Yes Sir,

RE: Help with flipping axles

I hit with my Dodge and don't want that scenario again. It was a nasty drop off at a campground. This is my golden years rig so going across the country will see major changing road conditions. I've got to see a sweet spot somehow.

RE: Help with flipping axles

Old 2008 Unloaded 55" to top of truck gate/bed rails. New 2017 Unloaded 59" to top of truck tail gate/bed rails. Old 2008 Unloaded 34 1/2" to top of truck bed. New 2017 Unloaded 37" to top of truck bed. Jim @ VIP seems to think a axle flip will give me 4"/5". I think that’s all I need. I'm going to hook it up this weekend and see what I get with the pin weight on it. That will be the deciding factor of what I need in the end.

RE: Help with flipping axles

Yikes.... Dave, I'm up in the clouds already. Good point. I know I did post my height here on RV.net way back when. I'm going to guess 12-6" ish. Hey my memory sucks these days. 5-6 years ago I could climb up there and check. This time I'll bring one of my boys. OK new question, Whats a Max height of your trailer ?

RE: 5th Wheel Hitch Change from 2008 to 2017

The new truck is Fifth Wheel Prep'. Is that what you call "puck system"? And the new hitch I got is made for Ford Fifth Wheel Prep Only. On the 2008 Truck and hitch, I installed brackets to the frame and drilled holes in the bed. Very same kind of idea to these new ones. I dropped in a pin, turned it a 1/4 turn and then installed the rails for the hitch to hook to. Thats why the old hitch won't work, they don't make a frame bracket kit for these newer trucks. Ford,Chevy, or Dodge. I'm sure they could have came up with something but it's easyier to just make everybody buy a complete new hitch.

Help with flipping axles

I know a lot of you toy hauler guys have raised there trailers by flipping axles or building up the spring blocks. Can somebody please recommend and good place to take my trailer to have this done in the Riverside Ca. area? I just got a 2017 Ford F350 and it's a lot taller than my 2008. I'm not sure I can even back under it with the way the trailer is now at level. Its crazy how high these new trucks are. Thanks for any help. Joe A

RE: 5th Wheel Hitch Change from 2008 to 2017

Thanks Newman. I got it on ebay, and I'm sure it will sell for few bucks. It's the fact they worked it the way they did. They could have build a frame rail kit that's fits a 2017. But what moneys in that ? I want to see what other hitch makers did the same thing.

5th Wheel Hitch Change from 2008 to 2017

I just bought a 2017 F-350 to upgrade from my 2008. Now my 5th wheel hitch won't work unless I buy a complete new style. I'm not real happy to find this out and I'm sure others fill the same. I've used Pullrite for years, Sliders, and up to 20.5K hitch's. But they can't be adapted to these new style trucks. You have to buy a truck with (5th Wheel Prep, or buy the frame adapters and drill the box like my last one. I almost went to a Reese if they weren't built in (another country). Now I have a spare outdated or Obsolete hitch.

RE: Triple axle tire question

I must have missed if it was a pull or 5th wheel? Type of trailer, brand, weight, pictures, did I miss that too? I'm new here.:-) I just replaced my first set of 6 on a 40', 14,500lb, 5th wheel with great tread wear left over. They were dang near 9 years old with 40-50k miles on them. I'd be totally surprised if you can’t see something wrong looking from the rear - loaded-unloaded. A hub could be bend, bearing out, bent axles. Any good frame alignment shop can help if you can’t see it from the rear/front

Who's Towing a 2016 Ford Escape

Just wondering if there's any problems towing one of these? 4WD and or 2WD. I don't want to use a dolly or go through a bunch to tow it. Just want to hook up and go. Thanks for any help.
