RE: Cold air intake water bleeder valve- Cummins 350 ISC

It should be between the fresh air intake and the air filter. If so, not a big deal, just another place to pull air in. That's exactly what I was thinking Don, just wanted to be sure.

Here's the part that I'm referring to.. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j55/mtrumpet/BLEEDERVALVE1a.jpg and here's how it was held in place (Gotta love it!).. http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j55/mtrumpet/HOLEWITHSEALANT1a.jpg

Cold air intake water bleeder valve- Cummins 350 ISC

The other day I went to bleed any access water that might have collected in my cold air intake after a long hard rain. Upon doing so, the rubber bleeder valve (as I refer to it) fell out into my hand. Upon attempting to re-install the bleeder valve, I discovered that the hole was actually cut too big, and the rubber bleeder valve was only being held in place by a glob of sealant! My questions is until I can do a proper "fix", can I run with this hole opened? Or, should I temporarily cover/plug it?

RE: the worse built motorhome you can think of

A lot depends upon how well it is taken care of too. A Prevost will eventually fall apart under your feet if it not taken care of.

RE: Water pump shuts off for several minutes then restarts??

To my understanding, there is a pressure switch incorporated in the pump head. When it senses a pressure drop, it activates the pump. When it reaches the preset pressure, it shuts the pump down. It sounds as if it may malfunctioning. Depending upon what make/model of pump you have, it may be a replaceable component. On the other hand, depending upon how much you use the onboard pump, it may just be more prudent to change out the pump for a new one. There are a few really good higher flow models now on the market.

RE: Can't fill gas tank in CA... nozzle won't fit into opening.

...and meanwhile, the OP is still in need of a good way to get fuel into his MH.... I suggest going online and searching "Gas Filler Extension", "Gas Filler Nozzel Extension", etc. There are several items that come up. Perhaps at the very least, may give you and idea for a DIY filler extension of some sort(?)

RE: Tire Pressure Monitor

For the money I found that the TST system was really worth the costs. You can look Hereand compare the systems they sell. The service they provide to me has been outstanding. Another vote here for the TST system.

I would try contacting the Lego folks directly.

RE: My wife can't decide, Please Help

Dinette for us. We like the ability to move the table and chairs around. Our table has an extra leaf that can be added as well as two extra chairs that fold and have their owne storage place in our rear closet. We had a booth in our previous MH, but for our needs we prefer the dinette.

RE: Replacing slide valve gaskets

OK. I spoke to someone at Valterra Products. (They were very nice.) It turns out that the gaskets are actually made from SANTOPRENE rubber. In basic terms, Santoprene is basically like a combination of EPDM rubber and Polypropylene. Valterra Products recommends the use of SILICONE LUBRICANT for these gaskets. I agree. Incidently, these seals are in fact not o-rings, but rather special seals made for that valve. Here's a link to their website if anyone is interested... Valterra Products, Inc.

RE: Replacing slide valve gaskets

I've found the company that makes (most) of these waste valves is Valterra Products. I've sent them an email asking the question. We'll see if they come back with an answer.

RE: Replacing slide valve gaskets

'O' rings are not rubber and Vaseline will not hurt them. Whaatt?? O-rings are not rubber?? Ooops, someone must've forgot to tell me. I've been designing O-rings and other seals (for Hydraulics and Pneumatics applications) for 30 years now. O-rings ARE in fact RUBBER. Unless they are of a special rubber compound used for special applications (i.e. EPDM rubber) Vaseline will not hurt them. Sorry-wasn't thinking that Buna N 'O' rings were rubber. What I tried to convey was Buna N (most 'O' rings)is OK with petroleum products. Yep. That's correct pkunk. Does anyone know off hand who the manufacturer of those valves is? I'd like to get a hold of them and ask directly as to what those seals are in fact made from. Even if they are not o-ring seals, I have to assume that they're still made from common nitrile rubber, but I'm curious to know (as I'm sure everyone else here might be) for sure. If I can speak to someone on engineered or technical, I might be able to speak "rubber language" a get a more concise answer rather than just "rubber".

RE: Front and Rear air pressure

If your one gauge is only reading 50 psi, then you would have one heck of an air leak! Simply, air up your coach, then shut it down and step outside and listen. You would/should hear an air leak that would be large enough to keep your gauge at 50 psi. You'd probably hear that even with the engine running. Having said all of that, and you now say that the problem sort of took care of itself for the time being, I'd say that it's more likely a gauge problem and not the actual air system.

RE: Motorhome headlights.

I bought mine on ebay for &110 they were 2000 Lincoln Ls. They work great. Shop around and you will be amazed at the different prices!!! Same here. Much less expensive than going to the OEM. Compared to OEM pricing, I (or in this case Snomas and I) each basically got ours at two for the price of one. Of course, you'll have to determine the cross reference to the headlights in your unit.

RE: Brand of CB you use and why

A hand held CB is a pretty lame alternative for a real CB. Maybe with a good antenna, it might work but the one I got, real quality unit from one of the best garage sales is pretty much a piece of junk. I have a Cobra Hand Held CB that might be good for 200 yards on a good day. Pretty worthless compared to a mounted unit such as the Cobra 29. Even hooked to a mounted antenna it is still very poor. I've know several that have had similar hand helds with much the same result. Good luck to you. I agree. When I bought my current MH, it came with one of those hand held units (Cobra). Worthless JUNK! In my previous gasser, I had a (mounted) Cobra CB - Model# Cobra 18 WX ST II. It had the speaker mounted on the face of the unit. It worked great! When i get a chance, I'm going to get rid of the hand held and try to get another of the Cobra CB's like I had in my previous unit.

RE: Bridgestone Tires?

I have heard in the past that Bridgestone is made by Michelin. Don't know how much truth there is to that but it came from a tire dealer when I was getting tires for an auto. Actually, it's FIRESTONE/BRIDGESTONE.

RE: Oil change

Given the evidence, I would say that the 10W-30 Synthetic is most likely what is in the motor now. It's most likely a 460 in that model year. It won't hurt it.

RE: Car dolly with the highest wt. carrying capability??

Want to tow 2007 Honda Odyssey but thus far only found Acme EZTow with enough wt. capacity. Those I found for Roadmaster and Kartote were weight limited for me. Would like one that has the wheels steer vice fixed. When I see statements like no U turns, 90 degrees max turn, etc. I hate to be that limited. Any other dolly suggestions? fighterpilota, Like you, when I started looking into towing my vehicle with a dolly, I ran into similar problems with weight ratings etc. When I did find tow dollies that were rated higher with regard to weight capacity, the price for the higher capacity dollies were comparable to the costs of setting up my vehicle to tow four down. Just something you may want to consider and compare.
