RE: Shhhh! Quiet that Motor - Ford F53

On OurOld Southwind,it was as simple as making an inner sheet metal lid with a bit of High Density Foam Rubber sandwiched between it and the Doghouse cover. I tried other types of insulation , the sheet metal was more effective than any insulation that I had tried including some fairly expensive material from a Marine Store.

RE: How do we keep 2 yr old from opening screen door?

I think a lot of Us Old folks worry too much about these things. The average two year old can scramble up, down and around most any Door or Staircase safer and faster than any of Us! An unlikely fall out of the RV isn't going to do too much damage to a child but sure will do some hurt to Grandma! Now running away or disappearing once They get Outside...that I worry about. Just wait till they start climbing the ladder to the Roof or up the Trees!

RE: 1992 itasca sunrise

I could be wrong ,but I believe the Airbags were an optional item. 50 PSI seems like too much air pressure I would have thought 10 to 15 PSI !

RE: RV Storage in Arizona

A friend left His Motorhome in Yuma one Year! They filled several Rubbermaid Totes with Water to provide some humidity, but still had dried out panelling and woodwork. Virtually everything made of plastic crumbled and fell apart. It cost Them several hundred dollars to replace and repair! Store Your Rig indoors or take it Home with You.

RE: Tent Camping in Mexico

Every RV Park that We have visited in Mexico has Tent Camping areas and sites. They also all have acceptable to excellent Toilet facilities and Clean up Sinks. On long weekends thousands of Mexican City Dwellers flock to the Beaches to Camp. Very few have RV 's ,most are in Tents ! You will have no problem finding a place to pitch Your Camp! Just a note: Mexican Campgrounds typically charge a flat rate for RV's with two persons! Tent Campers are charged by the Person. For this reason RV ers are often asked to vacate the beachfront sites at Xmas because They can squeeze twenty or more people into those sites, which means a whole lot more Profit for the Park,! It also creates much more wear and tear on the Toilet Facilities Etc.

RE: Shaw Satellite Service

I just had a New 3 Sat LNBF Installed on My 60 CM Home Shaw Direct system Today. In order to make this work with My series 600 PVR the Receiver had to be reprogrammed. The only reason We bothered to "Upgrade" is to receive more HD Channels on Our New HD TV Set! 200 New HD Channels coming in Early June! I also ordered an additional New HD Receiver and an LNBF to fit the 75 CM Dish which We take with Us while traveling South each Winter. I have it on good authority (Shaw Technical Support)that The New Satellites transmission Beam will Not be available more than 100 Miles South of the 49th However The Original 2 Will continue to work as far down as Guatemala on the 75 CM Dish. I will be taking along an Older Receiver and LNBF just in case the New Types don't work "As advertised"

RE: Pre-99 Kwikee step question

You can find Ford Window Lift assemblies at any Auto Wrecker. It doesn't matter if it is Left ,Right, or Tail gate! The Motors are all the same as are the gears. As a matter of fact these exact same units were also used by G.M.and Chrysler , back in the 70/80 ,s! the Left ones just have the same shaped housings that Kwikee used. Kwikee modified the housings to fit their particular application by grinding down some of the mounting studs ! You are really only after the Gears inside, and/or the Motor. The exact same Motor and gearbox was also used for various Windshield Wiper applications as well! And Yes You can still buy them New at NAPA and other Auto Supply Stores.

RE: Who Installed your baseplate

If You are the First Person with this Vehicle to have it rigged for towing ,You may qualify for a Free Install! Contact Roadmaster or whoever makes the Tow Bar that You want to buy to see if They are currently looking for a New model Installation " Test case " or whatever it is called!

RE: Supplemental Brake Dilema

You are not the First person that has had this happen to! The B B is in My opinion a flawed design that should be banned from sale. it along with several other pendulum activated and electronically controlled units causes more problems than it solves. Consider replacing it with a Ready Brake.

RE: Vehicle mounted vs Motorhome mounted tow bar

I have both types. A Demco Excalibar and a Roadmaster Stowmaster! Both work well while towing. The Demco Looks better while We are disconnected. The Roadmaster is quicker to Connect and Disconnect. Get whichever one You prefer!

RE: Replacement RV microwave

The OP's post is either Tongue in Cheek, or extremely Naive! I suspect the former so will respond in kind! LP Microwaves are presently only available for installation under the BBQ and have yet to be approved for use in RV's.! They tend to get very Hot! The Wood burning variety are also currently unavailable for RV 's and can only be installed in a Cabin in the Woods or by a Lake! There is of course another option ,Solar! these require no permanent installation and can be set up outdoors on the Picnic Table or even directly on the ground! Food prepared in a Solar Microwave is delicious and there is no danger of setting the Rig on Fire. The only downside to a Solar Microwave is that they are only usable in direct Sunlight! They can be used in conjunction with the Totally Awesome Solar Clothes Dryers! I have heard rumours that an newer inert gas model is being tried by various chef's but may not be suitable in an RV either!

RE: Dash cams

I have had one now for a little over two years. It is plugged in to the 12 Volt Power Point on the Dash. I have to actually push in the plug in order to start it. I have a 32 Gig SD Card and record in 5 Minute Segments. It runs for about 8 Hours before over writing onto itself. Comes in handy as a Video Camera when You forget yours at Home! I think Mine was $35 on E-Bay with Free Shipping. The SD Card was almost as much 2 Years ago! It is identical to the First one shown on the Comparison Chart.

RE: Shocks

Anyone put Konica FSD shocks on their rig?.Think they will be easier to find if you look for Koni FSD shocks. Konica makes cameras. I noticed that too! I haven't seen any Konica Branded products around for several Years. I think that The Merged with Minolta and possibly Sony! In any event They were a Great Photographic Company in their Day! Koni is the Shock absorber Company!
