RE: RV Insurance

Full timers insurance is definitely different than regular RV insurance. It should actually cover your RV more like homeowners insurance and include full timer liability, full replacement on the RV and contents, coverage for things like awning and satellite dishes...just to name a few.
Regular insurance companies want nothing to do with these types of coverges. You need an RV specialty insurer...we just recently switched from fulltimer coverage with GMAC to Blue Sky. Blue Sky more than cut our premium in half and actually gave us better coverage.
Shop around and be sure who you choose truly understands fulltime RV coverage.

RE: Age old question.

we too got rid of our C4500 in 2011 when Chevy upgraded the tow ratings...today any of the Big Three 1-ton DRW's will tow pretty much any of the big fivers.
Very, very pleased with our decision...our Chevy handles 17,600 pounds with a 4,200 pound pin weight with ease, and stays within every single rating of the truck which is fully loaded for fulltiming.

RE: 1999 F350 & 2011 BIGHORN 32Ti - CUSTOM PAINT JOB!!!

Wow! Very nice. Was the Bighorn repainted, or is that the original?
No repaint...that was an original full body paint on the Bighorn Titanium.

RE: Any 5th wheel hitch operate exactly like a semi 5th wheel?

my pullrite operates like you describe of a 5th wheel. I have to hit the hitch to the kingpin hard to lock the jaws. I pull a handle to drive out from under it. Its a great hitch..I dont think I would own any other.
X2...

RE: Blue Sky RV Insurance

I just switched from GMAC to Blue Sky...GMAC more than doubled the annual premium when we bought our new Landmark. Yes it cost alot more, but an $876 increase...NOT!
Blue Sky just gave us considerably better coverage and lowered the premium from $1576 to $761 annually....we are happy campers!

RE: Finding Past Owner

Ask the dealer to contact the previous owner, and ask if they would be willing to talk to you...if they are the dealer can give them your number.
We had that happen on a previous coach...we gladly talked the new owners and were able to help them with a few things they needed to understand.

RE: 6 Point Leveling System

Not sure, contact Lippert in Elkhart...they are the manufacturer and can tell you who installs their product aftermarket.

RE: Another question on residency

"You do not need to actually reside in SD. We spend a few days there every 5th year,to renew drivers licenses.( At this time,it has to be done in person every 5 years )"
Actually, SD just passed new legislation, making it even easier...you know can renew by mail every other time...you only have to show up in person every 10 years to renew your license...

RE: Auto level-slide open best sequence?

We always auto level before putting out the slides...if it's moving et2 is right, either you have a leak or a foot is sinking into the ground...

RE: Please post opinions on a Holiday Rambler Alumascape

Take a close look at how the axles are attached to the frame....ours ripped completely away from the frame while backing into a site...it was only ten months old.
They had welded the axle hangers to a quarter inch piece of steel, and then tack welded that piece of steel to the bottom of the I beam. Peeled off like a banana skin...had everything repaired properly and traded it ASAP.

RE: RV financing.

We have been fulltime for eight years. Just financed a new coach this past December...no issues. The key....do NOT volunteer any information. There is no reason to volunteer that you are fulltiming. If you have good credit it should not be an issue. We were financed thru Bank of the west.

RE: Please post opinions on a Holiday Rambler Alumascape

OP asked for experienced opinions...that's what we gave him. Glad you are happy with yours, but as you can see, several of us have had issue with Monaco's HR...not bashing, just relaying our experience, just as you have.

RE: Please post opinions on a Holiday Rambler Alumascape

Monoco, the manufacturer of your Holiday Rambler was bought and reorganized about 6 years ago. Their products really suffered in quality IMHO. :E Would think twice before buying anymore of their products. I got burned on a McKenzie 5th wheel. :M Turned into the "Big Ole Rolling Turd II." :S Any pre new Monoco is much better built than the newer Monoco RV's.
Agree 100 percent...bought our HR on the original company name...BIG mistake!! We also believe Monaco ruined a great product!

RE: Pull rite 5th wheel hitch concerns???

Make sure your hitch pin plate "rides" up the saddle of the hitch...makes high hitching impossible. ..

RE: Camper fire

We've been rving for many years and with the fridge ON at all times.
Same here...but we take the added precaution of having a Halon fire suppression system in the rear refrigerator compartment.

RE: Pull rite 5th wheel hitch concerns???

We had a 16k and now a 20.5k Pullrite...never a problem with either. One thing you will notice is how it positively latches when you back into it. We have always used a padlock...it makes sure it can't accidentally unlatch or be purposely unlatched. Wouldn't use anything else.
