RE: Awesome Season Opener
There is a guy who sells lobster dinners right at the Bar Harbor KOA. Great quality and great price--and you can eat it right at your campsite with a water view! Has anyone else ever eaten there? Been dreaming of a good lobster roll lately!
We tried the lobster roll - IMHO you'd do much better to go back over the bridge to the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound and get a lobster or crab sandwich. Price and taste usually are better. They make a sandwich instead of a roll because "That's how Mother used to do it". Great shore dinners as well without the mess of cleaning up at the campsite.
We'll be at the KOA the end of September for our 7th time. Can't wait!

We see beautiful sunsets over Western Bay, looking west towards Blue Hill. We camp at the Bar Harbor KOA, where the bay is right in front of our rig. Sunsets also would be spectacular (as are sunrises!) from the top of Cadillac Mountain.

Can you tell any difference with the Michelins?
My understanding is the Michelins have a more flexible sidewall that some have complained getting more side-to-side motion with. The Bridgestones are S-speed rated (versus R for the Michelins) which usually means a stiffer sidewall.

I have Michelin LT now, and had good luck for 7 years with a set of OEM Bridgestones.
Yes, the Michelins seem a little "squishier" but ride and handle fine. BTW, we had 35,000 miles on the Bridgestones with plenty of tread left. They looked fine - no cracks or checking - but were going into their 8th year so I was afraid they were "ageing out". Didn't want to get far from home and have a problem. Got a good deal and installation from my local repair shop on the Michelins.

The Cape has changed a lot since '65! Patti Page sang "If your fond of sand dunes and salty air..." Well, if you are, avoid the Hyannis area like the plague and head for the Outer Cape or the North Shore (Route 6A). Be sure to stop for a lobster Roll at the Sesuit Harbor Café in Dennis! We "driveway camp" on the Cape 2 or 3 times a year, so can't help you much with specific CGs, but Sweetwater in Brewster has a good rep...

kfp - a quick reply that would apply to all of coastal Maine. If you are thinking of July 4th anywhere on the coast you'd better make reservations NOW, parks fill up fast on Holidays. We reserve our sites a year ahead. As for beaches, the farther north you get the colder the water will be! Sand Beach at Acadia would be mighty cold in July. it's a beautiful spot and lots of folks enjoy the beach, but there won't be many in the water! We always swam at the nice fresh water beach at Echo Lake.

We keep our twin beds permanently made up in the back of our Roadtrek. This also can apply to the 190. If you need more comfort, just use a piece of foam or a camping mattress. We leave all the backrest cushions at home. Even our 210 is easily driven through city streets and even though we might have to walk a bit (or pay for two metered spaces) we've always been able to park.

We live on a dirt road with difficult access as well as having a summer cottage with the same. Both places are great for privacy. That's why we love our Class B and have been very happy for almost 10 years. Of course it is worth
while listing places with difficult access, but perhaps it could be mentioned. Let the customer decide!

I believe all the CGs on Mt Desert and the close surrounding area are on the Trolley Route. We can do day trips in our compact rig so don't use them, but our friends who use them rave about them. BTW, the Trolleys run on propane so are quiet with little pollution. They are sponsored by LL Bean - one more reason to patronize that great Maine institution!

My FIL is elderly and has a cat. Our puppy is not welcome overnight, and we are not comfortable trying to sleep in his stuffy house. So... he has installed 20 amp service and a TV cable that we can access from his garage, so we all are very comfortable driveway camping in the RT! Have been doing this for at least 6 years. A bonus is that all this takes place on Cape Cod!

Yes. SOS. While we are at it: Let's also c/o noisy/cussing neighbors, drunk neighbors,cigarette smokers, littering, cutting thru campsites, idling engines, generators, friendly campers, unfriendly campers,traffic, gas prices, etc. Did I miss anything?

I've always been tempted just to take off the plastic "bumpers" altogether. The RTs I've seen without them look more stealthy and to me neater. We bought our rig off the lot and if I had ordered I would have deleted the ground effects. No plastic would also cure the dreaded "curb anxiety"...

Amazing that almost 3 million people visit tiny Acadia! We camp nearby in September/October and practically have the Park to ourselves. The NP CGs are closed or closing at that time, though...
