RE: Midway RV Park, Coos Bay Oregon

Try Oceanside RV on Cape Argo Hwy, we have stayed there and enjoyed it... we plan to be there tomorrow if travels go as planned. It wont place you next to your friends, but the beach is a great soother. :)JH

RE: installing a house toilet in our trailer

Another problem to consider is the use of a wax ring to seal between the toilet and the drain pipe, the wax ring will loose it's seal with road travel and movement. There are some better quality RV Toilets on the market, you might have her "road test" those before taking the plunge (pun intended). JH

RE: Golf cart fell off the ramps while loading

The video makes it look simple but does not show how he gets the golf cart over the wheel wells, either loading or unloading. I am thinking that there may be an opportunity for a fabricator to make a lightweight loading platform that allows the wheels of the cart to remain above the wheel wells and provide a system to both store and attach the ramps safely. Also, if the winch location needs to be elevated so it is not pulling down while the cart is trying to go up over the wheel wells. IMHO JH

RE: Do I Really Need 4x4 when towing in the mountains?

My 4X4 allows me to travel snow covered mountain passes without tire chains in most cases. Also, I use my 4X4 low range many times to reduce the strain on my transmission when backing my tralier uphill, just some thoughts to keep in mind when you make your purchase. JH

RE: Contract for new RV Garage…?

You will be happier in the long run if you have a 6-6-10 wire mesh or #3 rebar every 12-16" in that 6" floor, the new fiber "hair" just is not the same IMHO. JH

RE: First Oregon Trip

We like to dry camp at Hors Fal just out of Coos Bay, we are on our way next month to the Driftwood Campground as Hors Fal is full, and both are dry camping. Both campgrounds have showers and they are full of toy haulers and toys to enjoy, sometimes cruising the campground is almost as much fun as the dune riding. You might consider crossing over to 101, the views going up the Oregon Coastline are worth the time. Highway 299 between Redding and Eureka scares many RV drivers, I do it all the time without any problem, but I know how to drive in the mountains and I enjoy the scenery. JH

RE: Oregon Coast

If your travel stops include Coos Bay, we like the Oceanside RV Park on Cape Arago Hwy. It is out of town a few miles, a almost private beach (not beach view), the park was clean, has wifi, etc. JH

RE: Where to try the new hybrid toyhauler near Denver?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a hybrid toyhauler verses a regular toyhauler? JH

RE: sea and sand rv resort on the oregon

We were there last year, loved it, going back again soon. The beach access is easy, the park was clean, great food within a few minutes drive... yep, I am ready to go back right away. JH

RE: Polaris is leading the way...

And since when did AK-47 come out with a 50 cal model, I think the article may be a little misleading on this fact. Well maybe I have not seen it all. JH

RE: toy hauler FAQ's

Thank you moderator for the resize. Our Octane has a queen size bed in the front that does not show in the photos. Odor has not been a problem within the coach... well not from the toys, haha. My drop down beds are queen width, but 8' long. I carry a memory foam pad on the upper bunk during transport and move it to the lower bed for sleep, just a little more comfort for the "old" bones. I also carry a Honda EU2000 to charge battery's and evening entertainment, I only use the on board Onan/Cummins 4000 when I run the AC and that is very rarely used.

RE: toy hauler FAQ's

For what it’s worth, we love our Jayco Octane. 24’, sleeps 8 easy, we did the “Super Seating” option that allows seating for 8-9 around the kitchen table, 2 electric beds in the garage and a built in bug screen for when the garage door is open. I did not want to give up my PU Bed, so bumper pull was our option. The TH is 8’6” wide, which is good for the interior space, but I notice the extra width during towing and we are 12’6” high at the AC. We like having the “garage” as usable space when we are not hauling our toys, anyway, just a few photos of our rig. The Black Birds pecked holes all over our cover, just like they do the garbage bags at the dump... yep that is where our new cover is now... at the dump :( JH

RE: tying down your toy

My hauler is tight with the upper cabinets also, as you might see in the photo. I use 2 straps in the front and 1 in the back pulling against the 2 front ones, it has never moved. RE: Baja Seasons Beach Resort - what are your experiences?

Just a little off subject, but... I just returned from San Felipe this week, I crossed at Mexicali, felt welcomed and never felt unsafe south of the border. JH
