RE: Passport America Camping Directory

I do get my directory - think it might be an add on cost to the annual membership? If you have a smartphone, PA has a great, free app. I use the app more than the directory

RE: Looking for a RV park on 301

If you are going across the Delaware Mem Bridge, there is a cg in NJ at exit 18 on 295 - Timberlane. That might be too close to your start point, but there is really nothing along 301 in Del or Maryland. There is a cg just north of Richmond on I 95 - Ashland - now a KOA, I believe. If you plan to hook onto 95 this cg is just about 10 miles from 301/95.

RE: Living in a Covered RV

OP - why? Are you thinking extra insulation from cold weather? Protecting rv roof? Are you parked in one location? I am a fulltimer, and have never considered any type of covering. When I am parked in a cold weather, snowy area, I do take some extra steps to keep warm and all systems protected - and I do go up on the roof and push broom the snow off before it melts/crusts. Then I scadaddle to FL!!!!

RE: full timing with black water Q

I added a 360 on the roof vent - no more smell.

RE: Boondocking at Walmart

I use the app Allstays to find a WM on the rare occasion I need an overnight spot. I then follow up with a phone call to the WM to confirm overnighting is permitted. I do not want to be driving around at the end of a long day trying to find a place to park.

RE: Off the beaten path to do/see in ME - Acadia

OP here. Can anyone tell us about the ferry to the smaller islands - like Cranberry? Should we take our bicycles? Any tips/details appreciated thanks for all the great suggestions

RE: Advice on full-timer rig needed

Hi Lynne, I am a solo FT'er, 5+ yrs, and like you, thought 34-36'. Several folks encouraged me to expand the length a bit - first to give me more space, but also to include more used coaches in my search. I found a great preowned, 37.5' Newmar. Trust me, not much dif driving 34 or 38, especially since you will have a toad - but the interior dif of 34 - 38 is significant. Good luck in your hunt - Kathy

Off the beaten path to do/see in ME - Acadia

Spending the season in the Bar Harbor/Acadia area, very excited about it. We have been in the area for short vacation type visits. Now that we have several months, not just a few days, we want to explore all the nooks and crannies. Can you help us find those gems? We like to hike (short, day hikes), bike (out of shape flatlanders), historical sites, museums - and oh - we love to eat!!!! Thanks for sharing your Maine "to do's" Kathy

RE: What effect is Sequestration having on the parks?

I am in Maine. Acadia opening date has been moved back 1 month, from mid April to mid May

RE: RV Park Website lies rant

And where do the campgrounds get those photos they use on their websites? Maybe from long ago or photoshopped!!!

RE: Fried A/C, 2 TV's and micro wave-my fault or electricians.

Once you get your current situation resolved with the electrician and the replacement of your electronics - do yourself a favor and invest in a hardwired progressive ems. It has saved me on several occasions over the years.

RE: Cummins engine problem!

I have a '02 ISB 5.9 - exhust leak 2 summers back - I was very fortunate - they were able to replace manifold w/out any further complications. I currently have 95k miles - I am a fulltimer. Sorry for your problem and expense - ouch.

RE: If you were a Snowbird, where would you stay?

wahooo, Nui!!!! Retirement is a beautiful thing, congrats. It seems to me that lots of snowbirds drive south from their winter homes. I winter on the east coast in FL (come on down), there are loads of Quebecers, New Englanders, etc. In the AL gulf coast area, lots of midwest folks - you get the drift. Point that winnie south - anywhere should be warmer than Vancouver :)

RE: 275ISBs in Diesel Pushers

I had my Bosch replaced - with another rebuilt Bosch - I believe that was the only option, I guess 'once a Bosch always a Bosch". Cummins was very direct in explaining the problems with this part. REbuilt was around $1200, + labor. My coach is an '02.

RE: Safe shore Power

OP, follow previous posters advice - get a progressive!!!! I had one hard wired, I didn't want it outside by the pedestal. I was in a very upscale park, something in my pedestal went haywire - burnt one leg to a crisp!!! It was 100% park electrical issue (hnot my rv) - my progressive saved my electronics!! Don't think electrical surges/drops etc can't happen in nice parks - protect your rig

RE: Bar Harbor Campground

I have had good luck at Bar Harbor CG - no reservations - I think we arrived late morning on a Sunday. Once you select your site, it's yours - we extended a few days, no problem. As the previous poster mentioned - cash or check only - they do have pay for 6, 7th free. I had friends that couldn't find a site there, they went to Narrows Too and were happy with that cg. Both those cg's are on the free shuttle bus route.

RE: campground near Atlantic City?

There are some great Jersey Shore towns, but AC isn't one of them. If you need to be there - for work, or casinos - ok, but if you are taking the family for vacation - you might want to consider other options - towards Cape May.

RE: 275ISBs in Diesel Pushers

I have the 5.9 ISB 300 hp. I am a fulltimer, the engine is adequate - not the fastest up the hill, but decent 10mpg - that's a good tradeoff, IMO. I did have to replace the fuel pump, it is the Bosch (sp) vp44 - if I remember right. It is prone to problems, from what I was told by Cummins. BTW, I have over 95k miles on my ISB.
