RE: Satellite tv advice

I have seen the tailgater work and was impressed. Plug a cable into it, toss it on the ground aimed somewhere near the southwest, and watch tv. It doesn't get any easier than that. I also saw the dtv and wasn't impressed as it required a second cable to move the dish and the one I saw didn't work well at all. As for programming available, I am not sure but I don't believe there is much difference except you can't do he with the autodish, just with a regular dish that requires aiming.

RE: Too few bolts in frame brackets - Should I be worried

Some of the bolts go through the bed channels where spacers are suppose to be installed to keep the channel from collapsing. If they didn't put in all the, did they put in the spacers? These are very important to assure that the bolts don't loosen. Something to think about.

RE: Buying an RV from Dealer vs Private Owner

I know that auto dealers often take cars to auction that they feel could be a problem child. So does anyone know if the same applies to rv dealers, or do they sell them all good or bad off their lot?

RE: Can I replace a 30A plug with a 50A?

Something is going wrong that's for sure. My trailer is 16 years old and has the original plug. It might be time to have a professional check out your setup. JMO

RE: Will the "Cube" pick up Direct TV HD?

I was at a large well know TV and audio store here in Portland Oregon and spoke with the owner about a portable automatic dish that picks up Direct TV HD and he told me that his Cube works just find. I was told at Camping World that there is no portable dish that will pick up Direct TV HD and that I had to get one that mounts to the roof of the RV. I am wanting a portable as we are in the trees quite a bit.
Have you considered a tailgater with Dishnetwork? A friend of mine has one and it seems to work well.

RE: wireless backup camera

I have had the Peak backup camera for a few years now and it works flawlessly. I suspect that many don't know how to hook them up properly. I would suggest you go with the largest monitor you can find. The 7"monitor works well. Model number is PKCORC.

Sorry about you situation, but at least you are headed in the right direction. Don't forget to have them put on metal valve stems for use with the TPMS I am sure you ordered also.

RE: New TT, CO2 detector keeps going off?

If the alarm is going off, DO NOT take a chance as CO is undetectable by smell and deadly. My first stop would be at Home Depot to get a decent detector with a readout. That way you can see what the levels are. Kidde makes a nice one. Stay safe.

RE: Tpm

Tiretraker here but from what I gather they all seem to work well. I bought this unit for price and ability to change batteries though I haven't had too yet and had it for couple of years. Its just like Mastercard. Don't leave home without it.

RE: China Bombs Got Me

The NEED for TPMS is due to lack of operator responsibility as it relates to safety issues…
The ruling requiring them is to replace that lack of operator responsibility…
There are no RV specific studies that have been done, but you can expect the results would be worse, as when they are unused, unseen, they are largely forgotten, and long periods of time and just sitting can add to the under inflation problem…
That said TPMS are a good tool in the arsenal available to us and they do what the operator can’t while in motion… that is a good thing for sure…
They still address only the air pressure, and only when in use…
RV’s and especially trailer tires require more attention not less and not attention to air pressure only…
Nothing scientific here, but my own observations and in talking to TPMS users, and reading different forums about them confirm that they promote less and fewer normal and visual inspections of our RV tires…
It is my opinion that no matter what type you use or how well they work, this is over reliance on them and is counterproductive…
Alarming a loss of air from a tire that has cracks in between the treads is help to late… cracked rubber valve stems are damaged from the outside and often visible and repairable before leaking begins… bulging sidewalls can often be seen and repaired before the tire blows out taking the underside of the trailer with it…
I am not being critical of the TPMS or its value…
I am being critical of the belief and often expressed idea that these things are the answer to our tire problems and overstating their value…
I have pulled trailers with and without a TPMS and I can tell you I will never go without again. I agree that you should inspect your tires reularly, but doing that would not have helped when I picked up the 3" long bolt in my tire. Thankfully I had a monitor and was able to fix the problem BEFORE several thousnad dollars in damage had occurred. You can check and inspect your tires all you want and it wont help you one iota when you pickup something from the roadway.

RE: Lock your gas tank

It was not exactly rationed, but due to the long lines, at least in our area, odd number plates filled up on odd number days and even number on even.
And they limited how much you could buy.

RE: China Bombs Got Me

Reporting a tire failure and any damaged caused by it, in itself, answers nothing.
The accusations far outweigh the known causes of RV trailer tire failures.
Tread separations are high on the list of known failures. However, the cause of the tread separations are not investigated. The most common causes for tread separations are low air pressure - overloading - and excessive speed. If a poster can verify without a doubt that none of those conditions ever existed with their tires than why did they not turn the tire in for expert examination? Until a valid reason for the tread separation is determined the complaint is just another unsubstantiated accusation.
Remember, even though an owner currently maintains their tires within the parameters needed to achieve an expected life expectancy, it may not be attainable. Tire damage is cumulative and unforgiving. Past damage - even though unseen - ultimately takes its toll in the end.
Well I know what my trailer weighs and have the scale tickets to prove it. I don't travel over the tires limits and you will need to take my word on that and finally because. I have a TPMS as I suggested earlier in the thread, I know that the air pressure wasn't low. So that leaves the China bombs as I have not had tire problems since changing to Maxxis tires. But I still say the best money you will ever spend is on a TPMS

RE: Reserve America magazine scam

I guess you missed my RA scam post about a month ago. Call them and get it taken off. Also contact the attorney general for your state. The only way we can defeat these bottom feeders is to bring to the light of day, as they are much like vampires and don't do well in the light. Good luck.
BTW don't listen to the ones who will be here shortly saying its your own fault for not reading and understanding everything on the web page, as they will be the same ones who will be here crying and whining when it happens to them.

RE: Use of Cinder Blocks

I would use 6"by 6" treated wood. If you go to Home Depot you cab buy a length and have them cut it into whatever lengths you need. This stuff will last two lifetimes.
