RE: California State Park Workcamping
We did a stay at one of the river access points, caqn't remember the name but it was north of San Fran. We opened the gate at 0800 and clsed at 1700. In between we switched off on the access booth and at 1600 I would do a walk thru to gather trash. Actually it was a gulf cart with mounted trash cans. After closing we were all alone and had the river to ourselves for fishing. Good job!
Come on....try harder to remember....I need that name !!
I want that hosting position !! Come on...you can do it....
I got confidence in you !
RE: California State Park Workcamping
We volunteered 5 seasons at McGrath SB, Ventura. Good experiences, great folks to work with. Worked the kiosk and sold firewood. Nothing strenuous.
And now McGrath is closed due to budget cuts, I believe.
I stayed there 3-4 x, but don't like how far away the water is from the camp.
RE: MS Streets and Trips....GPS mode
I recently got the S&T 2011 version at Staples for $70 w/GPS. I love the ease of route planning without having internet.
My older Garmin Nuvi 205w does NOT allow routes to be transfered, only POIs. Newer Garmins (better ones) do allow tranfer of routes.
The turn-by-turn voice is weak coming out of the laptop, but I can plug my laptop into my Sony in-dash stereo, and the sound comes thru those speakers. Also, if I am using laptop for music, it will mute the music when directions are spoken. Its a checkbox in the 'tools', 'options' section.
Just need to use the cable that came with GPS receiver to get it out towards windshield to get satellite signal.
Sure works good for these old eyes.
