RE: Driving with camper windows open?

I have found that windows closed and blinds/curtains drawn keep the camper cooler.

RE: What is the right way?

Since I don't usually use hookup sites, I choose my spot based on levelness. There is usually some variation. As for the toad, you'll want it in front of your MH so you can use it.

RE: clean motorhome with pressure washer

I've seen people accidentally strip their decals with a pressure washer.

RE: S & S Manufaturing ?

They've narrowed down their models to just one, the Ponderosa, but are still in business. Great product. Well built but heavy.

RE: dual pane windows & weight

mockturtle
how hard are they to disassemble? I don't know as I've never done it. But it's not something to worry about. Dual pane windows are worth getting, IMHO.

RE: NPS Sequestration. A reversal!

The major govt. departments were advised by the administration to make sequestration sound so draconian that everyone would blame one political party. DW and I worked for Uncle for years and in several different agencies/depts., and believe us, every govt. entity can suck up 5% in future budget cuts without affecting their core services, for example, the FAA and air traffic controllers. Every govt. entity is bloated.
Bingo!
Further editorial comment withheld at great personal effort and restraint. Amen!

RE: dual pane windows & weight

Salesman number one is trying to sell a product with dual-pane windows; salesman number two is trying to sell a product without. My Class C has dual-pane windows. I know they at least keep noise out and probably help with insulation, too. The only problem I know of with dual-panes is that they can fog up between the panes and require disassembly to repair.

RE: woman travelling alone

I think some of you have missed a salient point. A female traveling alone has more to be concerned about than robbery.

RE: woman travelling alone

As a female who travels alone, I have a three-tiered security system.
1. Early warning system (dog)
2. Strong deterrent (bear spray)
3. Revolver (not suitable for Canada, of course). I also have a concealed-weapons permit.
Most of the time I feel quite safe even though I often stay in deserted camp sites with no cellular signal. I love having a whole NFS loop to myself! As some have pointed out in other threads, you're probably more in danger on the freeway than in your camp.
I'd like to plan a trip to AK next year and am considering maybe traveling along with another female with her own rig just for safety and to share the experience.

RE: I'm Sleeping on the Ceiling Tonight

Bull snakes are BIG. While I'm not an ophidiophobe, I certainly wouldn't want to share my RV with snakes! Glad you survived the experience! (A tarantula in my rig would probably have put me over the edge).

RE: Pets are NOT to be left unattended... what??

I'm amazed how people can rationalize the rules to make themselves exempt and an exception to the rules. If it says "Dogs are not to be left unattended" it means don't go off and leave your dog unattended. How can you interpret it any different? The same way that people interpret the 'no alcohol' rule. :)

RE: How Much Stuff Do You Bring for a Weekend Trip?

I don't understand how you can get away from it all if you take it all with you! My needs are few, my pastimes simple and I load the RV accordingly. And, not only would I not cede them any of my space but I would probably move to another site, if possible.

I would take 395 to 95. Winnemucca has a couple of adequate RV parks for overnight.

RE: Trying to find our Battery disconnect Switch.

Mine is in the cab, on the door side below the driver's seat. It is a round knob. But, then, Born Free does a lot of things differently.

RE: Unwanted guests, lets hear your story....

One reason I don't make reservations, as I want to be able to leave on short notice if necessary. That's not always practical for most folks. I would have spoken with his parents. Surely they realize he is annoying people. At any rate, I would not put up with it.
One time the 'manager' of a small campground insinuated himself into our company and it became obvious he had some serious mental problems, like paranoid schizophrenia, for example. We would not have risked upsetting him but we took off early in the morning.

RE: Spiders everywhere

Those little spiders are probably hatchlings that will, in time, grow up to be big spiders. Spiders have their right and proper place but it doesn't include your RV. I would fog it.
