs to do is touch a knife it will immediatley become dull.

Unbelievable get real, get serious, grow up, get a job. Hate to sound harsh but this is the real world not a fairy tale. Good luck in your endeavors.

RE: pop up campers

Went to a dixie rv superstore yesterday to look into downgrading from our rv to a pop up. Salesman told us some story that pop ups are going to be outlawed from the national parks because of the bear problem. This sounds like a salesmans story but this is the second big rv dealer that we went to that are not ordering any more pop ups. Has anyone else heard about this? It may not be a "story". I remember what a bear did in broad daylight to a Popup trailer in a CG near Yellowstone. Had the people been in it at the time it could have had a tragic ending. As it was, one end was completely shredded and the inside trashed. A horrific sight. I would never camp in a Popup where there are bears or cougars. If you plan to camp where these large predators are, you'll be a lot safer in a regular hard sided RV of some kind. Considering what a bear can do to a car, do you really thimk your hardsided camper will keep them out. Keep a clean camp, store food sensibly, and trust the camping gods to keep yogi at bay.:)

RE: Canadian flag in Florida?

When driving thru a campground and seeing american flags, the thought is, patriotic, proud to be an american. When spotting a canadian flag, gee those folks are from way up in canada. C'mon people some of you are making way to much out of nothing. Granted we all have opinions which are important to us. Stop and think ,could there be issues more important to tackle than someone showing pride in their country and flag.

RE: What's the Norm - Barking Dogs / Rude Campers

I have noticed here in Nebraska that it always seems the larger the MH the closer to the bathroom. Of course most of these are driven by older folks. Perhaps they do not want to walk as far. Please give me a break as I am in the senior bracket but still able to walk farther than some. To much commotion by the bathrooms anyway.:B

RE: is it ok to park my RV at tent camp site?

OMG, now I have a dilemma I had not even considered. We have a pup do we park in tent areas, or rv spots? Have I been doing it wrong all summer. Is this why I get strange looks from my neighbors.:W Now I feel as though we do not belong anywhere. So confused, am going out to winterize pup and reconsider any future camping.:B

RE: Family cabin style tent recommendations please

The wife and I tent camp as well as camping with our pup. The tent we use is 16x14 imo just right for two people. By time we set everything up it is full, yes we rough it in comfort. WE have had the tent for sometime went thru some good storms have never had a problem. If you are going to just use tent for sleeping packed like sardines then a small tent would pobably suffice. Probably have not been much help but I guess that is why they make so many different sized tents. Myself two adults three children one dog, one large tent and one small tent.
