RE: Fifth Wheel Clearance

I'm looking at the QBUD, what are your impressions of the RV as far as fit/finish/quality?

Any opinions or reviews of Forrest River 346QBUD?

We had such a great time with our TT last year (8k miles and 30+nights) that we are considering upgrading. We have to have bunks, and although my wife prefers the Jayco 324TBS, I am keenly interested in the 346QBUD 5'er. The problem is I can't find many consumer reviews of the RV. Does anyone here have any experience with the QBUD or the Heritage Glen line? I like the capability that the 5'er adds (storage, grey tank capacity) - but can't say that I have ever had a sway or parking problem with our TV/TT setup. Opinions are welcomed!

RE: KC RV Show 17-20 Jan

Usually they are available from area RV dealers. Yup that's the show! I'll check with Trailside RV, we went there to look at their Jayco 324BTS. I noticed they have a LOT of floor space reserved so maybe they'll have something.

KC RV Show 17-20 Jan

All, I'm super excited about the KC RV show coming up. Any ideas where I could find coupons for reduced entrance fee for me and e family? Does anyone have any tips from last year?

RE: Has anyone found the PERFECT bunkhouse?

One feature we were very concerned about was the bathroom being close to the bunks. Our little kids (3 & 1) would likely wake at every toilet flush if the bath was too close to the bunks. The used Jayco we got has the bathroom up front (away from the bunks) and also the way the tub is positioned means we have a TON of floor space in the bathroom to give the kids a bath. Check out 29FBS, it's a nice floor plan.

RE: I can't believe it.... What horrible luck.

It's horrible you have had such a run of bad luck, but things can be replaced - people can't. I don't care if it was the trans or engine, thankfully you're kids are okay and your son was so quick to help! I have faith, things will turn around for you, just remember - tough times don't last, tough people do.

Jayco thermal window question

I'm looking at the 2013 Jaycos and they have the thermal window option with heavy tint. Does anyone have any experience with them? Given my recent experiences, our love for camping and the fact that 115 degree temps kept us from camping I'm leaning towards considering them a necessity but would like to hear from someone with experience. I searched the forums and most talk seemed to circulate around dual pane windows in 5ers, and dual pane isn't in the Jayco TT lineup that I can see.

RE: Gray water tank 1 and 2

On mine it's #1. It should be the grey valve release closest to your shower.

RE: Steep Grades for towing TT

Worst % I've seen was 19% grade in Branson Missouri, and by far the worst hill was a 15% grade over 4 miles on a washed out dirt road without guard rails and only 17 feet wide (people were coming up and going down!) it was a forced evac route due to closed highways to get out of Colorade Springs this past week because of their fire problems. 4WD was required, it was terrifying!

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

all tis being said, my point was that the OP was misunderstanding the meaning of the words "polar package" It was not something that would lead to his TT being able to shed the HEAT, it refers to the plumbing insulation package (and sometimes tank heaters) that allow him to use his trailer when it is COLD OUTSIDE. Nah, never thought polar meant it'd shed heat, I guess because I mentioned it you thought it. It's merely an enclosed underbelly on mine, nothing more, nothing less. Regardless, I think the next time I RV in 110+ temps I need another AC unit or some shade. You two were entertaining though in your debate....lol.

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

Yeah, in the 90 degree temps I have no problems; it's just once I got in the hundred-teens....

RE: Reese Dual Cam and New TT

I too have the DC but have to use a 3 pound sledge hammer to get the bars off the cams. I think the cams are adjusted too tight and are binding on the 'u' at the end of the trunion. Does anyone else have this problem? The TT tows like a dream, tracks straight as an arrow on the highway and in winds, and yes makes pop noises while turning. You probably have 1200 lb bars. The issue with some of them is the crook is pinched slightly wider than the cams. Simply take a grinder and touch up the sides of the crooks, little spray paint and your issue goes away. Thanks! You're right, it's the 1200 bars...I'll look at the edges to see if that's it next time I'm out. Thanks for the note!

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

A properly running a/c should give you a 17-21* cross temperature. Meaning there should be a temp difference of you supply air and return air of that. I've been here in Salt Lake City for the last seven days, a ew days over 100*, and my 25' fiver has been a cool 72* consistently, with full sun on a least one side all day. Agree. My AC was piping air at least that cold outof the vents; the problem is the AMOUNT of cold air (capacity) was not enough to overcome the lack of insulation and built up heat in the TT from driving all day. I think 5'ers generally have better unsulation than an aluminum sided 8 year old TT.

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

It gets to 113 degrees in Kansas at NIGHT???? My god what must it be during the day? By the way, what do you do in a campground when it's a 113 degrees,,, at night?? Heck, what do you do at home when it's 113 degrees?? I know my house AC could never keep up at those temps. Where do you find enough electricity to keep everything running at those temps??If it ever got that hot around here the electrical grid would crash, the livestock would all die, the crops would wither, and people would be dropping like flies. The stock market would crash, and people would be jumping out of windows. And, this could happen some day by the way. We were fleeing the Colorado wildfires and heading home. It was 113 as we were driving, and stayed that way until the sun went down at 7pm. Once the sun set the RV cooled down to a reasonable temp. What did we do while the RV was cooling? We went to Wally world!

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

I guess there are simply too many variables to get a good answer, shade, cubic feet of the RV, altitude, number of slides, size of windows, direction you're pointing in the RV, and insulation are all important. It's too varied to determine what 'normal cooling effect' is which is what I was looking for.

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

I was just in Colorado Springs, and before Waldo fire forced our evacuation, it was still pretty warm up there. I wonder why running AC from a generator is dumb? To me, comfort of kids equals DW happiness.

RE: Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

This experience was in Kansas, and the RV park had no shade. Since its a TT without a generator, it got hot inside the TT over our 7 hour trip. The AC was blowing out really cold, it just couldn't get the unit to cool down, then in the morning when the TT was cool and we were prepping to leave we watched the indoor/outdoor thermometer steadily climb but staying 14 degrees different. Thanks for the advice though, I'll look into the thermo window stuff and also what it'd take to get a second AC unit, maybe even look at a generator in the bed of the truck to run the AC as we roll down the highway - or just not camp in triple digit temps again.... :(

Temps up, how cool can you get inside?

I've got a 2007 Jayco 29 FBS with the polar package (enclosed underbelly and I guess increased insulation) and on our last trip the coolest I could get it was 14 below ambient outdoor temps which was 113 last night. With two young kids,99 degrees inside doesn't work too well with DW. So, my question is - is this normal? I'm looking at a new 2013 Jayco 31BDS because I can get it with 15k AC unit and dual pane windows....I'm also considering getting a generator to power the TT AC unit but if it only goest 14 below then it won't matter of its on when we roll down the road or not.....

RE: Bought a 2008 Jayco

Enjoy! Make sure you know how to disconnect/connect your hitch system, master and understand how to drain the tanks, and rehearse a flushing BEFORE you pull up to dump if you're not in a full hookup site. Triple check everything, and rushing (IMO) is the #1 cause of an accident or missed step...
