RE: Theft

Seven years full-time and not had anything stolen.I do make sure that I don't
tempt anybody by making it easy to grab and go.
When we carried bikes on the back of the fiver,I cabled them, and the seats rode under the rear seat of the TV.(uncomfortable to ride off into the sunset with no seat on the bike !)

Don't trim it.
Get a bigger hammer,cram/beat it on! Trim it and you will wonder why it falls off.

RE: Can I trust that little gauge?????

I check mine at each oil change, usually replace every 2nd time.
MoPar fuel and air filters only.161K miles on the clock and running just fine
$25 mopar filters are cheap insurance.
I gotta remember the line about bugs on the tailgate for the next time I see my SIL.:)

RE: Which gutter extensions work ?

The ones from CW are only 2"...Not long enough.
I found some at an RV store that are closer to 3",they work a lot better.
They do break off when they tangle with tree branches. That's why I carry spares.

RE: Question about slides

As has been said, life in a 5th wheel with no slides will be "tight"
Make sure that you can use the one you get, with the slides in as ReneeG
pointed out.At least be able to get to the fridge and bathroom with the slides in.It makes "potty stops" a whole lot easier. We sometimes open the dining area slide at rest stops, make a sandwich and set inside on lunch breaks.
We have 4 slides on our trailer,we would not be without at least 3.
Enjoy your new adventure!

RE: Question about stabilizers

No way to modify them to have the T handle on the side?
Mine (SOB) has 3/4 bolt on the side that I can tighten using a ratchet with
an 18" extension. Nice not needing to get down on one knee to tighten them.
I would sure try to figure out some way to modify those that you have, along with fabricating some sort of tool to tighten the T handles.(Or use short bolts in place of the T handles.

RE: Digital Satellite Meter discussion

....Soooo, baby monitor. Aim the camera at the TV screen with the signal strength screen showing and take the remote with you out to the dish. It works like a charm and isn't expensive.
Ed is The Man. I ordered this color monitor from Amazon for $75 (open item...even though it came brand new) and it is fantastic. Perfect view of the sig strength screen way behind the coach. Not only is it a cheaper solution but it is a positive ID of the satellite. Plus if you have a kid, it is dual function...I'm a geezer so no need for that. Thanks Ed!
Baby Monitor !!!! Being way beyond needing a baby monitor it never crossed my mind to use one to align the DTv dish
I agree,Ed is "THE MAN"
Most times I manage to park where I can see the TV thru a window, but when I can't,DW misses her programs (woe,is me!) Will be getting that baby monitor soon. (I'll be her hero again!)

RE: JT's Elephant Foot Jack Pads

Thanks for the input but I'm unsure how using boards will help me when I need to replace my landing gear pads as they are pretty badly bent.
I'm thinking that some folks did not quite understand your original post and did not click on the link you provided.

RE: Any non-retired people in Highways Mag??

After reading through 3 pages,it looks like no one has seen the T shirts that say
"OLD GUYS RULE"
Using the lingo of the day,"guys" would include male and female.
So,there you have it.
I'm going to hide out now to avoid the backlash/flame.
I'm kidding folks,I'm kidding !!

RE: No refund from Terry Bison Ranch

If it were my son returning there would not be a second thought about losing
$160 for a campsite reservation.Being there to greet him would be worth infinitely more than any campsite fee.
Forget the fee ! Enjoy the fact that your son came home alive!
I am really suprised that it seems like I am the only one to think this way.Camping/RVing is fun,but come on folks...5 tours and a son
or daughter returns home and a $160 refund is important ? I don't get it !

I'm sure glad that I have a place to go when I need legal advice! Most of the members here are attorneys (of some sort)
BTW,it seems to me like knocking on doors, as was mentioned, would be the first thing to try.

RE: How often do you drain hot water heater tank?

Because we spend winters in Texas or Arizona, hard water areas, I drain it and check the annode every year. I went 3 years when we first started traveling, the annode was just about gone. It's not much of a chore, but I'll have to say that I agree with the OP's dad.

RE: awning support need help

Awning deflappers will pull a lot of sag out of the canvas.I just had new canvas installed on my 16' awning and the awning guy suggested using them.
Also, make sure that the upper arms are pulled out to their max length before they are locked in place.
The support arms should form a triangle. High point on the trailer wall, low point on the wall and the tip being the point where the roller connects, not a Y as some folks do.
