RE: still broke down

I had my last Dodge at a dealer (not bought from) for warranty work. I had a tranmission leak. I dropped it off Sunday night. They called Monday morning to let me know what it was. They were supposed to have it ready that afternoon. They called and said it wouldn't be ready due to the mechanic getting pulled off of my truck to work on someone from out of town. I am glad that they were able to get someone back on the road, I just hope that I get the same treatment if I am out of town and break down. I also agree with the consensus ...it doesn't take that long to diagnose a problem.
The phone call was the deal to let you know what happened and then you felt good for somebody. So easy to call folks but usually not what happens.

RE: Troubles with Bighorn

During the good days for WRV that makes alpenlite their story was the work teams received a bonus for the least amount of problems their team had and this made the other team members watch each other to get the most money.

RE: Thinking about an Alpenlite

Chevman, I have the build sheet from the owner on this particular unit. Does the info you have provide any interesting info?
Lyle The brochure gives the information like how much the tanks hold, the weight at the pin etc. the colors also but you know the color. axle size gvwr. It even tells you the chev truck is the best to tow it. Joking of course.

RE: Thinking about an Alpenlite

When we are back to Wash St in April we will have slept in our 2001 35 ft avalon alpenlite 4.57 years. It has been good for us and still here a great small home.

RE: Thinking about an Alpenlite

Does anyone know the year when Lippert started making Alpenlite's frames? We're looking at a 2005 & would like to know the frame manufacturer. Is there a label or tag that indicates?
Lyle
Tell the model and this will let us know the answer to help you.

RE: Did I break city water check valve?

We were having low water pressure and I felt it was the check valve so I removed it and might not replace it. I might just cap off the 4 ft hose I keep attached to the inlet. So now We don't have the hot water check valve or the inlet check valve. I didn't remove the brass fittings just the parts inside.

RE: 3.42 Gears????

As we know what you buy for a truck sometimes needs to be thought out incase you want a bigger rv. This happens very easy. I would not buy anything higher geared than a 3.73. I did have the 3.42 but changed it to the 4.10 and it was much better.

RE: 2008 Dodge 3500 6.7L Towing Capacity

We had a 98 2500 dodge for awhile. The brochure showed the same weight towing for the ratios that was offered at that time but this changed afew years later.

RE: The length of the planks that I park the trailer on

I use 8"X8" 3/4" plywood squares. The same size as the plastic blocks that I have broken enough times to finally change to the plywood. I cannot understand carrying 2 long 2x8's. rving since 1996 and what we do works great for us.

RE: Spied: 2011 Silverado 3500HD

To me no truck looks any better than the other two. A truck is a truck that needs to do a job not win a beauty contest. The way it drives means more to me than looks.

RE: Opinion on 3 used 5th wheels please.

I would see what I didn't like the most of the 3 choices. Some things just can't be fixed. For example if you can't stand up in the bedroom you will never really like that fifth. Most things you can just get used to.

RE: Toilet Doesn't Hold Water - Causes?

I have had this problem a couple of times. The fix for the first time was using vinagar and leaving it in over night. This cleaned the water deposits from Calif and Az off the rubber. Finally months later had a new seal installed.

RE: how do i fix a squeaky floor?

I would think something rubs to make the sound and yuou will have to work at finding where and why. We have a 2001 alpenlite and sometimes after sitting in Az in the dry air we get a squeak at times. Nothing that makes a problem but look to see if some trim is moving at the shower area or maybe the floor moves up and down at the shower install to the floor. Hope somebody has fixed theirs to help you.

RE: Shower Door... Adjustable?

Maybe I will say it different this time. Something is twisted and if you can push to the opposite site of the hinge and it moves this will be a clue.

RE: Shower Door... Adjustable?

If you push on the hinge side towards the right and if it moves easy it would mean the shower has shifted. This is what it looks like in your great picture. I wish I was smart enough to post pictures. I can't answer for a fix for you.

RE: Help with Prodigy Controller Shorting out

In almost every case like this it is where the brake wires run through the axle from one side to the other. After a few years of vibration inside the axle the insulation wears off of the wire and you get intermitment shorts. Most people reroute the wires to the outside rear of the axle inside some sort of protection from road hazards.
We had the same problem as the original poster has and your answer was what fixed our shorting problem.

RE: Stock 8.1 pulling 15k pounds without damage ?

We had the same truck as Jimmyfred but with the locker rear end. If you think of it this way as I did the duramax has more torque so the 8.1 should not have a problem over powering the allison. Our 2001 8.1 when traded at 52K was the same as new.
