My cat loves "Tide".

My cat loves freshly washed clothes when using "Tide".
He rubs all over them and acts like they are catnip.
After he finishes rubbing his face all over them he lies down on them, as to be making them his.
I thought it was a first when I found he went wild for cooked Asperagus then he fell in love with olives. one or two were fine, but if I give him a bunch he will eat so many the he coughs them up.
Cheetos are another favorite, but he has a limit of 3 or 4 snapped into little pieces.
I LOVE MY CAT..............People, not so much.

RE: Virus

I don't see where anyone has mentioned how to avoid getting these Virus' like the emails everyone keeps opening when the have no idea who sent them.
After the attack treatments are great, but preemptive care needs to be stressed too.

RE: Looking for Restaurants in the Reno/Tahoe Area

Harrah's at Tahoe AND Reno. Something in everyone's price range.
It's been a few years now, but there may be other new ones that are great too.

RE: Internet Rant.

Think outside the box and you'll see that TV is for advertising with some movie and program clips stuck in here and there.

Tracfone?

DW has to go to Montana to help old, confused mom and though of getting a Disposable phone.
I suggested she take our Verizon phone and I would get the Tracfone for the house till she gets back. Personally I hate phones, but an emergency might arise for me.
Any thoughts?:)

RE: Wireless headphone for listening to internet radio from PC?

I've got something very similar to these
Plug into my sound card on the PC and sound great.
Have another set that I use in the bedroom for late night TV watching once the wife has good to sleep.
Reasonable price, decent sound quality and easy to use and keep charged.
Same here. For the TV they are great with a 300 foot range and even outside. Good base tones too.
I have a really old pair of "Advent" wireless from the '90's and the added Duck Tape keeps them in good repair.

RE: Why always news video?

Look at TV programming in the reverse.
What we are seeing is "Commercial Advertising TV" with "Interspersed" pieces of programming, like News.
Who is interested in world events any way when you can endlessly enjoy hour after hour of "Call today and get a second one absolutely free, just pay separate shipping and handling".
Think how much less bandwidth we used to use when the monitor had a green screen with only text showing. With pictures there is less need to be able to read the written words.

RE: Ugh!! It's Time To Lose Weight Again

My Mom used to read "Eat Fat and Grow Thin", title is not exact.
She could go up or down at least 5 pounds a week if was so inclined.
TV diet ads are money makers and so are books.
We went food shopping yesterday at one of those Big Fat Eating stores, you know, they are called Supper Markets. As soon as you enter you are bombarded by FATTENING STUFF. THEY know you want it, so there it is.
Doughnuts, cakes, pies, Pastries and the list is endless. No wonder people are poor, all they're income is in they're digestive tract and ends up as outgo.
As is so popular to say in today's life, "Just Say No" instead of YUMMY.
When you look at fattening goodies train yourself to visualize a really disgusting and revolting vision, like The Blob".
And what may help more then anything would be to Get Off the Computer and smell the air outside. Despite what the rumors say, the air IS CLEAN and suitable for human consumption.
Now, where are those GLAZED DOUGHNUTS I HID IN THE CLOSET? YUMMYYYYY.

RE: Reality TV shows are degrading

The shows that make me question the public's intelligence lever are those home videos where many people are caught in the act of getting INJURED.
People getting hurt seems to be really popular.
Who doesn't enjoy watching Dad get hit in the privates by a baseball hit by a little kid? Yeah right.
What next (as I have often predicted), new Gladiatorial Games with prison inmates?
What ever happened to Mr Wizard? Oh, I know, it was educational.

RE: Whatever became of instrumental recordings?

Pretty simple really - the average listener anymore needs lyrics otherwise the music has no "meaning" to them. Music in this day and age is an industry MUCH more than an art, so if it doesn't make money it's outta there.
I never thought of it this way, but you're right.
Then, if what we used to call music has changed, leaving out the instrumental part and centering on the spoken (RAP) words, what are we to call this new for of sound?
I guess they will eventually have a name for it and it will become a new normal.
Maybe "Rhap-sody"?

RE: Whatever became of instrumental recordings?

If the customers can't carry a tune, then caterwauling and a cacophony of sounds is all they like and want more. Not to mention that if they're high then nothing really matters.
I grew up with Chet Atkins and a host of other guitar greats, plus singers that could actually carry a tune and always right on pitch. Some voices almost sounded life they were instruments.
But now, music is just something that is blared in the back ground and is just ignored conscientiously.
A similar thing happened to Disco. Too many people just has no coordination.
Just when I was getting into Disco it passed away and was replaced by this SPASTIC wiggling as in Saint Vitus Dance syndrome.
I hope I never lose my great memory for good things past.
