Gee Mower, I am sorry. I could offer to send you about 5 or 10 degrees, but that really wouldn't help you very much and it would make it cold here :0
It is foggy and rainy here again today. I have been cooking all morning. But...that means no cooking tonight. More of those doggone peppers for Art. He is so good to me that I feel obligated to cook stuff he likes.
I still have work to do. Dryer is waiting filled with dry items and I STILL have not mae Kahlans bed. Later gators
You are character Mr. basket. Loved that granny comment. You should save those bags of leaves. they make the best mulch in the world. Doesn't take them long to turn into nice black earth.
Glad you made it home safely NC. Don't be too quick to get rid of those leaves. Put them in a pile and let the gkids jump in them. that will break them up pretty quickly and then you will have a couple of shovels full of nice dirt in the spring.
that doggone Art is going to be on the road a couple of days next week. he has to attend a meeting in Orlando. I told him he scheduled it the wrong week. If he had arranged it for thanksgiving week Kahlan and I could have gone with him. We could have hit Disney while he worked :)
I hope Mower is not snowed in or frozen. I hear on the weather channel that it is getting pretty bad out there. Poor Mower and carol, freezing their noses off and that bad BAD Vee sitting in the sun drinking iced tea.
Well, I am outta here. You all have a good evening!
My gosh, You guys have been busy. And here , I do NOTHING! I do only easy stuff like clean all the tile and carpets, make beds, do laundry, unload the dishwasher. And sit in line at school waiting for Kahlan to come out. I do get to read while doing that;)
Vee, I wonder if Mower has noticed that you are a Ham? He is into that radio stuff.
Glad you made it home safely NC. Sorry you have to do all that cleaning, but that's how it works, you play and then you pay.
I cleaned all the tile in the house again today and then I went to Costco. I went without Art, so I spent a lot less. Tomorrow I am going Christmas dress hunting for Kahlan. she has to be in a Christmas program at school, so she needs an especially pretty one.
Well, going to go cuddle up with my roomie. you all have a good evening.
I usually ask them to hold and then put the phone on speaker and do things like empty the dishwasher or clean the stove top. They say " Hello....Hello" a couple of times. then.. the rude things hang up on me!
Mower, I hope you have dug out your long johns. We are having a colder than normal fall here also. We had frost on the cars this morning again. Downright shocking.
I had a rough morning this morning. Kahlan's mom had taken her out and about yesterday. didn't get her home til about 9:30. then it was like 10 when she funally got to bed. Need I say she was a real monster to get up this morning. After a non working attempt to get her out of bed, I went and woke up her mom. Let her see what a late night does to a little one. I stepped back and let her deal with dressing and feeding breakfast too. It was not quiet here this morning. I sure hope she got the message.
I am wondering if Jim and Nina and Mr. basket and Vee survived Thanksgiving dinner. They have been very quiet. Havent heard yet if Nc and Kathy made it home with the fiver. Hope everything worked out ok for them.
We worked a bit on my new sewing room. Its getting to look pretty good in there. I am planning on doing a bit of sewing in there tomorrow. I can already do that, even if we do have a bit to go before it is finished. I am just going to throw a light tarp over my machines. I have plans for making tote bags for Kahlans teachers. Christmas gifts.
Going to beat feet here. Wont be long til I have to pick the little monster up from school.
Hope everyone had a good holiday and didn't over eat. Altho, we did pretty good here ourselves in the eating arena. Have been spending our spare time Putting up new walls in that sewing room to be. It wont be long now and I can spend some time in there. Been thinking also that it is time to take my old bomb out on a run. Not good for those old cars to sit too long. Maybe tonight I will get her out and take Art out to dinner. He is paying of course :)
My Kahlan girl is going out to the ice show with her other grand mother. She doesn't get to spend too much time with that side of her family so I am glad for her.
Nc, I hope you get to take your fiver home. I don't know about Ashville, but here it is bright and sunshiny today. It is a little breazy too. when I went out to get the news paper this morning I wore my warmest coat. Of course it will be getting warmer thru the day. No palm trees swaying in the breeze either. that's a dig at Vee.
