RE: 2013 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali DRW

If I were to buy today it would be 3500 Denali. The computer on your 05 can be tweaked to give you the same exhaust braking as the new ones. Its done through the variable vane turbo, I just had my 06 done.

RE: 3/4 ton - I did it with an LBZ

If I may be so bold to ask. What does a brand new (25k)LBZ cost nowdays?
I know people that would give at least 28K for that truck and maybe 30+ depending. :E
31k for me.
I paid 38K for my 3500 4X4 CC DRW SLT new in Sept of 06. Its pretty hard to find a pickup (or any other modern vehicle) that holds its value as well. Normally if you told someone that you paid 31K for a 7 year old pickup even with 25K on it, you would get laughed at. I doubt anyone is laughing, many are likely saying to themselves "dam, wish I could find an LBZ with 25K on it at any price".

RE: 1985 Chevy Dually opinions

I put 250K on an 84 SRW 3500 with the 6.2L Diesel. They are a little crude compared to more current models, more wind noise, vague steering and so forth. However anyone can work on one and thats worth something. The mileage as mentioned will suck, but when I pull the guts out my 2012 6.0 I am only getting 6-7 mpg as well. If it were me looking at something like that I would prefer to find an 87 and newer so you can pick up fuel injection. Carbs suck and finding guys that really know their way around them is getting more difficult.

RE: Poll: Did you go larger?

We started in 09 with a 2010 322 Fuzion and recently upgraded to a 342 which is a little longer and a little heavier than the 322. We did pretty well guessing what our needs would be with the 322, just a few things I wanted to improve on such as larger garage, snack bar/center island with opposing sides in the kitchen and living area. So we did go a little bigger but not significantly. I was seriously considering going to 395 before I saw the 342.

RE: Shelby Raptor

I doubt there is anyone running the Baja without any problems, no matter what vehicle they are in and certainly not a stock Raptor. The Raptor is "All Hat, and No Cattle". If you want to own one cause they look cool, that makes sense they do look cool, but if you think your going to pretend your a Baja racer on the weekends with one, your idiot with too much money. The issues with these things when driven hard (like desert racing tends to be) is well documented.

RE: Shelby Raptor

Now with a SCed version of the Raptor, they can bend their frames even faster than before.
Nice try! But you need to know how and why that happened. More power will not cause them to bend thier frames! Not knowing the limits of yourself and truck cause those issues.
I do know why, you advertise an off the shelf half ton pickup with some cool looking bolt ons to take on the Baja 1000 and your surprised when the warranty claims start rolling in from guys who actually believed the hype (not sure who is more stupid). My point is with the SC they can go even faster, faster than before and thus wreck their $50K light duty grocery getter dressed up as a desert racer.

RE: Finally..the CEL is gone...See How I Did It

NICE! You could drive that truck a long time and still get good $$ when it comes time to sell.. I have never seen a non 4*4 3500, had a friend looking high and low for one a couple of years ago, he gave up and got a 4*4.
I looked at both 4x4 and 2WD...I looked Nationwide as well...There are more 2WD Dually's out there than one might think. After seriously reflecting on my need for 4x4 in my primary fiver hauler, I realized I could get along quite nicely with a 2WD
I looked for over 3 months to find the right truck for "me". I was amazed at first at how well these 06 and 07 GM DuraMax's hold their value. Good ones are snagged up in a minute...I know...I lost out on a couple of nice trucks by not putting a deposit on the truck over the phone. It quickly became clear that although I might have believed the trucks were priced too high...the marketplace says otherwise.
The flip side, and a positive for sure, is these trucks will continue to bring higher prices than the competition. The proven driveline, validated by publications like DieselPower and a very satisfied owner base, has stood the test of time. So, I may have paid a bit more than I at first thought I would, it should pay me back down the road.
Regards
I dont think you could have picked a better "interim" diesel pickup to buy. You will likely lose little money over the next several years in depreciation. I just had an Edge CTS monitor installed in mine yesterday to keep tabs on the engine parameters and to also give me a camera out back. I also had the computer tune updated to utilize the VVT for engine braking which is the same tech that the current pickups use.

RE: Dealer invoice

Shop online to find what is being offered at what prices. Holmans RV in Ohio has very attractive pricing and are very good to deal with. Enjoy the shopping and do not let local dealers tell you that you cannot get a great deal.
Thats what I did. I contacted Holmans (whom I have bought from before) and Lakeside RV and got the best number I could from them. I then spoke to my local dealer, and got the same end number (Holmans plus shipping costs). However I was prepared to buy from either internet dealer if the numbers would have dictated it. Dealer cost is good info but knowing what the RV is actually selling for is more usable info, in my view. I think if you talk to a couple internet dealers you can get a good idea of what the rock bottom price is of your particular trailer. You may find yourself in a position to buy from the internet dealer due to your local dealers reluctance to lower their price. While negiotiating my last trailer, the local dealer would not go within 10K of Holmans price. I bought from Holmans. This time, the dealer was much more amicable to matching numbers. They know that I have no issues buying 2K miles away if I need to.

RE: B & W Hitch Question

Has anyone seen the B&W slider hitch yet? My father in law has the B&W flip over ball in his 07 2500HD SB. Rather than pull the the flip over and put in a Curt Slider, I have been waiting for the B&W slider to be release.

RE: Tires made it!!

do you change out low mileage car & truck tires after 6 years too?Normally 7 years is recommended, if I recall. But I wear out my car and truck tires long before then.
and when those blow they dont take out the side of a pickup like a blown RV tire tends to do.

I am dealing on a 342 as well. I have sold my 322 to the inlaws. I have been happy enough with my Fuzion to buy another. I did not know about the 331, am I going to wish I had waited?

RE: Pulled 5er over Teton Pass - OMG

The West doesnt have a lock on steep grades. The East does have some steep roads. What the West does have a lock on is altitude. Pulling a steep grade at 2000 feet above sea level much different than pulling the same grade at 8000+.

RE: When new Chevy HD version?

Does anyone have any idea of when we might see a new HD version of the Chevy/GMC? Don't know if we can afford to wait...
I was also waiting for the new GM HD Bodies with larger and more deluxe cabs and interiors. They will not be available as 2014's. Deb's son works at the GM Tech Center as a new product technical troubleshooter. His job is to drive, evaluate. identify issues and propose possible remedies. They just received the new 2014 1500 Silverado's two weeks ago. The 2014 HD's, with the current chassis but some cosmetic upgrades, are still being evaluated at Engineering. All the HD's he has seen are still in camouflage dress. Seeing that the 2014's, with the current body, are not even being production tested yet, it looks like 2015 Model Year at the soonest...
It will be fun though to see the 2014 HD's when they come out of camouflage...I will keep the boy's here updated...
Regards
That would be a cool job.

Towing 322 Fuzion with 07 2500HD Classic

I am selling my 2010 322 Fuzion to my inlaws. He drives an 07 Classic 2500HD, CC, Duramax, 4X4 with a 6.5' bed. He is a little concerned about having enough pickup. The 322 has a listed tongue weight of 2560. Having a hard time finding a rated payload capacity but it appears perhaps somewhere around 3K. I found a max trailer weight of 18.5K which is well within spec of the trailer. Is there anyone pulling a similar fifth wheel with a similar truck? Has anyone needed to add any suspension aids to level the load out? Also do you need a slider hitch with this combo? I have been pulling it with a 3500 DRW so my situation is different and I never worried about these things.

RE: Which Ford Diesal Motor Should I stay away from.

If you want a FORD diesel I would get the 6.7 This may be newer than your looking for, but really its your only good option unless you want to go back to 02 and later for a 7.3
