RE: Four Winds or Jayco Greyhawk

that's a lot of ching in my budget....it'll lose half it's value in a few years....I'd look at used....and if you have to spend that much a higher quality DP would be more worthwhile to me....theres a bunch of them out there.....just my 2 cents

Air fitting to to water supply to winterize?

Is there a fitting that adapts to a compressor nozzle and hooks up to the hose coupling to blow out your water lines before winter...or do I need to keep jerry rigging it with duct tape like I've been doing?...thank you very much

Propane detector.....reefer question...

2 questions for your consideration.....2000 23' Jayco eagle....Norcold refridge plugged into shore power...I was enjoying a beverage yesterday I hear the propane kick on...reefer set to Auto incase we lose power....we had now power loss...why would the propane kick in while plugged in?....is there something messed up with the reefer?...the wife thought that when the air is running on shore power she heard the propane kick on to the reefer...she remembers it doing so last year....she thinks it switches to propane due to the power draw of the air conditioner....is it possible she's correct....(lol)......next question...propane detector went off I hit reset...it remained silent since....Battery says charged on test panel so not low battery...do the detectors go bad or need replacing after 12 years?.....thanks for all your responses

Steering shock on V10 E350 chassis.....

Today I found that the steering shock (not sure what it's really called) on my E350 Ford V10 was leaking oil....I'm assuming it's junk....how essential is it?.....heading on a 1500 trip Friday....doesn't look hard to swap out....is it an easy to find part.....who would have them and what do they cost....can I wait until I come home from the trip or is it an essential fix...thanks for your help and input....

RE: I put the Hellwigs on front and back today....

Both sway bars were about $520 shipped....I just drove it around the block....it seemed to be a better ride....haven't really gone anywhere since last fall, so it's hard to remember how she handled....as far as sagging on entry I'm sure it won't take care of all the problems but it has to help...be able to give you more feedback later....headed to Canada for 5 weeks the 14th....good luck

I put the Hellwigs on front and back today....

Gosh darn it...that rear one is heavy.....front went on in about an hour....piece of cake....rear not so good....Jayco decided to mount the house on mounts that half covered the holes the sway bar was supposed to use...and the Ford hole was only like 3/8" not 1/2"...drilling them out was a bugger...and because the thickness of the house mount....the bolts on hanger from Hellwig were too short...had to take those in get them ground off and re welded with longer bolts....coulpe other small issues but I finished 7 hours after I started....the bride was a big help....just a little crabby because of the 90 degrees....but she got to learn all about sockets and fractions and 1/2" and 3/8" drives....lol...test drive seemed to handle better....$500...not to bad

Newmar Mountain Aire owners....

Hello...I'm looking at a 2004 Mountain Aire....it's 40' with a 400hp cummins....the owner is widowed and is having a hard time answering some of my questions...I want to know how many airbags in the suspension....she says its a freightliner air ride suspension but doesn't know the number of airbags....she said it had a 3 stage Jake brake...is there such a thing?....I've heard of 2 stage....would you happen to know if it would have the side radiator too....did all the Mountain Aires of 2004 only have the 2 door fridge/freezer or could you get one with a 4 door model....also was the basement freezer an option or come with most Mountain Aire's...thank you very much for your answers....any thing else you can inform me about Mountain Aire's greatly appreciated

Ballpark $.00 for a 40' DP tires set of six?

Hello...it's me again....what is the dollar cost of a new set of tires on a 40' DP....a range of cost would be great from good to top of the line tires....would YOU....automatically put new tires on a coach that's 8 years old with only 26,000 miles on it....I know it sat in a florida RV park for 5 years when in use and a storage place down there when they weren't using it.....second question...how often do you have to do a brake job on a 40 footer and what's a brake job run?...continuing my research....thank you very much for all your help.....your insights expertise and commentarygreatly appreciated....thanks Pond

Used DP options

Hello...still investigating used DP's...would like to know about some options I see listed....some have Air conditioners with heat pumps...can you describe how they work and the advantages and disadvantages....leveling jacks...is there a system that shines above the others....I see HWH listed sometimes...what do you think of them?....whats a blue ox tow bar worth and are there different quality levels of those as well....double pane windows....read some posts that say some years and coach builders had trouble with them...what years and what models....single and two piece windshields...is that just astetics?.....fiberglass roofs as opposed to others (rubber I'm assuming) what the upgrade worth?...thank you all for indulging my questions and all the answers I've received....to be continued I'm sure...

RE: Leveling a motor home

I would find a level parking surface somewhere that you can double check with your 4' level....then mount your new stick on levels...I use a small circular bubble level I place on the counter or stove top...then when I'm level I put it back in the drawer...mines only 23' so I can level it pretty close by eye...then just drive it in blocks if it's a little off level...hope this helps