Mr basket, did you ever get the phone call from Fed Ex? they probably are pretty busy this time of year. I myself have had already 3 deliveries this last week and am expecting about 3 more in the next few days. I am thinking about generating 2 more also. Not to my house but to family.
Mower, hope you and carole are well. I hope you are getting some sunshine and enjoying not having to go out and take care of the horses this year. I can well imagine that was a chore.
Jim, I hope you and Nina are doing well. I hope you had a great Holiday and got your share of turkey. I feel sure that if you did, jj got his share too. My silly little gracie ate sweet potatoes. If she keeps getting tiny bites from the table like she did, she is going to be a 4 pounder. Her vet will give me what for for that.
Going to hit the bricks here. Places to go, things to see.
Good for you mower! I cheated on dinner tonight. I made soup and that seemed to make Art and Kahlan happy.
We have a couple of parts stores here that will loan out tools. Pretty neat if you know it is something you wont use a lot.
Gotta get off of here. Only got on line because I was looking to see if I had an email from my sister. she took our mother to a Dr appointment today and I wanted to see how it went.
Going to run. might chain Kahlan to the bed. I need a break. Love that little girl, but she wears me out :)
Well, we have had some serious rain here. Something over 3 inches. Had a bit of that doggone snow here today. Nothing serious, didn't stick but Kahlan had a ball out catching snowflakes on her tongue. She came in soaking wet. Reminded me of the old days with my kids when I had to dry all the coats and hats and gloves in the dryer so they could have another run at it.
Thanks Vee for filling me in on the trimming. I had always wondered how they got those trees so neat. We have palmettos here in south Carolina also. not to the extent that you have I am sure, or florida, but we have them. Here I have all oaks and myrtles and wild cherry trees. My fella wanted to cut down all the cherries, but I resisted. The birds love them. We have enough leaves we could carpet our place 6 inches deep in leaves. I love the leaves too, best mulch on earth.
Mr basket, be careful messing with those postal guys, they might go off on you. Never know when you might need to get a package delivered. Glad you got your DC trip in. was it fun? I bet art would like to see that place.
Mower, I have done that, and I get so ticked off with myself. what do you reckon caused that ridge? Is the cylinder a little small and made the lift sloppy? Or are the cam lobes a little worn? I had a 350 engine that did that once, the cams lobes wore down too quick. After I rebuilt the engine GM did a recall on it. figures huh?
NC, I sure do hope you get home safely. I don't know about Ashville, but here the temps are supposed to moderate somewhat by the weekend. As you will be in the mountains, I think I agree with you on holding off a bit. no fun pulling that thing thru the mountains.
Guess I will read the rest of this board and then go check on my last pie in the oven. You guys have a good holiday. don't overeat and get those big bellies. ?
sounds like a project for sure mower. Hope things have started to warm up for you. Here we are having the coldest weather we have ever had since we have lived here. Guess we are due.
I took Kahlan to school this morning. Actually used my remote starter. Don't do that very much. At least it took the brunt of the cold out of the car. It wasn't really warm in there, but it wasn't terribly cold either. I started Arts truck for him after I got home. so he, hopefully got into a more comfortable feeling ride.
As usual for me in the mornings, I have my washer and dryer running. Couldn't get to sleep last night, so about 2 am I got up and unloaded the dishwasher. cleaned out the fridge. I don't know why all those leftovers get put in the fridge unless it is to give me something to do when I cant get to sleep. Oh well, going to go drag the laundry out of the dryer and get that part of my work under control.
You all have a great day and I hope you get to feeling a little warmer.
yep, it is a might chilly here. I want to know who ordered up this stuff. We don't usually have temps this low. At least not in November and December.
Art is off target shooting and I have someone out blowing our leaves into a pile. he might have to make that two piles. This wind has been so strong that a lot of my pin oak leaves are already down. I love those leaves. best mulch on earth and if you don't need the mulch, just blow them into piles and cover then in the spring let the kids jump on the piles and break up the leaves. When they decompose you will have some of the blackest richest dirt ever.
