Yamaha EF2400is

Does anyone have any experience with this generator? Mine has about 8 hours on it and when started will only run for a few seconds then smoothly shut off. It will not restart unless it sits for several minutes then the same thing repeats.
The spark plug is clean and dry when I pull it out to check. Spark is present. Though I don't know if it is sparking immediately after a shutdown.
I am suspecting the low oil shutoff switch though the oil level is fine and the low oil light does not come on when it dies and stops which gives me doubts. This switch does not look very accessible to try and bypass for troubleshooting.
I unintentionaly stored it a few months with unstabilized gas in the carb. I could smell the stale stuff when I was choking it up on the 1st start attempts. I drained the float bowl twice to make sure fresh was getting to it. These things auto throttle which I am unfamiliar with and don't know if that could be a factor.
Help.

RE: Exterior trailer lights on at campground

Its the same kind of mentality as the people who drive around with their fog lights on when weather is good or parking lights when the weather is lousy and their headlights need to be on.
Perhaps trying to look flashy?

RE: Goodyear Tire states Tire Age does not matter

I love to buy American if it isn't crap. Unfortunately experience has taught me that Michelin makes the longest lasting,, best riding tire that I have found.
There are still good people in France believe it or not and a lot of Americans who profit from their sales.
Keep those tires in the shade and they'll last longer.

RE: Goodyear Tire states Tire Age does not matter

Tires do not age on their own and therefore have no expiration or shelf life limitation. Tires will last INDEFINITELY when stored in a cool place away from electrical appliances (ozone), away from direct sunlight (UV), and exposure to hydrocarbons (oil, gas etc...).
I would not buy a tire from a manufacturer that posts an arbitrary expiration date. I want the old-fashioned kind that will last forever if properly cared for not a self deteriorating kind.
All it takes is a little common sense and good old eyeballs to determine when a tire has corroded from exposure and is no longer safe. Look for deep checking (small splits in the sidewall) that reaches the cords and bulges.
The problem is in BUYING a tire and having no way of knowing how it was stored, so the fresher the better if it has been exposed to the elements.
Don't be fooled by all the hype and ABC Specials directed at a 'target' audience. Stupid people. We can fix ignorant.

RE: Black Streaks?

Ii should say the black is a corrosion byproduct.

RE: Black Streaks?

Its actually corrosion of the paint caused by sulphuric acid in the rain water from sulfur dioxide emissions from the plants.

RE: Black Streaks?

The black streaks you see on your RV and painted rain gutters on the house are fallout from coal fired power plants. These plants are common throughout the USA and severity depends on how close and wind direction.
Please keep in mind before condemning coal plants that they produce 80% of our energy followed by hydro, nuclear, wind, solar.

RE: water temp fluctuations

Pulled the panel inside covering the water heater and there were two valves. I turned one to open and the problem was corrected.
I think the water heater had been winterized and the valve was never repositioned in the spring.

RE: upgrading the floor

They just laid a bunch of that peel and stick in a large office where I work, high traffic and it looks great, lays flat, tight fitting edges but camsaws mention of water getting through the edges of the peel and stick got me worried.
Water getting into the OSB wouldn't be nice.
I used to repair galley sub floor structure corrosion damage on airliners and we went to incredible lengths to keep moisture away from the aluminum sub floor with thick vinyl over Mylar sheets over grease over fluid resistant epoxy paint and still the water would get through and cause plenty of corrosion in a years time.
I may have to rethink this.

RE: Hot water heater issues

Perhaps the vent/flue has a mud dauber nest clogging it up. I have read something similar in the forums before. Not enough air is being mixed with the gas creating a rich condition.
I have no experience on how to clean it out. You may be able to look it over with a mirror and flashlight and spot a clog.

RE: A/C Distribution

Hello everyone the problem is fixed! The central ceiling register (Was as described by Gary Faulkner1953) was installed 180 degrees backwards and when it was removed during the investigation the center divider (between the return and outlet) was installed offset in the wrong direction.
This appears to have been done at the factory.
I moved the center divider over to the correct screw holes, turned the large register over this area 180 degrees and VOILA! Strong air out of ALL outlets now.
Previously I had air being blown OUT through the filter and only a trickle out of half the ceiling registers. Now return air goes IN to the filter as it should.
If you have a similar problem, take the central register down (4 screws)and study the openings from the fan and to the ducts carefully and you will probably see the problem.

RE: upgrading the floor

I didn't mean real tile. They have some pliable fake stone stick down tiles that look very nice or the wood type. Your response was very encouraging, so I'm gonna get started soon.
The beauty is the floor area is so small the replacement will be cheap (and probably fast) so I can opt for the high dollar stuff!

upgrading the floor

The linoleum and carpet on my 2004 TT is starting to look pretty tired and I wonder how difficult it would be to rip it all out and replace with wood tile or something similar from Home Depot or Lowes.
Is there a flat plywood floor underneath that would be easy to tile? What about where the linoleum and carpet meet, the trim divider, whats underneath there?

RE: Stove/microwave vent flapper

are you saying the mounting hole is also semi-oval and the rectangle one wouldn't work...
I don’t recall ever seeing one like that…
I haven't pulled the old one off yet and I have considered that a rectangular one may fit, just wondering why there is only one style available on the internet.
May just put a homemade sheetmetal flapper on there.

don't know where you are in GA, but you can visit in person or call and order this part easily. www.apalacheerv.com- get the phone number and ask for Dave or Kurt and they will help you.
Don't see it here, but thanks!

RE: Stove/microwave vent flapper

I'll keep looking. Never seen anything like it on the internet. Always see the rectangular replacement ones though. Guess I'll ask the people at Camping World next time I'm in the neighborhood but I don't feel optimistic.
It's oddball I guess.

Stove/microwave vent flapper

The plastic stove vent flapper on my 2004 Fleetwood Prowler 24BH TT has been torn off.
I have searched the internet high and low for a similar vent with no luck. All that I can find are roof vents or replacement stove vents that are rectangular. Mine has a semi oval top shade rather than squared off rectangular.
Does anyone know where to get one of these?
