RE: Living FT in RV while moving to a new Town: ideas?

Well I certainly wish, wish, wish I'd had your good sense when I sold our last house and bought the one we're in now! We didn't have the RV then but I regret not renting something and really taking the time to find what we wanted where we wanted. WE looked and looked and found a house my wife liked , she really loved the kitchen. I said fine and bought it. Realized shortly there after that I really didn't like it and should of rented until we found something we both like. Now I have a dilemma because I really like the guys in the neighborhood but would dump the house in a minute. Sometime soon we're going to sell, live on the RV and find something more suitable to us. (really hate give up the guys in the neighborhood though). So long winded version of saying I agree strongly go for it.

RE: Walmart Camping?

On a recent trip (week before Easter)during some areas Spring Break we had a similar experience. Not only did the parking lot look like a Camp Ground lots of RV/trailers but right in front of us they had their chairs out , people visiting, etc. Actually my wife pulled the front drape because their best view was inside our RV. I'm a live and let live guy but like you I'd hate to have it screwed up for everyone. I's nice to be able to pull in, stock up and catch a little shut eye before moving on.

Silver Dollar RV Resort, Odessa Fl

Has anyone stayed here that could give me an opinion of it? We're heading to Odessa to visit my Sister for a long weekend and this is the best place we've found. There currently is no info on RV Parks reviews. If anyone has a better suggestion (or any good suggestion relatively close) not to far away feel free Id appreciate input. Thanks

Painted Desert

We're traveling from Atlanta area to Las vegas and will be visiting the Painted Desert. If I remember correctly there is a free or real cheap place to stay real close. Anyone know which exit off 40 it is?

RE: Preparing 4 Fulltime RVing - Work Questions

My son is a Mgr at a company that takes photo's in all sorts of places. He actually is in a retail store where they take a photo with an animated animal and sell them to customers. I was shocked to learn how much money they do per year. There also at ski resorts, aquariums, zoo, museums, etc. This is a big business. They print all pics so you get to look at them and offer different packages. You might be on to something I would advise picking a place with an attraction like lazy river, maybe a water slide instead of following people arond randomly taking photo's. Once people see a nice printed photo of them coming down a slide or a family together with a nice backgorund they buy. Good luck

RE: late model gas vs older diesel pusher

I agree not really enough info. But I've had both a gasser and now a DP. All things being semi equal, slides, fit and finish of the coach, I would definately go with the pusher. Better ride, gas mileage, lot less noise upfront while driving. But I travel in mine a lot plus stay places for a couple week. If I were not driving as much I'd go for the best/newest living coach I could find.

RE: Patty O Shade

I also have the Patty Oh Shade and one end has a kind of wire running through it you just run that into the groove of the awning keep lifting up the awning and have someone pull the other side along. Goes up real easy with 2 people. Stake the other end down with bungies and good to go. Good luck

RE: Satellite Advice? "Tailgater" by DISH?

I have DISH but bought the Sat and had it installed by Camping World so I don't know if they come out or not. But they do have receivers that will do two tv's at once and you could probably hook up the outside one to work off one of the same outputs as one of the other tv's.

RE: Does It Bug Ya When........

Yeah it gets to me a little. Would be nice to know what fixed it, did they try iy, etc. I have a small business and on other forums for that, people have come on asking for advertisement material, letters sent to property mgrs, etc. I used to send them stuff I had as long as they were in a different area. But got sick of the no follow up or thank you, etc. The final straw was when a guy asked for a postcard that was successful, I sent him one, followed up with an email asking if he used it, no answer. I quit sending anything after that.

RE: class c with pet dog

Hunting Island is great but not much for Camp Store as was requested by OP. I definately would highly recommend it, beautiful place but you better be stocked up when you get there becuase it's a hike to get anything you might need and a looooong bike ride.

RE: You don't have to go far !

I hear ya! Back when gas prices went over $4.00 we went to a State Park 22 mi from where we keep the RV and had a ball, although I do like the traveling part fun can be had any where.

RE: class c with pet dog

Probably your best bet is Myrtle Beach. There's Ocean Lakes, Lakewood, and Pirateland right on te beach in S.C. Simply take a walk way through the mounds and your on the beach. They are pet freindly, lots of stuff for children to do. Have nice camp stores (a least Lakewood and Oceanlakes I never stayed at pirate land). Also have coffe shops and places to get something to eat. There are several nice State Parks on the beach in S.C. but the campstores don't have as much as the above. Lakewood has become one of our favorite campgrounds for a quick get away.

RE: Not having much fun

All great answers above. I'm going to take a different approach and say most any recreation vehicle, property , etc is a lot of up keep for me. We've had boats which maint and cleaning ,etc fell to me Lake front property painting ,fixing mowing fell to me RV driving ,maint setup me. Something always needs fixing and in my family it comes my way. After a while it does become easier but at first it can me a real pain trying to figure everything out. Sometimes I have my doubts myself! Good luck

RE: washer/dryer combo

Everything has been said above but I really like mine. I get up every morning and start it. So pretty much do a small load a day when we have full hookups. Probably wouldn't be much good during boondocking as it uses a bit of water and would empty your water tanks and fill up you grey water fairly quickly. We also rarely use the stove as our microwave is also a convection oven which the DW has come to love.

RE: Pilot/Flying J RV Plus Card

I've only used mine 4 times but everytime the discount has shown up at the pump, $.06 diesel, and allowed me to pump as much as I wanted without swiping again. The added benefit was it was, with the discount, the cheapest gas on the trip in all cases. So far I like it a lot and will only use Flying J from now on. (as long as the price is the same or cheaper) As an added benefit we were hungrey so went into their Denny's to eat, I hadn't been in one for years, was pleasantly surpirsed at the menu and it was very good. when traveling we have been eating a Cracker Barrel a lot, so much actually that I'm sick of their food, found this to be a pleasant change.

RE: Acadia advice & Smugglers Den campground

I'm from Maine orignally and last time I was there I was seeing Moose in the center Isle on the highway. Can't remember the reason but they were very plentiful that year. Should be no problem seeing them though.

RE: Cheap plastic floor registers

Agree that the PLASTIC ones are a waste of money HOWEVER I have replaced 2 of the original 5 METAL ones in the MH also....there isn't a product made to direct heat (vents) that is suitable to be in the center of the FLOOR where it is stepped on constantly...IMHO, of course HOW TRUE!! What a pain to find the right size and they keep breaking.

RE: electric steps won't work

I had a similar problem where my steps would only go in part way, but finally wouldn't go in or come out, in other words wouldn't move. I was going to take it in to be repaired but just before I did I sprayed WD40 on all moving and turning areas, really sprayed the rod that turns at the top well (I know this is not the stuff we're supposed to use for this) let it set for a while and it started working perfect. Then I touched up with Graphite lubritcant which is what they routinely should be lubed with.

RE: Camping World free shipping for Good Sam Members?

Yes I just ordered something late last week, shipping was going to be $16 or $17. I put my Good Sam number in the box and it recalculated to Free.

RE: Here we go again!

Yes it should work, you will lose local channels once your out of your area but all other channels will work. But your probably in for a big hassel setting it up. I bought a auto sat dish from Camping World and brought my DISH reciever from home and even they goofed when trying to setup the reciever, they are used to setting everything brand new. Long story but it took me a while to fiqure it out, but it works great now. If you want pm me and we can maybe go through what I think you have to do. The only experience I have is with my setup but I think it'll be the same.
