RE: Lessons we've learned over the years

I was in the lead once trying to find a good spot for myself. Friends of our were following. We went down this one road into a grove of trees. No luck there. We came out at the opposite end but our friends didn't. He had a fiver and it got stuck in the trees in a tight turn. He wasn't a happy camper!!! He almost tore off his antenna also.

Will clear coat help?

I am thinking about taking my tt to a dealer and having it cleaned on the outside. It is aluminum siding. Can they get all the streaks off and will clear coating keep them off?

Over the hill?

Hi all, wanting some opinions. My Nomad is an 04. I know some cg restrict the age of campers they allow. Anyone ever had them tell you "no" when you call for reservations, or turn you down when you show up off the road with out reservations?
Just wanting to see how often it happens since mine is getting up there in years so to speak....Thanks...John

Can't find the leak

I bought my camper used. I think it had always been stored. I noticed a small dimple in the ceiling near the antina a couple of years ago and replaced the boot around the coax. Trouble is, the leak seems to be worse. I think there is some dry rot also. I have covered the area with plastic and weighted it down for the winter.
Any ideas on what to do next? Should I see if a dealer can fix it or go for a trade? One thing for sure I can't use it much the way it is. Can't imagine getting up there all the time while going camping and covering it with plastic and weights. By the way, it is an 04.
Thanks for your input...John

RE: Another way to stop the rocking

A slip joint is a sleeve that you slide pvc pipe into to connect it to another pipe of the same size.

Another way to stop the rocking

I made up my own system using 4" PVC slip joints. You have to stack them up under each sizzor jack. In my case I have six sizzor jacks. Anyway, I have learned that the less I spread the sizzor jacks the less movment I have. This method works on any type of surface. I have used them for about four years now.
It was a pretty simple application once I figure out how to keep the joints in alignment.
I made a set for a friend of mine who has a toy hauler and they work with it also. He carries a three wheeler trike and I believe it weighs around 1500lbs. He uses them under the rear of the trailer only and the trike going up and down the ramp has not had any negative effect on them.
One other thing I like is not carrying all the wood blocks.
This isn't for everyone, anything seldom is.
PM me if you want more info.

Trade in

My TT has developed a leak and the more I look into it the worse it seems to be. At first I thought it was around the antina. I can see where it may have pooled and then moved accross the ceiling. I tried this spring to add more sealant around the antina. I got the sealent from an RV dealer, so I know I have the correct material.
The TT is an 04 Nomad. What kind of trade in if any can I expect once the dealer knows about the leak?
About a month ago I had a new fridge installed. At that time I thought I had the leak taken care off.
Thanks for your help...John

RE: Trailers with less wind resistance?

A fellow told me that the drag at the back of the camper is where you loose out on milage. Since I have seen several semi trailers now with a set up mounted to the back of the trailer,to reduce drag, I am inclined to belive it.

RE: An Australian Dirt Road Caravan

Man O Man! That is one great looking rig! What a frame! I wonder what you would have to pay for an outfit like that if it were made in America? I bet you that one will be around for a long, long, time!!!!!!!!!!!!