We are going to have some rain the next couple of days. then sun again for thanksgiving. I love the sun. Not that I am one of those people who love to lay in the sun, I don't, but just having a sunny day makes me feel good.
I finished the latest Grisham book. as usual it is great. He and Pat Conroy write about different things, but I love them both.
Vee, I need to ask you, when you trim a palm, are you trimming off the lower fronds? I ask because when you see them looking so beautiful, on the trunk they have these scale things. I have always wondered if someone has to go that high in the air to trim the lower fronds off. Whats the skinny on that?
Jim, just wanting a report on Nina. I hope she is doing well.
Mower, stay home! don't get out there and take a chance on that miserable weather.
NC, you take care bringing that 5er home. Make sure you and Kathy are safe.
Wishing you all a wonderful dinner and no thanksgiving tummy aches :)
Oh my gosh Vee, you are down right NAUGHTY! I hope you took your long johns down there with you. ? I think you should tell us a little about yourself. I am in south Carolina, a native of Missouri and married to a nice old guy from Mass. All our kids are gone. We moved one night after we sent them off to the movie. We have a young mom and her little one living with us. One dog who rules our house. We bobble around in an old diesel pusher. BTW, I do have those shrubs that need trimming. We live on a couple of acres in the boonies.
Mower, I think NC is dreaming. He keeps talking about expecting all those low temps and snow. don't you believe him. We had a few sprinkles here yesterday. not bad, the kind you like to walk in. well, the kind I like to walk in anyway.
NC, Wake up!! Remember that you are going to wv next week and pull your 5er home. You might even find time to wet a line and torment those innocent little fishies.
I cant believe it, I was in walmart yesterday and they were PLAYING Christmas music. I almost, not quite, ran out of that store. Cant they wait til thanksgiving anyway? This is getting really awful.
Going to hit the bricks here. I got too many things to do. It is Friday you know.
Now, pray tell, How do you trim Palm trees? Are you talking taking off the lower fronds? If you Veebyes, are wanting some trimming to do We have plenty here. I will even let you use my pole trimmer. I have one of those fancy ones that the head of it can be adjusted to almost any angle you would want. Our leaves are really falling here. today the wind is really brisk. That makes it feel pretty chilly outside. If we had no wind it would be right tolerable.
Well old jimmie Johson won his 6th championship. Looks like Kahlan is going to get some use out of that nascar jacket I bought her last year for Christmas. Luckily it was a little on the big side for her.
I think I caught someone casing my house yesterday. It was during the time I should have been at school waiting in line picking up Kahlan. Her mom woke up early and decided to go get her, so I was at home. I was in the bedroom end of the house and Gracie started barking like crazy, so I went to have a look see. There was a car out in my yard all cozied up to the MoHo. I went to the back of the house and grabbed a jacket, phone and my concealed. I opened the door and started across to see what was happening and the guy got in the car and tore out of the yard. Not sure what he was after. We keep everything locked up. We do have a security system, but it wasn't armed. Guess we need to arm it during the day too. Gracie did her job pretty good tho. If they had been successful, that would have been a second burglary for us.
I gotta get, that is, I gotta get unless someone wants to come unload the dryer and fold my towels.
lol, I think you got him where it hurts Veebyes! Good for you. Not to miss welcoming you to this thread. so glad to have you here.
We had a great weekend over in Cheraw. the weather was just about perfect. We had campfires both Friday and Saturday nites. Saturday nite we had a great campfire dinner. that was fantastic. The children (3 of them) played and ran around the campground and collapsed when we made them go to bed. The guys traded war stories and checked out the Rv's. Discussed issues they were each having. Of course all the people who were still doing flying for business whined to Art about the airlines.
I am starting to pull out all the staples in the cabinets. Don't like to leave them in there too long. Some I can use in the house and a few I think have been there too long and are stale.
Jim, glad to her that Nina is doing well. Please give her my regards and good wishes.
Mower and carole, hugs to you both. Take it easy on all that mechanical work.
