RE: Confused

Happened tome once. I found I wasn't putting the bars in the same place as before. I wasn't pulling as much weight. Once I started pulling the same weight with the bars. The problems stopped.
Could you explain what you mean by pulling same weight? Are you refering to trailer weight?

RE: WD HITCH questions for new tt

I'm wondering that also. The OP doesn't give any weights or front end measurements
The new tt hasn't come in yet. I have 1200lbs bars still in there box. I had ordered them 3 years back, thinking we wouldgeta larger tt.

RE: WD HITCH questions for new tt

If you go to equalizer website there is a place to enter your weights and it recommends a size for you.
I did go to this site and they recommend the 1200/12000 model. Hard to agree with this.

WD HITCH questions for new tt

New tt is around 6700# max carrying capacity. Wanting to use Equilizer hitch with 800# bars but don't see them advertized. Is the 1000# weight a reasonable choice?
Has anyone used the E2 hitch? Seems to have same type of h bracket setup seen on Equilizer brand.

RE: WD size question

IMO, the 800# bars are the correct choice.
The TT dealer's feeling was wrong.
To get the correct amount of load transfer, you must apply the same amount of "tightness" to any WD bar regardless of its rating.
A 1200# bar will flex much less than an 800# bar and will impose a much greater additional load on the A-frame when the TV's rear tires go through a low spot.
Thanks Ron
I think you are right. New order, so don't have tt yet. WD is still in box, so hope I can sale it and get the lighter bars.

RE: WD size question

If it is 900 or more, you probably will be fine. Get it weighed.
thanks for your ideas. When we get the tt home and loaded, will weigh and go from there

WD size question

We just purchased a new Rockwood Ultralite tt with a dry weight of 5700 and a cargo capacity of 1025lbs. Getting the cart before the horse resulted in my buying a Equalizer wd hitch of 1200/12000lbs.
several years back when they were on sale. It's still in the box.
Questioning whether I should go for the 800 or 1,000lb. bars instead?
TT dealer felt that if I adjust the bars not as tight, the pair I have now would work fine.
Can one buy only the bars and have them fit the original hitch head I bought?

RE: Advice needed on two TT models

How about some GVWR numbers?
the 2604ws gvwr is around 6800 and the 25rlswe is around 7800 lbs. We tend to travel lite, so we feel these weights are doable. Most of our camping is done within 80 miles of home with flat terrain.

Advice needed on two TT models

We are trying to narrow down our decision to buy a new TT. the following two models are top of the list. Keystone Cougar half-ton 25 RLSWE and a Forestriver Rockwood ultra lite 2604WS
Any thoughts on the two brands and either TT. Positive, negative of either model? Will be pulling with TV in signature.
thanks for your help

RE: EB engine and gas mileage

I took TV back into ford shop and went for ride with service manager. The truck does not sound quite as v8ish as before but still not as smooth previously. We decided to keep eye on gas mileage and see what happens with that. Probably I should have pushed for more testing but didn't. Will see how it goes. thanks fro all your help.

RE: EB engine and gas mileage

thanks for all the ideas. The service rep said they only changed the oil, so it's hard to understand what caused the change in motor sound. I used the term ping because I was not sure how else to describe it. Someone mentioned flashing, does this require the truck to be attached to outside computer or does it only involve changing a control inside the cab?
taking the truck in on monday, will report back.
At what point does the turbo kick in? I though it was always running if you where moving down the roadi. Obviously, i know very little about the new systems and turbos

EB engine and gas mileage

I took my 2012 EB ford with 2800miles in to get first oil change and mentioned that gas mileage was not bad but low end of what was listed on window. He asked how much mileage was on the truck and when told the mileage seemed to imply that they could do something about it.
Oil was changed , ticket said nothing about adjusting the motor for fuel consumption. Noticed right away that truck ran noisy and when accelerating hard that there was an increased noise that never occurred before. Not sure how to describe it but sounded somewhat like pinging sound on older engines.
I called the shop back one day later and the service rep said nothing was done to the engine. Any idea what happened during the oil change and is it possible for them to place truck on computer to see if it had been adjusted?
Truck very quiet before, when idling or accelerating hard, so concerned that something is wrong? Taking it back in on monday.
