RE: Considering an RV Garage

I would first work with a metal building supplier for the building and plans. Then I would get the foundation engineered. I would then put it out to bid. The more detail in your plans, the better the quotes will be.

RE: Pets are NOT to be left unattended... what??

The way I look at it, is that it's nobody's business what's going on inside my rig - unless it somehow affects (noise) the neighborhood.

RE: Another steep driveway question

1 foot in 30 feet would equal about 2" in about 4 feet(axle spacing). if you want your axles level, a 2x should work.

RE: Warped Attitude

For me, I think it became prominent when the Dear Marcus forums first appeared. New members (1 to 5 posts) who posted a problem there are routinely spanked by holier than thou types who would almost immediately admonish them as bashing CW - whether the OP's issue is valid or not. These 'spankers', as I call them, aren't contributing to the conversation one bit. It seems that this attitude is carrying over into the other forums where an OP starts a thread and leaves out helpful details or has not well thought out what they are trying to say - and instead of trying to help the OP with leading questions to get more details so that they can be helped, the OP get spanked/admonished into silence and/or the thread gets hijacked.
I would be OK with the admins physically deleting such posts (especially from the Dear Marcus forums) that do nothing but admonish the OP for starting the thread - and to do it without comment.
And sometimes an OP will feel they get bashed simply because someone - or a group of posters, disagrees with them.
Maybe when folks see their OP-bashing replies disappearing it'll persuade them to refrain from posting them in the future.
And sometimes an OP will feel bashed when opinions get posted that simply differ than that of the OP.

RE: Warped Attitude

I didn't realize that when I joined the forum that I was required to answer each and every OP's question whether or not that I knew the answer. If I think I can provide valuable information, then I respond. I do not give useless answers just to be answering.

RE: Warped Attitude

For me, I would not give advice on, for example, maintenance, unless I know that I know what I am talking about, which would not be often. On the other hand, it's fairly harmless to give an opinion about Wally camping - I guess that is something we all have done.
Yep. That's the way I look at it. An opinion on a specific vehicle issue is a lot different than giving an opinion about walmart. But both are good for the forum.

RE: Speakers in slideout

My wires are located in that flexible plastic corrugated conduit and held in tension with springs. If I was to try something different, I may run the wire along the inside edge with the 39" slop along the inside floor. Would be in the way and exposed while retracted but not so when extended.

RE: 12 Volt Outlets

And since this is located in the parks forum I will respond in this manner: when we visit national parks we use our 12-volt plug for charging phones and running our nifty fan.

RE: 5er Newbie

My awareness level definitely goes up a few notches when it's time for fuel. Besides checking the prices, and checking circulation and obstacles, the process is normally in more conjested areas with cars and stop lights. Since my truck is diesel, I'm also looking for the green nozzle that may not be along every island. My advice would be to not worry about traffic around you too much. At least you will be large enough so you won't surprise anyone. Take your time.

RE: Where to Stay Along the Way: So Cal to Portland, OR

Most of the state parks either south of, or north of Eureka are great for dry camping. However, reservations would most likely be necessary - soon.

RE: Long Hot Showers in an RV?

Even in conserve mode, my wife can take nice long showers. Here is her trick. She first rinses her hair real well - but quick. Then she shuts off the spray head. She then takes her time with the shampoo. really lathers up and that can take up to five, six minutes. Then she rinses the shampoo off real quick. She will then repeat the process for the rest of her and will not exit the shower area for a good 15 minutes total. That's what I call a nice long shower. And BTW, out campin' that's a pretty nice treat.

As far as I'm concerned,it's not campin' if you're not cooking outside.
