RE: My Montana got its long awaited TV

I don't know what they did to the steering geometry but it has a much shorter turning radius than the '06 did.
Randy
Randy-
The 450 has always had the "wide-track" steering which gives it better steering than a 250 or 350. Just look at where the front tires are on a 350 and then look at your 450. This wider stance allows a much shorter turning radius.

RE: Mobile Suites towed with short bed Dodge?

You really wont know if you don't look at the weights of several units ( go here and ope the 2010 weight pdf to see what they may be) MS Weights/url]and get the capacities for your truck. Check GCVWR, RAWR and the 5th wheel towing capacity PLUS your tires carrying capacity. In my opinion you are going to be close or over on RAWR or tires.
Will the MS clear the cab on a short bed? Yes except for extreme turns and then the slider should work.

RE: Registering Trailer in a State Other Than Actual Residency

Not only is it illegal but probably wont work since the new state will require him to show proof of address (just giving a PO Box as the address probably wont work). If Arizona finds out he did this he will be liable for fines and maybe jail time if they go after him.

RE: Do they make such a fifth wheel?

Look at the DRV 43' units. They will do some changing around for you, like swapping what's in each slide out. But they are costly, I'll warn you and you will need a BIG tow truck like a MDT.

RE: Eliminating new trailer smell?

That smell is the out gassing of the chemicals in the adhesives, carpet and paneling. The most effective way is to keep the unit open with fans going. Also heat will help with the out gassing so parked in the sun will help more than in shade.

RE: Redwood slide damage

I would explain to the OWNER, not sales people, that you will not take delivery of this unit. They have insurance for this and it should be returned to the factory and a new unit found for you. Take notice of the serial number in front of the owner and tell them that this unit will not be returned to you. Would you take delivery of an auto that the salesman ran into something and bent the frame on where the drivers door wouldn't open? It's the same thing here. I hope you didn't sign for it, if you did a lawyer will be able to clear things up - BUT do not move the unit if you have it, let the dealer come and get it.

RE: age

Since we aren't counting "as youngsters" nor "uncle sam's" paid vacations, my first camper I owned was in 69 when I bought a VW Safari and converted it to a camper. Wife and I went all over Europe for 4 years until I could afford a Chevy with a cab over camper (72). Then it's been off and on with campers and sailboats until '11 when we bought this Mobile Suites. Will be my last one, I'm afraid.
Oh, I was 23 at the time.

RE: 5 Gal or 7.5 Gal - Propane Question

FYI: you can get your tanks certified at "Amerigas" in almost any town, check white pages. They also will have 20, 30 or 40 lb. tanks available for sale.

RE: Who drives a F-350 as their sole vehicle and likes it?

For the past 2 1/2 years I have driven a King Ranch, heavy tow equipped, F-450 dually (it's bigger than the 350) as my only vehicle. Do I love it? No but I enjoy it. I take up the whole lane when I go somewhere. I take a parking space and a half when I park. I sit so high I look over almost all other vehicles except semis and buses.

RE: America's Mailbox ridiculous price increase!

I will tell you about my experience with A.M. I've been with them for over two years but in the last 7 or 8 months I've had problems with them. I have documented over $250 of ordered materials that failed to get delivered to my forwarded to address, I have $100 in checks come up missing and other items not sent (magazines, birthday cards, etc.). When I asked them about this they always tell me it not their problem, it's the USPS not delivering what they sent out. I ask if they had an internal auditing trail? HUH? was the response, what's that?? Then I was forwarded W-2's for several other mailboxes, again I questioned them about these and had they implemented auditing. No, we don't need it was the response. So I changed to another service that does do auditing and have been satisfied so far. USE AMERICA'S MAILBOX WITH CAUTION _ THEY"RE NOT RESPONSIBLE IF IT DOESN'T GET TO YOU! At least that's their response. Your experience may be different but that's mine!

RE: Newb question: Stranger approaches your RV

"I'm sorry, we don't use our bathroom but the bath house is right there." Then I'd get up go inside and lock the door, call the camp host and tell him what's going on.

RE: How And Where Do You Do Your Laundry?

Just throw it into the closet next to the bed, in less than an hour it's done. Why would I use a machine someone's dirty laundry has been in? I KNOW what's been in my machine.

RE: Slide blocks bathroom

I've never had to sleep while going down the road nor use the bathroom while on the road. I always pull off to use a restroom either in a rest stop, Micky D's or gas station SO I like the layouts of those units where you can't get to the bedroom or bathroom the best and that's what I buy. That's why they make so many different layouts.

RE: Not as perfect as it sounds?

I would also check to see if there are any RV parks that have any used park models for sale. I've seen some for around 10 - 20K. You can spend a little and fix it up. It will also have better insulation for the winter, already plumbed, set and hooked to everything. You can sell it in a year for about the same amount.

RE: Campfires: Love them or hate them?

I don't like campfire smoke. I've noticed fully 75% of the fires never have anyone around them just someone who comes around every 1/2 hour and throws wood on it. If I see one unattended I usually notify the camp host and let them deal with it.

RE: LOVE this new estates floorplan by DRV...

That's one of the worst layouts in the Estates line. The RSB or TKSB is much better layout. This one looks like a bowling alley with everything pushed to the outside.

RE: Locked power box at campground

We have stayed in several CG's where the gate is locked at a certain time until a certain time (11PM until 7AM comes to mind). We asked about emergencies and was told that the host or emergency vehicles had keys. Never had a problem so don't know, but seems they cured their thefts.

Of all the things to worry about, your zip code is, as I say - buried beneath the pile you left: paid for CG with CC, shopped and bought stuff in outlets with CC and paid for dinners.

RE: May want to stay away from this place

I can attest to the legality of a SDIT as I have done so for over 5 years. The organization I worked for gave me the training and paperwork for myself and every dog I trained had it's own paperwork and ID with it all the time. I have flown with 4 month old labs coast to coast, on buses, trains and stayed in hotels. It's a simple matter to just show the paperwork and hand them the ADA rules on SDs and SDITs. Never had any questions after showing the paperwork.
