RE: Dometic NDR 1292 fridge cooling unit installation?

That one is a pain- take your time, run a tap through any threaded holes before you put the c/u in the box, especially the freezer side. Make sure it's well sealed to the cabinet. I'm jealous that you got one- I've been waiting for weeks for a warranty unit, and was just told that *maybe* it will get through customs by the 17th, with another couple of weeks to get to me. Thanks Chris! I'm getting a new one built by the Amish with 3/5 year warranty.

Dometic NDR 1292 fridge cooling unit installation?

Hi folks Anyone ever change out the cooling unit in their fridge? I'm getting ready to tackle this myself with written instruction from Dometic. Any words of wisdom are appreciated. Thanks

RE: Hydronic Heating Problem

I have the same issue on zone 2 in our coach with the Hurricane hydronic furnace. Here's one of the answers I got on another forum: "...there is a board in each of the AC units that are part of the over all heating and cooling system. they are connected to the thermostat with a phone connector, (may not have been reconnected) Also a fuse on each AC unit board as well as a dip switch to tell the thermostat which zone it is. This board also controls the way the Hurricane Heating system cycles. The cycle time is controlled by a delay relay that acts very much like anticipator slide in the old style thermostats. > Had to replace the card because of fast cycling of hurricane zone 2 . This solved the problem. This fix was recommended by the Hurricane folks." >

RE: Emissions on Diesel engines in California

I don't want to sway away from the initial question but, Westcoast: Are you kidding me?!! Please tell me the logic behind making diesels pay $75 in lieu of smog testing, no forget it I don't even want to know. I'm not going to waste my time looking at your profile but i'm guessing you don't have a diesel. I would love to tell you what I really think about your statement but that's not what this forum is about. Please excuse Westcoast's reply, not all California's are knuckle#@*&#. Back to the initial post. I emailed CARB yesterday and asked them the same question, haven't heard back from them yet but I will post the reply when I do. Gee tporter, tell us how you really feel! LOL!

RE: Waxing Top Of MH

Roy, go to the Monacoers or Ramblin Pushers forums, ask the same question and you will get one answer, "Mop & Glow" floor wax. Goes on with a mop, no nbuffing required, protects the roof, stops the streaking on the side of the coach and last a year. For fiberglass and aluminum roofs, there is nothing better. I've heard that stuff doesn't block the sun's UV rays though. I use Protectall, but t require buffing. Others have reported good results with 303 spray, and no buffing.

Dometic fridge has poor cooling?

I'm having a problem with inadeqaute cooling (45+) on my Dometic NDR1292 fridge setting 4. I disconnected the thermistor and the fridge/freezer gets real cold. Once the fridge got cold, an OHM check showed 8.9K OHMs at 35F. I measured the temperature right at the thermistor with a IR thermometer. The fridge temperature reading was taken with a typical fridge thermometer. Technical information from Dometic tells me the thermistor is probably good (should be 8-9K OHMs at 32F). But, I wonder why the fridge goes to full cold (35F) when I disconnect the thermistor P2 connector on the board? Could it be a circuit board or something? Or is 45F+ the best I can now hope for? It used to get colder than 45F+. Maybe 38F on setting 2. Now setting 4 only gets ~45F. Thanks. Larry

RE: Newbie question....covering tires with what?

What do you use to cover the tires? I've seen rv's parked alongside homes with what looks like simple dish towels. What else do you use? Dish towels don't seem adequate in my opinion! I don't waste my time. The tires will last 6 or so years anyways without the covers (IMO). Am I gonna feel better about running them longer than the recommended 6 years or so if I cover them up? I don't think so.

RE: What your YOUR top pick be for...

...... We love the 36' Country Coach. It's a great riding machine with a very livable floor plan and it has been able to get into all the state/national parks that we have been to with no problem...... Couldn't have said it better myself...:B Ya just had to be there to understand! Right Sully?

RE: No elecric to refrigerator or microwave

Got up this morning no power to refrigerator or microwave.Turned all power off, went outside unpluggd from pole, flippd all the breaker switches on power pole then waited turned them back on,plugged cord back in ,went to breaker box flipped all the switches back on but still no power to them, refrigerator is on propane now, anyone got a clue??? Thanks phil I had the opposit problem. The microwave and the fridge were the only recepticals that worked. Found a circuit breaker switch tripped on the Xantrax inverter. There are two switches on my inverter, the one that was tripped was for all the other receptacles. The other one next to it is for the fridge and microwave on my coach. Check your inverter switches.

RE: oil filter wont budge

I had to liquid welded a metal type oil filter socket on my MC filter once and that did the trick. Of cource I had to throw the socket away after it was all over.

RE: What your YOUR top pick be for...

In diesel pushers,.....the smallest and the best that I would pick is a 36 ft Country Coach. Anything smaller does not allow sufficient length for a suitable wheelbase-to-overall length ratio. That's my opinion based on my own experience and knowledge. We had the 24' Trek and traded it for our 36' Country Coach. The Trek had it's good and bad points. Good points = roomy and could park anywhere. Bad points = it was all over the road and really hard to drive + day time naps were inconvenient with the bed in the living room. We love the 36' Country Coach. It's a great riding machine with a very livable floor plan and it has been able to get into all the state/national parks that we have been to with no problem. The WB ratio that Cloud Dancer mentioned is very important for drivability IMO.

RE: Singing the Aqua Hot blues - yet again and again...

There is just ONE step better then an Aqua-hot. Oasis Those guys don't have as snazy a website, but man do they have a better product. We can't smell ours, when it fires up, it has two immersion electric heaters (for when you are plugged in, of course), and it is just a great all around heater. We love ours! And it works great. God bless, John Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with this company at all. I am just passing along useful information to fellow rvers. Ditto on Oasis! I have their Hurricane unit with the electric elements and love it. It cranks out endles hot water and furnace heat and is easy to maintain/perform scheduled maintenance. And, their tech services are top notch!

RE: Verizon 5 GB plan which is best

I full time and have the Verizon 5G air card which works out great. Then I needed a new phone and after a great amount of discussion and investigation have decided on the "Straight Talk" tracphone from WalMart, $30/mo for 1000 nationwide anytime minutes (I average 600 minutes/mo). There will be times when the phone will be out of range, but hopefully my aircard will be able to pick up broadband and I can use Skype. Be carefull, because Skype (VOICE)can eat up your 5G allowance faster than normal internet usage.

RE: Replace Black Tank Flush Valve

Many have trouble sliding/squeezing the new valve into position without damaging/twisting the seals. One easy way I found to do this is to place a soapy sheet of plastic (like a document protector) on each side of the new valve, then slide it into position. Once the valve is lined up in the correct position, remove the plastic sheets and the valve can easily be jostled into the correct grooved position.

RE: Anybody using the Hawkshead TPMS ?

So far, with two months of traveling, ours has worked just fine. I bought this one because it reports temperature too. Now, there is an arguement some present on the accuracy of the temp readings that claim the small valve stem sensor cannot give true temp readings. This may be true, but a reference point is a good thing too

RE: 2000 Country Coach questions

We have a 2003 36' Allure, but it was put into service in July of 2002, so it's not too far from yours. If that coach has the Hurricane furnace, I think there was an upgrade/recall on the circuit board. At least there was one on mine. You should have the good steel/copper radiator, not the failure-prone aluminum one CC started installing around 03/04, I think. CC sent me a metal sheet that I installed on the bottom of the radiator that practically elimanted the dust storm. We love the coach and it rides nice on the Michelin XZEs and Koni FSDs all around. The longer we have the coach, the more we like it. $70K sounds good to me. If that's where their starting, then as you probably know, it will sell for less.
