RE: Towing Honda Fit

A simple switch for the fuse is all we use.
That, the SMI brake switch "on", and the transmission "run through" and we're ready to go.

RE: Ford Fiesta

Thank you for your replies. We decided on a Honda Fit 2009 automatic.
A very good choice ;)

RE: Jimmie Johnson won the 500

Well Chad does what he does because that’s what he’s supposed to do. I’m not saying cheating is the name of the game but ask any old time crew chief or racer and they will tell you if the crew chief isn’t trying to find loop holes or bend the rules to his team’s advantage he’s not doing his job.
It’s part of racing and always will be and if you think it’s not I have some land for sale. :B

RE: Groceries

We found that there is actually grocery stores on the road.
We use to buy heavy and load up the rig.
We now stop every few days and restock. If we know we are going to be away from larger cities we do buy a little extra.
We carry a Rand McNally/Walmart atlas that allows us to know that a community is large enough to have good sized stores.
We try to avoid quickie style stores.
Agree with all of this statement ...... We load the freezer with pre made meals in ZipLock bags and replenish the lightly packed refrigerator and pantry as we travel.
Grocery stores or Wal Marts are almost everywhere.
We have a million "shopper cards" to prove it :)

RE: Fire tonight in the back of our Dometic Fridge.

This fire issue has be on my mind and am wondering how difficult it is to install a fire suppression system in the refrigerator area.

RE: KOA changes

We did use a KOA traveling through Kansas. Used it for many years. Last time they charged $47 and we decided this was too much for a one night stop.
This happened to us recently at the Point South SC KOA. This was always an overnight stop for us on the way to Florida. $45+ is just too much to handle anymore so we'll be looking elsewhere next time.
Actually KOAs have been off our list for quite awhile unless we don't have a choice.

RE: 2013 Chevy Spark

Take a look at the Honda Fit. Not heavy can be towed all wheels down auto or manual. Good storage space excellent service record. We love ours.

We'd leave immediately for Oregon, specifically the Four Seasons Resort in Gold Beach.

RE: Newcomer

Small and light is the first consideration.
Pick one that can be towed on 4 wheels without having to add a transmission pump or other mods.
Let others chime in.
We've towed a Honda CRV and now a Honda Fit. Both are towable "four down". For a small car the Fit has lots of interior room and best of all it's light.
For anything you choose, follow the instructions in the vehicle owners manual.
Some people like tow dollys for those vehicles that can't be towed "down", Not all can be towed either way so choose wisely and ask lots of questions.
This forum will help you. Good luck ...... have fun ;)

RE: Shoes

I have a lot of foot problems and wear orthotics. Have worn New Balance for years. A couple years ago, on the advice of a friend, I sent for a pair of Mephisto's. These costly ($300) clunkers are (were) the most uncomfortable, heavy things I've ever seen.
I learned a lesson ...... Don't buy shoes through the mail and don't buy without trying them on.
Back to New Balance for as long as they're in business>

RE: I am wondering if this is the right forum: Ambien

My problem isn't falling asleep as much as getting past 3:30am. I'm getting about 4 1/2 hours a night which isn't enough.
I've tried Ambien with poor results (I still come awake about 3:30) and don't like the drugged effect that hangs on 'til noon.
I've thought about Melatonin and need to be sure it doesn't react with some of the other scripts I take.

RE: Bathhouse

If I could find my old wooden shower clogs I'd try the bathhouse. It would be just like the old AF days except maybe there'd be hot water.
