As usual,we've received some great ideas. We've stayed at Wright-Patterson AFB before (they have a nice RV park) and spent two days exploring those museums, so we'll skip that for now. The Amish area in Ohio sounds interesting and we may re-route ourselves to see that area.
I'm really intrigued by US 30 in PA. We've seen the Pentagon Memorial but this would be our chance to see the memorial for Flight 93. I think that's something we are definitely going to do.
I want to thank all of the posters on this forum. When we were towing our 36' fiver posters on this forum kept us out of trouble more than once. We also saw some amazing sites that we might otherwise have missed were it not for the suggestions we received on this website. We are no longer RVing and this is our first major trip without being able to take our "house" with us. I miss that a lot, but we don't miss towing over the bad roads with crazy drivers who don't seem to understand that you can't stop or swerve as easily as you can in a car.
Safe travels. MaryAnne
We're driving from Michigan to Washington DC on 8/21. We won't be towing this time, but have to arrange our arrival in DC for after 6 PM. We usually take the Turnpikes, but because we have ample time to make the drive we thought it would be fun to stop and see some sights we don't normally see. Since we're not towing, we can take roads and routes that would be a challenge with the fiver behind us.
We've been to Gettysburg several times--the only place that jumped out as us as we plan our trip. If any of you have some suggestions as to alternate routes we can take that would take us through some scenic areas we'd love to learn about them. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. MaryAnne
We were getting ready to trade it in and DH did some work on the closet floor (rather close quarters as all of you know) and he bumped the glass with his knee pads. It was the first time in the 9 years we've owned it that we've damaged the doors. We offered to adjust the allowance on the trade to account for the cost of replacing the door, but the dealer didn't seem to be very worried about it and gave us what had been agreed upon.
