RE: Key west ?

Bring money; lots of money.
As to the kids, age 12 and 15, unless they have had a sheldered life they won't be too shocked by whats down there, just don't let them travel around by themselves. theres some real weard people down there. as long as their with you you won't have a problem.

RE: Should I store my rv with Levelers down

Jacks up, jacks down; start engine, don't start engine; drive motorhome, don't drive motorhome.
Heres my take on all this, the road repair equepment has lots of hydrolic seals in them; in the northern states this equipment could set with out moveing for 6 months or more in the winter, a lot of time out in the weather, this equipment isn't started or moved all this time.
I turn my motorhome off and it sets till I"m ready for my next trip; in the winter (I live in florida) it isn't started or moved untill the summer when I leave for cooler places, this is sometimes a 6 month period, in the 25 years I"ve been doing this, I"ve never had a problem with the last 4 motorhomes I"ve owned.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Pulling the big rig (wife says size does matter!) out of the barn today even though 6 inches of new snow. Leaving in 8 days for Kentucky. Lots to do to rig but the weather sucks for doing much. We'll make it though!
I feel for you guys in that cold weather. It is close to 80 degrees today here in southern California.:B
Darn it's only 72 here in florida

RE: Yellowstone - West or South entrance?

Just as a heads up, there are only two small grocery stores in West Yellowstone. They do carry the basics, but have a limited selection due to space. Since you are planning to get there in just two days, you probably won't have to restock, but if you need something on the way up there is a WalMart in Idaho Falls.
From West Yellowstone to the Tetons just drive through Yellowstone and out the south entrance. If you need to restock while in that area there are two large supermarkets on the south side of Jackson, an Albertsons and a Smiths.
Thanks! How is the road through Yellowstone in a 38' DP? Could we tow the toad or would we have to unhook it?
don't unhook; you will have no problems.

RE: Yellowstone - West or South entrance?

One option I haven't seen mentioned is Baker's Hole Campground about 3 miles north of West Yellowstone. About half of the sites have electricity, some 50 amp, and water is available as you come in, no dump station. It is a NFS campground and interagency passes are accepted. We found it very nice and handy to Yellowstone for a much more reasonable price than Grizzly. We had planned on staying at Grizzly at 59.95 a night but they couldn't put us in a site for seven days straight so we looked at Baker's Hole and got into it. It's first come/first serve so get there early. With our Golden Age pass, seven days only cost a little over what one days stay at Grizzly would have been. The West Yellowstone entry in our blog is located here and has a couple of pictures of the site and a lot of Yellowstone. Our 40 footer fit but it was tight in the site we selected but others were larger.
been there "much" cheaper than staying in a privit park, and its a realy nice park with much larger sites than you will find in the privit parks.

RE: Lunch with the 1%

Looks like the canal is no more than 3 or 4 hundred feet long; I agree them boats are for looking; Its like--- (I got a bigger (more expensive) boat than you have) so I win.
I would be very uncomfortable staying in a park like that

RE: Grey Water Tank Plugged

Most RVers when hooked up to a sewer system just open their grey tank valves and leave them open: Huge mistake; junk will build up in you grey tank just like your black tank; not just as fast, it will realy mess up your gate valve so it won't seal, besides the junk that will build up in your tank,

RE: Best time for a trip to the Grand Canyon?

Haven't been to the South rim in 65 years. They say its a circus over there these days. Been to the North rim several times after school starts in the fall. Stayed in Kanab, Utah because we like it there. I lived in Tucson as a kid in the 50s and the Grand Canyon as are so many other places have about been ruined by tourists and commercialism.
July and August; unless you love masses of people (half don't speak english) forget this time of year; May or September still lots of people but manageable. Last time I was there it snowed, and that was in September. weather changes very quick.

RE: rubber roof mildew

Search this forum for roof mildew and you will find more info on how to treat the Mildew!
"did" the only thread I got was this one; the other posts were about those that had hard roofs.
Putting something harsh on my roof as advised in the other thread bothers me. I guess I"ll just keep washing it with soap and water every couple of months.

RE: Cold Here In Florida

In the 50 plus years I've spent in Florida; I haven't had anything freeze
You obviously were not in Jacksonville January 21, 1985 - low was 7º, high was 30° - below freezing for a day and a half.:B
I live on the west coast about half way down in Florida; don't get that cold here; your right, Jacksonville is the frozen north in Florida.

RE: Extended warranties on used motorhomes

You folks ever heard of the south Georgia garentee:
Works like this: and its the same as an awful lot of those that sell insurance policies;
If it breaks----you own "all" the pices;
I"d bank the money that the insurance policy costs
My 2 cents worth

rubber roof mildew

I park my motorhome beside my house in the shade and after a couple of months the green stuff begins to show up on the roof; Ive cleaned it with soap and water but in a couple of months its back; some one suggested clorox but that seems a little harsh for a rubber roof; I don't want to apply something thats going to shortin the life of the roof. Any suggestions?
