RE: 5TH Wheel Hitch

Others will chime in with more knowledge, but I think you don't have enough truck for that trailer.

RE: Heaters

I just bought the Vornado DVTH. Rather pricey $100 but recommended on another forum. Very nice and it does put out some heat. check them out

RE: extended warrenties on 5th wheels

I have the Good Sam, paid for itself in the replacement of the refrig. Good Sam was very easy work with on the repair. Very good experience.

RE: Extended Service Plans?

I bought the Good Sam extended warranty. Paid for itself as my refrig went out. Very good experience with Good Sam. Glad I took the warranty.

RE: Looking for a BAL light trailer leveler

Are they really that easy to use? How do they raise the tire? Do you need one for each tire on a dual axle?
Thanks, Tom

RE: Fulltiming $$$$$'s

I am the same as Skip. I hope to fulltime once the house sells. Right now I have my 5er on a site costing less than $500 a month which includes everything, cable too. Use it on weekends only, but the price is the same as if I lived their fulltime. Hard to live much cheaper than that. The key is you have to stay in a spot longer to get the daily rate down. Once I retire I have nothing but time and I like to get the lay of land as they say, so staying longer won't be a problem.
Also some of the memberships, Passport etc,, can really save money.

P3 Brake controller Problem help!!

Bought and installed the P3 brake controller in my 2007 Chevy 2500 Classic. Just a plug and play. All worked fine yesterday. Went and started the truck this morning when the screen went red and Warning no brakes showed up. (No 5er attached)It would not go away so I unplugged it from my truck. Then my truck beeped several times and my brake light came on and then reset. Any ideas?
Thanks, Tom

Activator II by draw-tite brake controller

The activator II came as a package deal with my hitch.
Does anyone else have this brake controller? I know everyone likes the Prodigy P3. Should I ditch the Activator II? or do you have something good to say about the Acitvator II?
Thanks, Tom

RE: 5th wheel make/model comparisons

I have been researching 5th wheels for some time and heard a while ago that I should maybe stay away from Dutchman. Can't remember why but it is in my notes of 5th wheels. Could have been one not so happy owner of which there a many with any brand. Remember it what you like and how the 5er fits your needs. One suggestion and don't forget I am new to this world of RV'ing is buy a 5ver with two slides. One in the bedroom makes a world of difference. Again my 2 cents and surely not an expert just a rain drop of wet behind the ear.
My other 2 cents is make sure you have the correct vehicle to tow your rig. Very important!!

RE: REAL basic new to 5'er ???'s regarding truck bed

His wife wants to haul items in the bed of the truck. The little trailer allows his wife to haul items without the removal of the heavy hitch. I think the trailer is a great idea!!

RE: REAL basic new to 5'er ???'s regarding truck bed

just buy a 5 x 8 trailer with a small ramp and you are good to go. the bed for my 2500 is high and to lift a lawn mower etc is hard for me to do. rolling it on to the trailer is the best for me.

Advice needed on pricing

I am looking at a 2006 Wildcat 29RLBS for sale at a dealer. In looking at the NADA book it lists all the options such as microwave, AC water heater etc.. even a powerslide out for the bedroom. This model comes with a slide out in the bedroom, so why would anyone say that is an option? and add it to the NADA price? the dealer showed me the NADA book value and added in the ac, water heater, microwave, the bedroom slide etc... I have not seen a 5th wheeler without those items and consider them as standard. I know they want to show me this ( I call inflated price) then say look at the deal I am giving you. Should i be thinking differently?
Thanks for all your advise as it does help when making a purchase.

Reese slider hitch

I noticed when looking at the reese slider hitches that the slider can have square bars or round bars. Which is the best or does it matter?

Looked at 2006 Keystone Cougar 5er Advise needed

Went and looked at a 2006 Keystone Cougar 245 5er. For sale by individual, Private sale not dealer. Asking price is $16,000 or best offer and comes with a reese 16,000lb slider hitch. Details interior like new very clean and the color is fine with the wife ( a must as we all know). All systems seem to work and seller( bought new) seems honest about things. Outside has mildew on caulking needs cleaning. Is this common? Also the trailer has stress cracks(in one spot) in the fiberglass on the front of the 5er where he hit the corner of his house. Doesn't look bad but could it cause trouble and should I get it fixed. Couldn't see a hole in the area, but stress cracks are there. Also tires need to be replaced as they are original. So I am looking at tires, detailing, installation of hitch, hook up of power for the truck say $1200 to $1500 plus the electric brake system. Now if the stress crack needs fixing will be some more cost. What kind of price should I offer (this would be a cash deal, no financing) or should I walk away because of the stress cracks?
We like everything about the 5er just some concerns
Sorry for the long post