NC and Kathy, I know you are going to miss your weekends in WV, but there will always be next year.
Hugs to everyone even the newbee Veebye!
A little warmer here today. We had some wind and temps below freezing yesterday morning. The wind was the bad part.
Art is home today. Going to finish up getting the Moho ready to move in the am. Kahlan is ready. I took her last night to get a new pair of boots. I was picturing a pair of real clod hoppers, but she wanted a pair of those things she calls "uggs". So, we got the uggs and I got a can of water proofing stuff. Went thru the winter routine , got her some long johns and hats and 6 pair of gloves. She has already lost one pair of gloves this year.
Whoops, the master calls. Gotta get.
Jim, I am so sorry to hear that Nina has not been doing well. I hope things are looking up for you and for her. Give her our love and tell her that she is in our thoughts and prayers. Poor little JJ must be really missing her.
Everything is going well here, except for the doggone weatherman. He was calling for some yukky weather this afternoon and we got some heavy wind and a sudden drop in temps just like he said we would. We are also in the maybe area. Maybe we will get a little dusting of snow and maybe we wont. I am hoping for the latter. I vote to let mower have all the snow.
We have been getting stuff together to go camping this weekend. I am hoping the temps will get back into the normal range. Kahlan is going to play hookie on Friday. Poor kid, she doesn't even know what hookie is.
Going to make a run for it. Time to chase her to bed. You guys all take care. Especially Nina. Hugs!
Was chilly here this morning. This time change has really messed Kahlan up. I have been waking her up at 6:30 to walk out the door at 7:30am. Since the time change she has been getting herself up around 6 am or so. That's cutting into "my time" I like to have about an hour to myself in the morning to have myself dressed and my meds taken and to sit and have a leisurely cup of coffee and read the paper. Maybe it will work itself out soon. I sure do miss my mytime.
Art didn't have to get his eye shot. He got a good report from his dr. this is the second month in a row that he didn't have to get the shot. We are hoping, of course, that this continues.
Looks like I am going to have dinner tonight with just me and Kahlan. Art is going to another CWP event. Right now he has a CWP just in SC. This new thing will give him CWP rights in most states. Just what he needs, not.
Sounds like my dryer is calling me. You guys all have a good day and WIPE YOUR feet before coming in here!
YUK! That's one reason I NEVER drink any coffee but the coffee I make. I like a clean pot. And, my cups hit the dishwasher EVERY day. I do reuse my cup throughout the day, but It usually has a morning cup of coffee in it, once in a while a second cup, but after that it has either water or sometimes cold tea in it.
You have lots of energy Basket. but I bet your house looks great. Hope you are being careful on that ladder tho. I am one of those clutzy people who can fall off of my shoe sole.
Art has another eye appointment this afternoon. I always have to go with him. In case he has to get the eyeball shot. Poor guy has been doing this for about 2 years now. I guess when you think about it, the times you go aren't important, so long as the eyesight is saved.
Got laundry in the dryer. Guess I will go read the campfire line before it gets finished.
Well mower, YOU are eating high on the hog aren't you? And here we are , your dear friends, eating LEFTOVERS. shame on you :)
I am one lucky lady. I was able to tour a grocery store today. even see their walk in freezer and fridge! And, I got to do it with 22 5 year olds. Now you cant beat that for entertainment. then we went to a pizza place where the little charmers got to make their own pizzas. Now that was fun. they had a ball and then they ate what they made. it was fun to see them do that. They all ate really good too.
Pat Conroy has a new book out. He wrote prince of tides and also one named " the Great Santini" that one was about his family. Well, since that book his parents have passed away and one of his brothers who had some mental issues has taken his own life. So, this newest book is named " the Death of Santini" Santini was his father who was a marine fighter pilot who was also an abusive father and husband. Anyway, that was a really good book. I read it in one day. I am sorry to say that I read it in one day. I just could not put it down. The English history book took me about 3 days to read, but I will probably revisit it as I start to pick it apart. I am one of those :)
Well, while I have been here lollygagging, my fella has come home. Guess I better go gaze into his lovely blue eyes :)
