RE: Kids inheritance

My dad passed away @ the age of 54.He worked hard, but the last few years of his life the dollars were spent on medicial bills.I didn't expect anything.Nor with my mother dies do I expect anything. They worked for it so why not injoy it?Now on my in-laws side,my D/W has 1 sister that has already ask her dad to go ahead and Give me my inheritence!I couldn't believe it!You sure do have alot of nerve to ask for something thats not yours!I can already see it coming if my in-laws die while were still living. Before the dust settles she would be @ their house packing and taking things. What a disgrace!I've told both my kids if something ever were too happen to me and the D/W there to pay off any bills thats left and they can split it down the middle. The sad part about my in-laws is they keep saying,I sure wish we could go out west or to Niagra Falls. My response? Then why don't you? They have the money to do whatever they want. But worry about what ifs.You only live once on this earth. And like several others stated you sure can't take it with you.Well I guess you could be buried with it!

RE: Get Off The CELL Phone! GAAAHHH!!

You would think someone could glance down @ there phone while driving and see what phone number it is before trying to answer.Or do like me and let it go too voice mail,@ which time I'll check later, usually within 1 hr,once I'm stopped. If I'm towing I'll flat our refuse too answer the phone. My D/W has answered my phone, then try and hand it too me,with the reply its such and such.I've told her to don't do that if I'm driving, cause I'm not going too talk to them. And once were sat up camp I don't want to talk on the phone either! If you call me it better be a emergency. The same goes when I set down to a meal.I think its Very Rude to carry on a conversation on the phone while @ the table, and I sure don't want to hear other phone conversations coming from other tables, but thats another thread.

RE: Camping vs. Available time to camp, time to sell TT?

You can camp alot till say the kids reach 15 too 16 yrs old.Once gasoline and perfume mix its all over!I also think that in the teenage years the kids don't think its cool to go camping or be seen with mom or dad. When our kids reached that milestone our sch was so hectic. And several times I would go one way too a ballgame and the D/W went the other way. Then we would swap off. Both played J/V and Varsity sports, and when the boys were home the girls were away,so it was a constant split. Then summer was spent with travel teams, with a few tourn. in the fall. Now add scouts, hunting, fishing, and camping too the mix.If we had to do it over we wouldn't change a thing.Tiring? You bet ya!Thats why we had kids @ a early age. What I'm trying to say is get out and support your kids in whatever they do,and spend that quality time with them! You want regret it when you get older.Even if you do put the camping on hold for awhile you can always start back up.Personally I'm glad too see parents taking time out too support and spend time with the kids that they brought into this world, reguardless if its camping, sports,or something else.

RE: Camping vs. Available time to camp, time to sell TT?

We went thru the same thing.2 kids in high school,3 years apart, and both playing sports.Between scouting, sports, etc.we didn't have much time to go camping. We did go on a vacation and rented cabins in the mountains or a beach house.Once the younger one got out of high school we started back camping. For the first 3 years it was just me and the D/W.Then along came grandkids!Boy what a blessing! Its hard to deside, but it worked out for us.Now if your TT is paid for I would say build a shelter to park it under and keep it for when you want to use it.Ofcourse if your trying to justify the dollars for the trips it never works out in your favor, unless you fulltime in it.Good Luck on what you deside.

RE: Leaving firewood

God has blessed me so when were usually packing up I look around @ the other folks camping and try and pick out someone who would appricate it and then go ask.I know your not to judge but sometimes just looking and observing you can tell.It might be a single person with kids, older folks who have trouble getting around,or maybe someone camping like we first started out many years ago.If they say no I say OK,Hope you all have a great time camping and go ask someone else.If no takers I'll load it up too take on the next campout. But if you want too leave it I don't see nothing wrong with anyone coming up and taking it,once your gone.

RE: Why?

Nothing wrong in noticing folks.I do it all the time. Not only do I notice folks but I also notice whats around me.I guess over the years working in bad areas you get into a habit doing this.I'm on the larger size and prefer the comforts of a larger shower. My D/W prefers the TT shower. As far as cameras in the showers? If you want to look @ me in that way you are one sick person! Our next R/V will be a 5th wheel, and then I'll probley start using the 5th wheel shower, because the showers are alot bigger. My in-laws want use there toilet except for peeing.I don't understand this.Ofcourse its kinda funny seeing mom-n-law come out of the TT in the morning with a squimish face and legs about crossed waddling down too the bathhouse too use the toilet!LOL!I just sit back and shake my head and laugh!

Think your safe in your R/V during a thunderstorm?

Other than high winds, hail,or trees falling I would have thought so.But after seeing the latest news now its got me thinking. It appears that in a C/G in N/Y lightning struck a R/V and caught it on fire.I know we hear about lightning striking houses all the time but I guess I never thought about it while in your R/V.I would have thought that the wheels would be good insulators, but forgot about the metal jacks that touch the dirt, which would ground the frame of your R/V.

RE: Crossing A Line--$$$

A little off topic, but went with my son and the grandkids to a Dot Ice cream place. For what he paid for 3 small cups of dots we could have bought 4 gals of real ice cream!:RJust having a little fun,but do see your point. And No,Me and the D/W didn't buy any dots, due to the $$ it cost.

RE: Crossing A Line--$$$

For starters I'm in my early 50's.I do have a price in my mind as too what I'm willing to pay for certain things. It all comes down to supply and demand. My inlaws who are in their 70's see things differently than we do,especially when it comes to eating out.The max we paid for a C/G was $76 a night. And theres a few places that sooner or later we plan on visiting that charges $120 a night.Ouch!:EBut if we want too go to these C/G's that is the going rate.I kinda look @ it in a different light. Is it a vacation trip?Or is it a get away trip locally? We tend to spend more if its a vacation trip, which usually involves a week or more. When we buy groceries every week we watch the prices of things, and plan our meals accordly. But then again when we camp we usually splurge.I guess its all in how you look @ it.:)

RE: Myrtle Beach, and Sharks.

We go quite a few times too the beach, and we do swim in the ocean. The sharks have always been there and will always be.Ask one of the plane pilots that fly up the coast every day advertizing. On a clear day you can see quite a few sharks hanging out,and alot of them are in less than 5ft of water.I guess alot of folks just don't think about it.I know their there, but I still swim anyway.

RE: Galley sink smells

Its also possiable too have seperate vents, vented out up thru the roof.Could be a bird nest or dirt dobber nest clogging the vent on the roof.Just another thought if no studder vent.

RE: Galley sink smells

Had the same problem last summer. It was the studder vent under the kitchen sink that was open.Screw it out and replace with another one.I paid $1.75 for mine @ a camping store,so its sure not much too it.By leaving your valve open outside this lets the smell travel up thru your pipes, and out the bad studder vent.If you have water in the p-trap there should be no gas smell getting thru that way.
