RE: Air Conditioner

Remember, tt are not insulated as well as new homes. I have yet to see anyone complain about having too big A/C. Same s tooooo much truck. No such thing. You can always turn it down or off. Nut, when you're sitting in 115 temps, ie Las Vegas and Badlands, you will be happy to have too much A/C.

RE: Big, Big problem with my fresh water tank!!!!

I would replace the inlet and tank, especially since you do not know what the substance is.

RE: Towing Speed - Am I Going Too Slow?!

When they give you the "finger wave", just wave back and keep driving at safe speed. Take turnouts when possible to let backed up traffic go by.

RE: New or used?

If buying the used tt, check DOT date tires were built. If they are original to tt, you'll want to get new Maxxis ST tires, balanced, and stainless steel valve stems. If you can upgrade one level, even better, if rims are rated to carry higher psi/load rating. A very thorough inspection of the used tt for possible leaks, checking roof very carefully. Good luck with your decision.

RE: FAO Tornado-Fearing, Black-and-white thinkers.

The weather reporter said to "run" or get under ground. But - what about the possibility of being stuck in traffic? So - look for a business (bldg) that should have a walk-in fridge, basement, or - a culvert along side the road. (Muddy & dirty is no big deal). Your dice to roll for whatever the situation dictates to you. Be "creative" and let common sense prevail..:W ~ IIRC, 3 or 4 people dies in a culvert, drowned. You have few good choices and a lot of possibly bad choices to pick from. Tough decision for all involved.

RE: the dreaded tire topic...

IMHO, Maxxis. Reason - I do not like to change tires on a trailer on shoulder of highway, nor the damage "cheap" "china-will-pops" cause. But, hey, that's just me.

RE: Over Weight?

You have already committed yourself to exceeding the GCWR. Now you're looking for us to calm your anxiety. All of our collected opinions are not going to change that. I understand that xanax might help. Please pass the popcorn and cerveza.

RE: No refund from Terry Bison Ranch

http://www.terrybisonranch.com/accommodations.asp#rv According to their website, there are no refunds during Cheyenne Days in July. That would probably cover your situation.

RE: Do I really need a sliding hitch?

The issue will most likely come up while trying to back into a tight site. If you are EXTREMELY CAREFUL you can avoid crunching the cab. Question is - "Do you feel lucky?" I installed a slider because the difference in price vs repair to cab. Also, at the end of a long day towing, you (at my) brain doesn't not always function up to normal. I tend to make "little" mistakes - crunching the cab I would not consider to be a "little" mistake. Consider this - I had an extended cab, not a crew cab, and trying to "eyeball" the distance between trailer and cab can be difficult. Your truck - your decision - good luck.

RE: Best route from Morrow Bay to Carmel

In a 40 footer CA 1 will be a real challenge. Lookylooing is the biggest danger along there. Hwy 101 for you :) Agree. If you have a toad, see that section of 1 on a day trip.

RE: New tires for my TT?

NOPE - Maxxis best way to go. You do want to get a "fresh" set, less than 6-mos from build date, or thereabouts. Also, replaced valve stems with stainless steel stems and have each tire balance. If you had the $$$ and room for them, upgrading one grade level would also give you additional safety margin. Upgrading tires rating would necessitate higher psi the old rims are probably rated for. Keeping tires covered is much better than not. Plywood covering the vinyl covers will make them last longer and keep additional heat off tires. Also want to keep psi up to max. A pr of between-the-tires locking chocks will prevent the trailer from sliding on down the hill.

RE: Help what TV do i need to properly haul this.

The real question is what TV do I need to haul the RV I am going to get next?????? Go big and you will always be covered and won't loose so much money later. BINGO! WE HAVE A WINNER!

RE: Buying new vs. Pre-owned (3 years old)

New - get exact model, options (larger a/c, upgraded tires/rims, etc), colors, also you get a warranty. Used - save $$$$ (maybe), difficult to get exact mode, options, colors and no warranty. Maybe get someone else's "lemon". Tires, battery, appliances, awning could have considerable wear and aging (esp tires & battery). We've gone both ways. Buys used first then when you know exactly what you want for longer terms, IMO go new. On used rv's we purchased, had to make repairs almost each trip out, including awning, roof, tires, plumbing lines, and carpet was well worn.

RE: Need help with Route

DesertHawk -- "I-90 W to Livingston, then US 89 S to Gardner & North Entrance is an easy climb up to Mammoth Area. We used this route in 2009. Less climb than from Cody up & down into Yellowstone Lake area. But was come from North Dakota. Via I-94 W to I-90 W by Billings." This the route we used coming from Wisc. It was a piece of cake. Nice easy drive. We had no issues towing our 31-ft 5vr. We camped at a little park, just outside Gardiner called Yellowstone RV Park, right on the Yellowstone River running along the back side of the park.

RE: Power King Towmax tires for hybrid travel trailer

IMHO they belong in the 'china bomb" category. Recommend Maxxis, made in Thailand. Much better rep, even if they cost more. Do not forget to get stainless steel valve stems installed at the same time. Check tire build date to avoid getting 1-2 yr old tires.

RE: Guess Washington state needs to upgrade it's legal limits

When it comes to all bridges on the "Intestate" highways, all 50 states are "Nanny" states. Feds pay approx 90% of the cost, state and county picks up the balance. How else could a state like WY, AZ, NM pay for interstate highway improvement/repairs?
