RE: Roof AC blows but no compressor
No actually I had a friend that had a bad flourescent fixture that did the same thing to his a/c. This friend was an air conditioner tech and thought it was crazy till he started isolating his flourescent fixtures until he found the bad one. He had the thermostats with the remote sensors I believe, am not really sure but it was definately the bad fixture causing his problems.

I have a style lite toilet and had the same problem and I didn't understand what was happening either. In fact I broke 3 cables in 3 months before I found the problem. At the water valve, the cable has a steel ball pressed on the cable and fits in a slot on the water valve. However, I didn't have the ball pushed all the way in the mechanism and the cable was riding on the sharp edge of the mechanism until it finally broke. I too, had the problem of hard to push down and not opening fully. Check both ends of the cable for binding such as this.
