RE: He wants/She wants

When we purchased our Fiver, there were two rigs with the same floor plan but one had the interior decor colors SHE wanted with a manual awning and the other had a slightly different color scheme with a nice electric awning and wind sensors. Well....you guessed it, I have the manual awning but the good news is she is warming up to the idea of replacing with an electric. :W

RE: 2009 Cyclone 3914 How Are They ???

At first we had some issues as with ay new rig but haven't had any problems since other than things that were my fault. We are very happy and would not hesitate to buy another. I have added an automatic leveling system and a satellite dish this year so I think we'll keep it for a while longer.:)

RE: Anybody use SPADE-L rub?

Here is the link to their home page. The store list in "where to buy" is more than 10 years old but most of the Albertsons listed are still open. It also looks like there is a link to buy direct. Sounds like I need to get some too. http://www.spadelranch.com/spadelranch/wheretobuy.htm

RE: The new RZR...

$22K you could buy a nice Toyota 4x4 thats street legal X2...If you compare to what you get with an automobile for that price it is insane!

RE: Can height of 5th wheel be much of a problem?

Yes......! I found out how much a new roof on my fiver costs because of a Magnolia tree. A low branch caught the vinyl roof and ripped it back 14 feet. I never even felt it. :S ouch! Did the insurance cover it? Yes fortunately it was covered. Because of the size of the damaged area they had to replace the whole roof at a cost of nearly $8K, I don't think they would do it again.

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

The sat domes a great, installed mine a couple of months ago. One push of a button and in a few minutes you have TV, can't beat that. Had a great weekend it the dez, time to leave and the landing gear wouldn't come up evenly. The left leg would hesitate/stop, but finally got it to come up enough to get it home. Took out the gearbox/motor and left leg. Gearbox good, motor good, leg not so good, missing chunks out of the gears. Took leg down to a local RV shop and had them rebuild the leg, also bought a new gearbox made out of aluminum instead of plastic. Ordered a new switch to replace the one which is currently only held in by the silicone as all of the screw tabs are cracked and broken. Will lube up the right leg and hopefully will have another few years of service out of the landing gear. Hey River and Sand....Sorry to hear about your landing gear. I changed mine out for an independant leveling system but kept the old ones. They are Lippert and work fine. You are welcome to them if you like. I live near Temecula. If interested send me a PM.

RE: Sofa bed air mattress

If you are leaving the air mattress on the sofa when you fold up the sofa, we found that when it was folded, some of the air mattress got caught in the frame of the sofa creating a small leak. got a new mattress and now we take it off the frame when we fold up the sofa. When ours failed, the dealer said the mattress should be stored in a box when not in use and not folded up in the couch. I told him it was on the couch when he delivered to us new!:M

RE: How to level a 5th wheel?

Do not use jacks on rear of 5er to level you can damage or bow your frame. These are to stabilize and minimize shaking only. After leveling with boards under wheels and front jacks are down and truck is disconnected then just snug them up enough to stabilize. And don't forget to "chock" the wheels before you disconnect your truck.

RE: What did you do to your Toy Hauler today???

Although I said I never would, we purchased an automatic roof mount satellite dish with Dish network service. It really is nice when the weather is not so great or when you just want to catch up on the news. Camping World had it on sale and my local "Giant RV" matched the price for the unit and the installation. FYI Dish has an RV package that allows month to month service with no start up fee. You can stop and restart at any time. Very Cool

Death Valley Camping

Thinking of camping at Death Valley over spring break. We have never been there and would like some recommendations for camping and riding. We prefer to boondock, dont necessarily need a campground. I've seen pictures of people camping amongst huge rock formations and beautiful desert but it doesn't mention where they are exactly. Thanks for you input.

RE: UTV's and helmets

I don't mind wearing a helmet, it's probably a good idea. I just don't like being told I have to. IMHO....

RE: 2008 Weekend Warrior CR3705 Landing Gear Issues HELP plz

Hello Joe, Take a look at the Rieco Titan Ground Control system. It replaces the front landing gear with two independant jacks and also has rear independant lifting jacks to complete the job. Each jack is controlled individually with a wireless remote so you will not tweek your frame. (First level front to back and then side to side.) Each jack is capable of lifting 5K# and can lift your rig off the ground. (tire change). You mentioned you are mechanically inclined, I had mine installed but after seeing it done I should have done it myself. Got it online for under $2200 delivered to my door. Absolutely love em. PM me if you have any questions. www.riecotitan.com/groundcontrol

Water hose

Does anyone know of a good water hose that is easy to roll up and put away even in cold weather? Also is there a superior sewer hose and fittings out there or are they all pretty much the same?

RE: My New Toy Hauler

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum wanted to officially say "Hi". I've been renting for a while but finally bought a shiny new Eclipse Attitude FGG23. It came down to either the Eclipse or a Shockwave. The Shockwave was a little more expensive but came with an onboard generator. The Eclipse came with a portable generator but has the Fiberglass sides. In the end, I chose looks over convenience...LOL. Took it out this weekend and so far so good. Portable generator is a pain though, but I think I'll get used to it. Nice looking rig. Congratulations! By the way where was that picture taken? Looks interestin. http://www.meetthenguyens.com/Photos2012/November-2012/Thanksgiving-with-new-Toy/26855590_mbJ46c#!i=2249877510&k=C6LdxVW&lb=1&s=S

RE: DW's trike bounced on top of a 4x4!!!

You need to tie down the rear axle instead of the rear chassis. If this is too difficult, consider using a wheel net tie down. X2.......In your hauler (like mine), the garage is behind the rear axle exagerating the action of the woop d do's. My Arctic cat "walks" against the wall unless I tie the AXLE to the floor instead of the frame of the car. That way the frame and body can bounce up and down but the wheels are tied tight to the floor and won't move. Luckily in my case the only damage was to an inexpensive mini blind covering the window.

RE: New Polaris RZR ?

Google AB1595 and you'll get your answers. I could tell you where/why it all came about but that would be life threatening information (ie I'd have to kill you). Who is behind Mr. Cook and why? I've got to know...You can kill me later.

RE: Where are you going for Thanksgiving?

Were you on the S22 side ? Glad to see they are actually spending some of our money on US. Sure wish they would add some some showers to the S 22 side for MDW. We were camped about a mile from the Blue Inn and rode the Cross Over Trail to S22 and into Truckhaven. The Restrooms I mentioned were out on trails. They were nice clean buildings with toilets and paper only, no water. Still a nice improvement. So as planned we went to Ocotillo for Turkey day and had a absolute great time. Cooked 4 Turkeys and sat down with 26 family and friends in the middle of the Desert in November in Shorts and T shirts??!! Had perfect weather for six days. Went riding every day in some areas of the park we had never been to before. It was nice to see they have installed nine new restrooms on trails throughout the park and have added several new trails with markers every 1/10th mile. Each wash, cross road and trail has new road signs clearly naming the trail you are on and each area of interest has an information marqui with free maps and info. If you get lost out here now maybe you should stay in camp. The rangers had exhibits set up at various locations ie. Pumpkin Patch, Gas Dome, Shell Reef etc. showing the history of this area millions of years ago. There was the skeleton of a giant walrus from when the area was a sea and the skull of a giant sloth with armor plates from when the area was a swamp as recently as 10,000 years ago. Hard to believe this desert looked like a Louisiana swamp at one time. Anyway, we had a great time with family and friends and I cant wait to do it again for New Years. We'll be Camping in Bull Head and riding to Oatman and then on to Superstition for 4 more days. Can't wait.
