RE: Gen. charging TC batts and using boonie AC power?

I never use that small cable thingy, they mostly junk. I just plug my into my gen with the umbilical cord, shore power. I don't charge my starting battery that way but I do use it to charge the other three battery's. If you run your genset and plug into the shore power cord you can run what ever 110 volt stuff you have, within reason.
This is for only charging the TC battery's correct. If you have an A/C you will probably have to run it only on low setting, and cut out some 110v Equipment, or not start the A/C at all. Just want to make sure for my own information.
Thanks,
Scott
The genset will charge your battery's at the same time that you run your a/c but at a lower rate. For the most part if you run the a/c that is all your going to be able to run, assuming you just have a 2KW gen. If your gen has an econo mode it will automatically go to a higher rate. The other thing is at what altitude you are at. The higher the less out put.

I'd contact the manufacturer and see what they have for your rig. 2005 should have some kind of set up.

Gave the rig rig a good washing. I found my escape hatch cover cracked at four rivets. JB Weld to the rescue, maybe.

RE: Boondocking in Montana

Any ideas for dry camping in Wyoming, just south of the entrance into Yellowstone National park? I am towing a 21 foot travel trailer with a VW touareg 4x4, not looking for rough washboarded out roads, would be interested in 3 or 4 days of camping tops, near some fly fishing on the Snake River in Yellowstone for some day trips. Forest Service or BLM land would be great.
There is a road at Flagg Ranch it runs west into Idaho. There are three or four CG's out that road, that's it. There is nothing from YNP south of Jackson.
Is the side from Wyoming paved for a while? Pull off the side of the road and camp, or designated campgrounds?
If I remember correctly it is paved past Flagg Ranch then it is a nice gravel rd.

RE: Boondocking in Montana

Howdy boys,
I'm really liking the info that you are sharing. I have a question for you . I am planing a trip to Melrose Mt . We will be on a private ranch for a week than we have three night to fill before our reservations at the Madison campground in Yellowstone. I am lookig for a good boondocking camp for the three night transition. I'm pulling a 30' tt behind a 2500 4x4 Cummings. Not to sound greedy but I'm an avid fly fisher so a spot near some descent h2o would be great. Thanks for any help.
If you want to stay on the Big Hole, go up past Wise River about eight miles there is a BLM CG on the left named East Side I think. Anyway it's on the left. If you miss it and get to the intersection with the road to Anaconda turn abound and go back about a mile or so. Only fac. is a toilet.
If you don't want to that far, go to Divide cross the RR tracks then the bridge and on the left is a nice BLM CG

RE: Boondocking in Montana

Gosh, I have been boondocking in MT for the last five years. Especially around the area you are looking at. There is a dirt rd that runs from Twin Bridges over to Divide, there is plenty area to park for a night or day. There are numerous places around the Big Hole, you just have to look. There are several FS roads along the Gallatin Canyon that you can stop at. I have not found a place that I could not find a place to spend the night. Ruby Reservoir has a some nice shore line. In Ennis if you want to spend the night there is a parking area behind Town Pumps. Along the Madison the are several places that are BLM and FS that you can use some are free some have a small fee..
The same goes for WY and Idaho. Just get yourself a map and figure something out.
There are FS and BLM offices in West and Dillon, those folks are very helpful.
I have some that I use for days at a time while I'm fishing but I'm not gonna share. Sorry but I don't want them over run. Not sayin you would trash them but I have found you tell one, then they tell someone, well you know how it goes.

RE: Advice for traveling to Hiawassee, GA

19/129 to Blairsville is one of the most dangerous roads in N GA.
On that we disagree. Just drove it recently. Now if you want to talk I285 around Atlanta as being dangerous then .....:E
I know of six people that have been killed on that stretch plus hundreds more non fatal accidents. I only live 4 miles north of Blairsville and I'm thankful that my three kids survived their teenage years without an accident driving on it. It's better now (less traffic) as we now have a WalMart and do not have to go to Murphy. I agree it seems like a nice enough road, but it's been a real killer.
OP, drive the Class C.
Ivylog, I think you need to rethink your statement about 129 being on of the most dangerous. I worked for and with the Sheriff's Office for twenty years and 129 is no more dangerous than any other road
Your fear mongering.
My advise is to take 75 to 64 west to Hayesville then then south on NC state route 69 towards Hiawassee.
