RE: Looking for Advice

- We stayed at Elmendorf AFB in Rapid City.
Elmendorf AFB is in Alaska ....... Ellsworth AFB is in Rapid City, SD. Both are very interesting places.

RE: Letters from Son in Basic Training! VIDEO 10-6-09 (pg 16)

Julie Remind your son to take pictures whenever he can throughout his career. Get him a camera so he can get shots of his buddies(with names and hometowns) and the places he goes. Years from now those letters you're saving and the pictures will be priceless to him. I wish cameras had been more advanced and easy to carry when I was in the AF.
Pass along my THANKS to Aaron for his service to our country.

RE: 2008 Springdale 291RKS?

I'm sure you'll get many comments on this issue. Our 2001 F150 5.4/373 (loaded) pulls our loaded 7000# trailer just fine in the eastern part of the country where it's somewhat flat. The mountains are a bit of a struggle, but it's doable. Where we run into the "sweat zone" is when we get to the higher altitudes going through the Rockies and basically in the western states.
Even though your truck has a few more horses than ours, your 355 rear pretty much evens out our abilities to pull.
Be sure you're computing ALL the weight you carry. Other than the boats & bikes, how many people? How much is inside the truck? Also what's in the bed? You could be overloaded. Check your trucks GVWA
I don't think you'll be happy with this setup unless you stay light and stay eastern on flat land.
Good luck

RE: Need a quieet, relaxing place for a vacation? We found it!

For those of you who want to tour Ohio Amish Country, one of the finest campgrounds in the USA is in Mt. Eaton. Evergreen RV Resort is a 10/10/10 rated park (Good Sam.) We live about 15 miles from there and have stayed just to enjoy the great facilities.

RE: Did that really happen?

Thankfully my navigator can read a map. Our Garmin NUVI 350 is virtully worthless because it's unreliable and has almost gotten us in trouble everytime we're on the road...... Paper maps are still the best.

Stubborn air conditioner

We can only use our TT 3 summer months of the year and then it is stored in an unelectrified barn about 30 miles away from home.
The problem we have happens when we bring it home to clean it and get ready to go. The AC fan will not turn and all we get is the hum of the motor trying to start. When this first happened a year ago, our dealer told us that the fan shaft rusts in place and that all that's needed is for me to rotate the fan to get it broke loose. This done, it runs like new. The dealer said there is no way to lubricate the shaft since it's a sealed unit..........
The questions I have are:
1. Are we the only ones this happens to?
2. Are there any solutions other than poking a stick in the vent holes to rotate the fan?
We of course could remove the AC cover but at this old age that ain't gonna happen.
Any solutions .. short of replacing the motor????? Thanks in advance for your help.

RE: R-Vision Towables

The thing about R-Vision going out of business is that the RV industry has just lost a gigantic rock which was dragging the industry's credibility to the pits of HE_ _.
After owning two of those cracker boxes built by a non-responsive, non-customer oriented outfit, I'm glad to see them go.
There are no doubt more RV companies that also qualify for the downward spiral into the flaming pits. I know of a guy who feels that way about Fleetwood.
Sorry MODERATOR this will either get poofed or become a long listing of candidates.

RE: FEMA Travel Trailers Back UP

CXR 133..... If you do buy one of these units, I suggest you have it fumigated. Who knows how many bugs were left behind or crawled in while it sat in that hot, moist climate...... Good luck

I think I may be next to the longest in time on this forum ;)
On my part, not a lot of posts but a whole lot of reading and learning.
Thanks for all the great input by our members and thanks for the efforts of the administrators and moderators.

RE: St Mary's or Mineral Wells WV campgrounds

If you want to drive about 54 miles south on I-77 (Exit 116) there is a great campground at Romance,... Rippling Waters. Nice people and a clean and well kept campground. We stay there whenever we do our traveling to the south.
The road from I-77 to the CG is a little twisty and turny so take it slow and easy.
