Got up here today about 11:00. Dry roads all the way, but still a 'winter wonderland' in the higher elevations.
Lows are KKKKKold, I'm told. We'll see tonight.
Almost no snow left here in the valley however. It was hot here this afternoon. Hopefully spring has sprung, now.
Now to get this joint organized and cleaned up a bit. lol I left it in a bit of a mess when I left before. Have a good flight.

The weather got nice yesterday, actually got into the 60s F., so most of the snow melted.
The PU is loaded for my seasonal 'move'. I don't know why I'm taking so much stuff with me, but the truck is full. lol I'll be heading up later this morning.... it's still the middle of the night here. So the next time I'm on RV.net, I'll be up there, and hopefully settled for part of the summer.
I'm hoping this is the last of the winter for us. I've had enough snow and cold for this year!
Hope everybody is done with the 'polar camping'.

Anyone doing anything after the Expo? I should go see a friend in Phoenix but I want to hit Moab on the way home and do a trail or three!!!
Sounds great DJ - though we've rented the wrong vehicle for that :( - if only I had my own truck camper with me.
We will be heading sort of in the direction of Mesa Verde and then back to Denver for the following weekend - but we are completely flexible.

Here's a link the website where my Doghouse is located. As you'll see it's not the luxury resort. But Water, Sparks (if we run a cord), dump station. You would be my guest. Only guests and owners allowed as it's a private concern. Not a daily rental CG.

Offer stands for Nathrop Colo. IF you're coming down Colo 285 out of Denver. It's roughly 3-3.5 hours down the road from DIA (airport). Up to 28' length. OR if you prefer, there's 2 campgrounds there, one is at the turn off to my park, the other is at Johnson's Village 6miles north of me (KOA).
I also know of several spots to Boondock if you are interested. Places I could take my 28' class C if I wanted.
Here's a link to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. I haven't been there in several year, however.

Wow Union pass with a trailer, never would have thought. It's been more years than I thought. But then Pinedale has gone thru major changes since we lived there, that was in the 70's/80's,where has the time gone, god I'm getting old, lol.

OP; Don't know if it's still true but we used to camp right by the streams all over Wyoming. More lately I did notice that Teton Nat. park has a few NO signs.
Also... I expect you are aware of the 'Weed Free Certification' needed for Nat. Parks and Nat Forests. Might want to make sure where and if that is an issue.

I tell you what its abit scary out there. You cant hear anything for the ocean/gulf slapping up on the beach and not a light in sight anywhere...
We were just hanging out real late on the Pensacola beach area pretty late. Then we saw a light coming at us along the water side - kept getting closer and closer.. Turned out to be the police patrol... I decided it was time to get back to the hotel haha...

Years ago, I knew a couple who went boondocking somewhere down by Padre Island . They said their only issue (not a large one however), was that they had to move every two or three weeks. Don't remember which it was.
They got acquainted with the Ranger, and kept a bottle in the bar for him. Said he didn't make them move anymore, since the location of the bar was needful. lol
They were customers on my USPS route and I've lost touch with most of my old friends on the route since I retired 4 years ago.
Sounds like there's a big difference in 'custody' of beaches between the two areas? I'm interested as I may want to follow suite myself.

Take your essentials from tenting along.
Battery? Make sure you have a 'hot' wire on your tow vehicle, to charge the battery while you drive.
You'll figure out the amenities you want to add over time.

Oh,, and check the tires. Make Damn sure they are good,, might want a spare too.

Cottonwood Pass will no doubt be closed in May. That's the road to Buena Vista from Taylor Park. Tin Cup will be snowed in too. That is the one going east from the Trading Post,,, goes to St Elmo.
I've camped on the east side of the river just above the Reservoir, and also on the east side of the road, north of the creek that comes in from the east. There used to be a pass that went over from there as well. Not so much anymore at least for a mild mannered 4x4 PU.
If you are going to a campground,,, I like the one on the south end across the road from the 'marina', since I prefer the shade in the trees. But then again I don't go in May, it'll probably still be cool then, and you'll want/need the sun?
I'll be over by the Arkansas River @ Nathrop, (8miles south of Buena Vista) by then. If you are over by Nathrop, and if I'm there,,, I can help you out with fresh water. I've got to be present however, as it's a private CG. As my Guest water and sewer are available.... PM me if you're in the area.
I heard yesterday that the ice is coming off Antero Reservoir over in South Park already. Hmmm If you want to come over there in May you'll need to come over Colo 50 (Pagosa Springs) or I 70 and then south through Leadville on Colo 24.
That time of the year only I70, hiways 50, 24, & 285 are kept open all winter. Also the hiway from Gunnison to Taylor,,, don't remember the #, right now though. IIRC

