RE: Twin Grove Campground, Pine Grove, Pa

I could not believe it was a KOA to begin with because it is so nice and very affordable!! Great place and I'm sure will continue to be that way.

RE: Campgrounds near Myrtle Beach but away from crowds!!

Never stayed there but there is a KOA that is "walking distance" from the beach. I wouldn't want to walk it because you must cross two busy roads - hwy 17 and Ocean Blvd. I have no idea if they have cabins but since it is a KOA, I would assume so.
Cypress RV Resort is new, no nothing about it but on this board someone stated they have shuttle service to the beach. Have no idea if have cabins.

Does Willow Tree have cabins? Sounds as though he is looking for campground with cabins.

RE: Nice campgrounds PA to ME

We travel from NC to ME on this route. You will love Twin Grove. We found this a few years ago and it is absolutely wonderful. Long pull through sites, no unhooking, gravel with grass, plenty of room between sites, very clean, great staff and great restaurant on premise if need it.
One year we found out that we had no hot water after arriving. The staff was excellant in helping us. The rv repair guy they recommended was great and didn't charge us an arm and a leg, plus did it in a timely manner.

RE: Is your dog on long term prednisone?

DOTLDaddy,
Kissie, our 12lb Maltese has been on pred for 6 yrs so I have alot experience with this. She has an autoimmune disease (GME) and also must have chemo shots every 3 weeks.
When 1st diagnosed, she was taking 5mg 2x daily. She was very aggressiive, drank alot of water, urinated alot, and put on alot of weight.
I got her down to 2.5mg every other day when she had a relaspe in Dec 2010, so had to start all over again with the 5mg 2x daily.
She is again at 2.5mg every other day and doing well. My vet would like to have her on 2.5mg every 3 days but I just can't do it and she understands. The bad news is due to long term pred she is now on insulin 2x daily also.
At the lower pred she is not aggressive and does not urinate as much.
She will be on pred the rest of her life and if it keeps her alive, so be it.
Wishing you the best. Jan

RE: Ocean Lakes - March 22-24

Thing is it is alot colder this March than last. Usually they take it out so the pipes don't freeze. We lived there for a # of years and it was always removed during the winter. But maybe this year they are going to do something else.

RE: Ocean Lakes - March 22-24

Ocean Lakes always takes the trailer at the beach that serves ice cream away during the winter. We made a last minute reservation for this weekend and are on HH19. Brought 2yr old grandson. 1st time at beach and he didn't care that it is cold here. Loved everything. Not my type of weather but well worth being here because of him.

RE: Riding out Sandy in 10ft camper!!!

d3500ram,
I do not know how to post a link. It was a very long article in our paper titled "Stranded by Sandy - Ferries halted at Ocracoke as storm threatens N.C. coast." The very last paragraph mentioned this guy, Warren Ellis, 44, of Amissville, Va.
The article stated:
"We might not get get off here until Tuesday or Wednesday, which doesn't hurt my feelings that much because the fishing's going to be really good after this storm," said Warren Ellis 44, of Amissville, Va. "It's always good after a storm."
Ellis was stranded because conditions prevented the ferry from carrying him inland. While he decided to stay in his 10-foot camper his 73-year-old father took his larger camper off Portsmith Island and retreated to the Coast Guard station at Cape Hatteras."
Since his Dad got off the island, not sure why this article would even state "Ellis was stranded because conditions prevented the ferry from carrying him inland." If his Dad was able to leave, he was also but elected to stay.
Hope this helps, d3500ram.

Riding out Sandy in 10ft camper!!!

Article in our paper today concerning a guy who has elected to ride out the storm in the Outer Banks, on one of the barrier islands that the ferry has stopped all services, in his 10ft camper. Reason - good fishing!!! At least his 73 yr old father decided to take his larger camper off Portsmith Island and retreat to the Coast Guard Station at Cape Hatteras.

RE: Electronical leash

Yea, I never have heard of it either. It's obvious the dog is not on it all the time when outside because he is all over the sites around were he is suppose to be. But even when the owner is with the dog, if he is on this "leash" he is definitley more than the usual 6ft away. This evening she was a good 30 ft away from our site and the dog was on our site. She came over to us and said even though he didn't have a leash on, he had an electronic leash. I can say, I'm not impressed with them. Or maybe I should be saying not impress with the owner of the dog!!

RE: ? for Rally attendees

This was a very small Holiday Rambler rally in Maine. Everyone was in there 60's and 70's and no one seem to be disabled. They just were cutting through sites to get to other rally sites.
I have seen this happen in other campgrounds with smaller rallies. It has never effected us due to our site has always been near the rally members but not one they would need to cut through.
Just a question since I have seen this happen many times.
