RE: RV Vacation 61% Cheaper

It may be cheaper in the long run, if you are doing a lot of traveling.
I wonder if the cost of maintaining an RV/TT was included in that?
I think there can be way too many factors to accurately analyze someting like this.
Cost of RV/TT
How much its used
Fuel variances
the list can go on and on
For me and my DW we prefer to sleep in a bed that we KNOW is clean. You can't put a price on that.

RE: Wasps

Find a utility worker and ask for a can of wasp spray. I work for "Ma Bell" and our spray is rated for (can't remember how many volts) spraying in/around electrical equipment. Have to be careful. Read the instructions to see if what you buy from general store is rated for this. It will say. Also needs to be safe for plastics.
I can't stand wasps.
Do not spray if it does not have a voltage rating. The can could blow up in your hand, and or you could be electrocuted, Or both.
Plastic safe: some of the wasp spray we used to use was not plastic safe, we found out the hard way a few years later, it started deteriorating the insulation on our wires. Just aggrivating on a phone line, you don't want that on your house wiring.

RE: Anyone ever had a problem with this toy?

By the way, I agree with the OWNER. We put the toy away. Our child was upset for a few minutes, but he got over it.
It is their property. I appreciated their concern.

RE: Anyone ever had a problem with this toy?

I had the same issue with an electric John Deer Gator. CG owners said there were a couple reasons for not allowing them.
#1 Insurance company said NO
#2 Because they did not want a child to get run over by a big truck/RV.
Their concern was mainly for the childs welfare. I can see their point. Besides, my 3 year old is pretty wild on that thing. Especially now that my WIFE's friend showed him how to put it in the highest gear!!!!!

RE: Best way to sell my 5th Wheel?

Not to cause any concern, but my friend just sold their TT, it took almost a year, and they sold it for about $3k less than what they owed on it.
It finally sold on consignment at a local dealer.

RE: Refrigerator Mishap

We did that with red/green peppers last year. It took several weeks. We used bleach, coffee, bowls of vinegar, and activated charcoal hangers.
It just took time. I feel/smell your pain!

RE: ratchet straps for awning **updated**

I have done both. At the beach this summer, for some reason I decided to just put the hook where the roller attaches to the arm. It came off in a wind gust and then I nearly lost the awning.
I went back to wrapping the strap around the tube, and use springs. I also use the screw in "dog stakes".
I bought my straps in Walmart, 10' best I can recall. Came in a set of 4.

It is so nice to hear that there are still people who want to do a good job, and someone willing to give them praise.

RE: Lyme Disease....getting bad!

I had it a couple years ago. I did not have the "bulls eye" so I didn't go to the doc right away.
It is the sickest I have been in a long long time. I was sick/sore for several weeks.
What good are ticks anyway?

I stayed a few nights in one of those when my ship was in the yards in SD. I don't care to do it again.

RE: awnings

something had to happen to cause that, or it was already damaged before he got there... they are pretty tough...
Yes, I and he would agree with you. He said it didn't "seem right" when he rolled it out.
I think it needed a saddle more than anything. Could be wrong, but just seemed too long not to have one, and could have damaged it from traveling and bouncing. ????

RE: RV Insurance / Awnings

I did ask that question to the agent.
Standard Equipment: anything that came on the TT from the manufacturer.
I told her I wanted the rider anyway ($8/yr, $1500 coverage) She said I would have to provide receipts for the awning installation.
She told me I did not need it.
I just would hate to find out after the fact that the agent was wrong, and then nothing I could do about it.

RV Insurance / Awnings

A fellow camper told me he had purchased a "rider" for his awning.
We have the same insurance company.
Liberty Mutual.
I called them to inquire. I was told by the agent that I did not need a "ryder" if the awning was standard equipment, that it was covered.
I am pretty sure the fellow camper's awning was standard.
Any thoughts on this?

RE: awnings

Use it.
Guy at MB this summer lost his awning and it wasn't even raining or windy. I think it was 18 or 20 foot, the thing just snapped right in the middle.

RE: Towing Speed

"I'm not defending driving 85. But I have more trouble with slow RVrs causing "bunching" and unecessary lane changing. I think the posted speed limits fit in here somewhere too. "
Bunching isn't caused by slow drivers. It is caused by drivers not paying attention to their surroundings.
http://www.smith-system.com/index.shtml
The company I work for trained us on this driving system. It works.
rolnroln: Yes this is a free country. However, driving on our "public roads" is not a "right", it is a "privledge".
I will never be convinced that driving/towing at excessive speeds is safe, and should be acceptable just because "you want to".
Being able to disagree "peacefully" is what makes this a free country, to me.
