RE: Forest River Motorhomes RV One Superstores????

License transfer is done in some states, including AZ. The plate stays with the owner and is transferred when trading for another vehicle.

RE: GPS, What a good one for RV'ing?

I've used the 760 on one trip and it seems to be more than adequate. The routing did get a bit odd as we approached the RV park. I knew where I was going and it wasn't the way I'd go, with nothing but right turns, but it got us there.

RE: Dish Satellite External Hard Drive

The short answer is no. When you formatted the external hard drive to transfer the DVR recordings it will only work with that DVR.
External hard drives will work with other Dish DVRs, but not with other devices.

RE: I hit the lottery..well almost

I found a brochure for your motorhome and it says the hitch is rated at 7000 lbs. You should be fine towing the GC. Make sure the Jeep has either the Quadra-Trac II or Quadra-Drive II 4WD system so it has neutral for the transfer case.

RE: New full-timers and satellite

For the NW, I would go with TechWriter's solution. The Dish Network satellites are more directly south and should provide a better chance of finding the satellites. When I lived in Bellingham and intially had DirecTV, trees were a problem because I had to aim a bit lower to the southeast.
The Dish 722 has the DVR, HD and SD that you're looking for, in one receiver. I have one in our RV. For your needs, the 1000.2 antenna and a sturdy tripod are perfect, and it won't cost much. If you haven't aimed one before, it can be a bit frustrating, but once you get it down, you'll be fine.

RE: NEW 17.3" laptop Win 7

You might try searching again. I found 10 HPs and 2 Toshibas with 17" screens on their site.

RE: aqua hot

The Aqua Hot will handle that with no problems. I left our motor home on our lot in lower temperatures for almost a year, while the garage was being built. The Aqua Hot was on electric and there was no damage.

RE: Motorhome Glass Insurance?

When I got my first motorhome, I got hit by a big rock on the way to the storage place. I hadn't even taken a trip in it yet. The glass was covered 100%.

RE: Laptop VS iPad VS iPhone

I have an iPad (2), but spend 99% of my time on my laptop. The iPad and phone can't do a lot of what the software on my laptop can. If I'm away from home, but not in the RV, I'll use my phone. The iPad gets a little use, but not much.
Swap the phone and laptop usage and that's my wife. She's on the phone most of the time, with a little on her iPad and almost none on her laptop.

RE: Non HD sat dish with a HD TV?

Yes, you can use the SD antenna and yes, it will effect the picture quality. SD has 480 lines to work with. HD uses 1080 lines so it will be much sharper. Most SD uses a 4:3 format. When it's shown on an HD TV, there will be large black areas on each side because HD generally uses a 16:9 format. SD won't fill the screen on an HD TV.

RE: how old is your toad?

I started with an '01 Cherokee that was a dedicated toad. It was pokey, uncomfortable and noisy...just wheels for use on a trip. It didn't get much other use. Since then I've upgraded to a 2010 Grand Cherokee and now a 2013 Grand Cherokee. The initial toad was a throw away car and I didn't care much if something happened to it. The newer ones have been daily drivers that get used all the time. I like it better that way.

RE: Life Changes

She patiently put up with me calling her by the wrong name, etc
I don't have that problem. They both have the same name! No, I didn't plan that. It just happened.

Life Changes

It's funny the curve balls that life can throw. I was married to a wonderful woman for almost 27 years. Her health was always a problem and eventually it caught up with us and I lost her. It was devastating watching her get worse and then die. But, I knew it was her time. We'd done all we could. I did the hospice care at home. She'd had enough of hospitals.
Soon after she died, I joined the online dating site Match.com and met someone. The first date was dinner at her niece's restaurant and went well. It was not long before we both knew...we needed to be together and got married three months later at her parent's house.
In the previous couple of years, I'd lost my mother-in-law, my brother, our dog, then ultimately my wife. Things were below bleak. The decision to pick myself up and move on was right for me. My new wife is so good to me and I make her very happy. She's always smiling and so am I :)
Going in, I had so many doubts. It was too soon, she's 42 and I'm 58, there's too much difference there, she's Christian and I'm agnostic, etc. She's had lots of proposals, but never been married. In the end, I pushed them aside and I'm glad I did. Life is great now. We're together 24/7, but haven't gotten close to arguing. We like being together and never fight at all.
Losing my wife was a crushing blow, but I'm glad that I didn't let it cancel the rest of my life. If I'd languished in grief, I'd be that grumpy old guy that nobody wants to talk to. I had 18 months to prepare for her death and felt like it was a good thing even though it meant losing her. Her pain was finally over.
My new wife knows all of this and she's done so much to exceed my expectations...and she's healthy. She's done all that my previous wife would have done if her health would have allowed it. I went from hospice care to toast and eggs in the morning, plus a massage in the evening.
As I mentioned before, she's very religious and I'm not. She says our marriage was God's will. All I know is that she's everything I could ever ask for. I know that picking myself up, dusting off and moving on was the smartest thing I've ever done. I guess my point is that losing a spouse should not mean the end of your life. I worked my tail off trying to keep my previous wife alive. She deserved it all. When that didn't work, I knew I'd done all I could. I see my new wife as a reward for a life well spent. It's like I earned her love and she waited for me.
The dating site was loaded with obvious frauds. I asked out one woman locally, then expanded my search to 100 miles when she didn't reply. That gave me 2000 women to try. My new wife was the first one I picked. Her profile on the site was so obviously wrong. She was looking locally, too young, but I could answer yes to one critical question. When I asked her out, I figured it was a really long shot, but the worst that could happen was that she'd say no. I don't know what made me pick her, but I'm sure glad I did. The rest is history :)

RE: working from the motorhome = workamping??

I started telecommuting in 2001 and freelancing in 2008. It sure beats working in an office. These days, I just work if someone sends me a project. I love it. I'll get busy for a while, then have a month or more off.

RE: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4 down towing anyone?

CAUTION: Early info on 2014 Grand Cherokee 4WD indicates only some models will be offered with Quadra-Trac II (possibly now called Quadra-Drive II), but other comments suggest that this 4WD system name might not be the only indication of flat-towing mode.
Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II have both been around and are flat towable. I had the Quadra-Drive II system on my previous Grand Cherokee and have the Quadra-Trac II on my current (2013) GC. The Quadra-Trac I version is not flat towable.

RE: Sex and Cellphones

I would say that my wife is a lot more dependent on her smart phone. She has an iPad, but uses the phone 99% of the time. I use my phone for computing and web when away from the house. When at home, I use my computer and rarely touch my phone.

RE: Van Horn, TX is unfriendly toward RVers

I just did a search and $38 for a 40ft MH with slides beats $85 for a ticket.
Unless you book a site every time you stop for lunch, you (and others) have missed the OP's point.

RE: Neighbors satellite dish

Does the TOS allow sharing in this manner?
They're just sharing the antenna and have their own service. It shouldn't be a problem.