well, we did find a leak after smelling the propane today...it was a connector.
It was definitely a propane smell. I am just running it on pilot tonight. To tell you the truth, I hate burning propane in our motorhome. It scares me, so I vent a couple of windows and the bathroom vent too. I turned on the propane burners on my stovetop, and turned up the heater and asked my husband "what is the difference??? I'm not supposed to use the stovetop for comfort heating, how can I use THIS? I really don't understand. The guy who sold it to us said we don't need to open a window. I really think he's wrong.
The only way you don't need to open a window is if you want your 22 seconds of fame........ in the obituaries.
You can't fix stupid. And that guy qualifies.
Most heaters even have an operator's section that tells you how many square inches of opening are needed, and how to do it.

ATM,,, best suggestion is. Bring heavy sleeping bags, extra propane, and maybe a snow shovel.....

Must haves would be water and food (including coffee). A shovel and some TP.
A battery is nice but not a must have. Less so a generator.
And perhaps a bottle of Jack #7.
Optional Fly Rod, fly box, and waders.

Couldn't afford the big 50' unit. I have a simple 18' TH for me and the kids. I guess I picked a rich person's pass time:(
You don't have to be rich. But I bet it'd help...... However, you can build a 'sound suppresser' box for not a lot, and do a better job than the same size Honda, me thinks. Do a search in the DIY forum. You don't have to spend $3K, heck you can probably get it done for less than $50.:)

When I was a dirt camper, fly fishing on the McCloud River in Northern California for the October Caddis hatch for trout, we had a couple of drunk dudes pull into the campsite next to us around 2 AM in the morning, spill out of their truck and talk drunken trash for a half an hour nice and loud, while they set up camp in the dark. They were from San Francisco... fwiw...
We asked them politely the first time to keep it down, and turn off the tunes, then not so nicely the second time. Our words fell on deaf ears.
Not a problem... I got up at 6 AM, and fired up my 2003 Dodge Cummins right next to their campsite, and let it warm up so the cab would be nice and cozy once the bacon, eggs and coffee were finished being eaten and dished cleaned up.
Shut the motor off, then sat outside the truck and had a nice long discussion /argument about where we were gonna fish on the river that morning, add in a little flatulence, then played with my buds Queenshealer with fetching and barking... Around 7AM, we were ready to do the triple S's and brush our teeth. About that time, we turned on the radio with the doors open to hear the news and weather report on the AM radio.
Got back to camp just in time for lunch, and as we were going out to fish the afternoon hatch, the other friendly campers picked up camp and moved about 51 spots down. I guess they didn't like the smell of fresh diesel fumes in the morning?
Retribution is a MF. And it sure beats having to use a baseball bat on side of their Drunken Heads! lol
You can BET that they are hung over in the AM, as well. Way too much fun.
Makes you wish for a Contractor's Genny, for the morning Coffee, don't it?

Randy @ Best did it again. I sent my friend and neighbor from the Chateau to Best Converter. Jim talked to Randy and then ordered it on line. It showed up last week as promised.
Good stuff.
The only deduct is that they all have a battery charger. He didn't need one because he is always on 'shore power'. Randy said, don't worry just don't hook them up. Works good and doesn't have to maintain the batteries anymore.
The funny part is his back up power 'Genny' has never had any gas in it! Most of the Rv's here in the Chateau, don't ever move so it's a bit different than most. lol
Stuck on the Arkansas River. It's a tough situation but someone has to enjoy it!

No we never idle the engine all night.
If the truck doesn't start calling for help could be interesting.
We never park by big rigs for sleeping.
Ever wonder why less than half of the big rigs parked in any overnight lot, idle there engines.
As the economics of trucking gets to the drivers idling trucks will go away. Old habits are hard to break.
Meanwhile this is for me.
